We don't fly the Union Jack because we beat England's ass in the Revolutionary War.
We shouldn't fly the Confederate Flag because we beat The South's ass in the Civil War.

While we're yakkin' about so-called "controversies", and baggin' on hypocrites and double-talkers, when are we gonna get around to Christianity? That's the REAL problem, isn't it? Do a quick fact check for me, 'cause I'm waaaay too high to care, but how many of the domestic terrorism apologists will claim to be "God-fearing individuals", or "God-loving Christians"? How many atrocities and murders have been committed in the name of a guy who, by His own admission, just wants us to be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes? How much hatred and bigotry is spread under the guise of religion? It's an international indoctrination scam intended to divide humanity at a base level, but you guys go ahead and keep arguing about patterned cloth.

People in general don't need pride reminders like flags. Do the communities that have been listed here? Oh I'm sure to some degree, since the pride and self esteem has been beaten out of them and continues to be beaten out of them. As for the "whites were slaves too" argument, let's look at it this way. How many average white american's wake up on the daily and think about the fact that "Irish slaves existed"? See, it's not like it's ever stopped for many of these communities. Racism, homophobia, and sexism still exist to such a degree that people of these communities are constantly fucking mentally and physically abused into the damn ground. Gays are constantly told their love is wrong. Blacks are told that their noses are too big or looked at as "thugs" with their "crazy rap music", or you have black women, black girls, who have such image and self esteem issues to be made not beautiful as a result of negative chain effects. Native Americans had their shit ripped from them. On comparisons of race and discrimination, life is not hard being white. Life can be hard according to where you may live or experiences you may go through, but that doesn't validate any opinion that says we are victims or that any symbol of pride is acceptable when it has very much been used to hurt, to torture an entire community.

Also if we do face our own types of struggles, shouldn't we try to sympathize with other groups who face problems far worse and far more unfair than ours instead of trying to argue the case for something insensitive as fuck?

The Irish slave argument is largely inaccurate. It was first pushed by white supremacists to discredit African Americans and the wounds of slavery. Irish "slavery" was indentured servitude. It's not the same thing as chattle slavery.

I think the fact that people of color relate this flag with slavery and years of oppression is enough for us to double think it. All those people who say "NO ITS NOT ITS PRIDE" are being hard-headed and not trying to think of anyone else's opinions on it, because they refuse to see where this feeling could be coming from.

Howie, since you acknowledged and confirmed that I do have the right to wave the flag, STFU and get over it... I see many black Americans, including my inlaws who can move beyond the past and let go of the hatred, why can't you?
