I'll tell you the same thing I told Reginald...expand on Thomas' universe. Explore everything about your character. His relationship with his father. his fears, doubts, etc. what make him tick. his favorite pair of underwear if he's got it. It will just help you get more accustomed to your character. He's still a little vanilla, but you are only two promos in. I can tell you have the writing chops to put these ideas on paper. Pretty soon, if you can implement everything and come hard with your shoot, you should start working your way up the card in no time.
Just take it slow and build your character right now. Give us a reason to root for Thomas, be it he's just flat out entertaining, underdog, whatever, and you'll be on the winning side of matches more often than not. Don't be afraid to get extremely creative with it.
Go check out some of the top guys promos and you'll see they have some of the most creative promos in the game today.
Overall though, they were a good introduction to Bates.
Also, match relevancy. Make sure to focus on your opponents in your promos. Put some effort into finding out their current storylines and history, then just sink your teeth in. I know you don't technically have a match posted (full card tonight) but this is just a little food for thought.

Kaz makes lots of great points here, take your time; get used to the character. WCF is hands down the toughest place to roleplay on the planet. But the most rewarding. You're going to come up against guys that could hold world titles anywhere else. And to think, I took up roleplaying again just for a bit of fun, bah! lol
My advice is to not worry about wins right away, enjoy the writing, and use a few exercises to find that definitive Uriel voice. Here's a few tips that I hope come in handy.
Watch some television (current affair shows are usually the best) now try and imagine what Uriel's reaction to events would be. Imagine his voice in the room, the guy is sitting on the couch and he's passing comments, what does he think? Republican or democrat? Right or left? Does he miss old school cop shows? Maybe he has a secret passion for cookery? Just listen to his voice and flesh out that character.
Who does he hang with? If Uriel was a show on AMC or HBO; who would his supporting cast be? This is an area I've been thinking about for a long while. I've been taking my time building up a definitive backstory and character background for scarecrow. When I first started here it had been 7 years since I roleplayed. I used to write several characters on MSN; they held a world title or two. When I thought about coming back, it was to help advance my writing skills since I was thinking about working on a novel. And you know, the more you write the better you get. Scarecrow's a character I need to lock down when it comes to who he is. You'll probably find yourself on the same path, just give yourself time to get to know the guy and write his adventures, take your time choosing compatriots, and have some fun!
