Also might I add, if anybody had a right to take things personally on here it would be me... The preacher but when it comes to INCHARACTER stuff I really dont give a damn. Somebody can write "PISS ON JESUS FUCKING CHRIST #CHRISTIANSARETWATS" and I wouldnt give a damn. Come on, just play the game and deal with it.

I know I'm kind of late to this party but I've been sick with the flu the last few days so I've been away from my computer most of the time.
I just got through reading all this and in my view, it seems that this is truly a case of making a mountain out of a mole hill. Admittedly, I can understand GD's point of view and I do not and would never support gay bashing or criticism in any way. By that same token though, I can take a joke just as much as the next guy, especially in a game. I take nothing in this game seriously because ultimately, it's a pissing contest if you think about it about who can trash talk the best. If you can craft an interesting story along the way, the more power to you. There are some great creative minds here in WCF undoubtedly who have come up with epics that have entertained us all but at the same time, we need to take a breath and relax every so often.
The Twitter boards are just that, a breath of fresh air and a moment to relax. I don't always want to go all out and write up a 4k+ RP to get a viewpoint across and I may just want a snippet to make something clear. That board allows me to do that, some light trash talking without much thought. Sort of like trash talking on the go. I personally keep it all in character and anything I type is something my character would do. I personally enjoy things there and have a lot of fun with it.
Admittedly, there are some people there who in my opinion have taken it too far and have really made it a somewhat negative environment (I won't say who) but I won't let that minority ruin what is otherwise good fun. I've started a few great in character feuds in there and I wouldn't want to see that board gotten rid of because ultimately, if used correctly, it can be a great way to start a feud without having to write a whole RP about it and heck, you can even have a side feud while having a main feud on Slam and simply have another one as a slow burning feud that may turn into a main feud later.
That's how my feuds with Purse, Twilight, Cash, Slane, heck even Fly started. Fly and I had a whole feud without having a single match. I can only speak for myself but I personally love that board and to see it go away would make me sad if only because of the lighthearted fun it's brought me. For me, it's often a good pass time at work during my breaks and lunch because I can throw a jab or two without putting too much thought into it. Let's remember in the end that this is all a game and something we do for enjoyment and to entertain ourselves and each other. Let's try to keep it enjoyable for ourselves.

My response was more directed toward Kale. She's essentially saying Steve Orbit can't be a pimp, etc. See this is taking what I said out of context. I never said one's character had to be changed. I feel that if the only thing one can do to feud with another is call them gay, faggot and so forth then the problem needs to be dealt with. I never said anything about Orbit being a pimp. Orbit is probably one of the most respectable guys on the board. I have seen a lot of stuff thats been either borderline or outright racist, and to me its not about it being offensive, its just CHEAP. its the lowest and most uncreative form of insult. its just boring and if it actually does offend anyone, even one person, thats even worse. I would think people would know better... Exactly. This isn't about sticks and stones here. This is uncreative and very childish. You never know who is being offended by this kind of crap. |

First to Joe, yes you do in all honesty know who made the big fuss here. It was the guy who made this thread...me. It wasn't who you think it was.
Just because something is done in-character doesn't mean it's not a bad thing. WWE, for example, has had to apologize more times for things wrestlers did on their shows or in the ring than for anything they've done backstage or in the public eye.
Gravedigger is one of the biggest heels in WCF history and has done some horrible and despicable things yet he doesn't go around making racist, sexist or any other kind of derogatory jokes towards people.
This is probably the last thing I'll say on it though because it's going nowhere.

This is what prompted my response: "I don't care if its a gay joke, a sexist joke or any other derogatory joke, I don't care if it's in character or not. It should NOT be tolerated here." Fact is, Orbit's character is a pimp, and you will find 'sexist' material in his RP. You'll find it in my RP's. You'll find it in any RP where Twilight or KJE are the opponent. Orbit and Fly actually have somewhat of a similar background, and it makes sense for them to act a certain way. Derogatory comments in some form are going to exist in a game like this. There's still a line that shouldn't be crossed and anyone with some common sense should know what that line is and respect it. A few people seem to think this conversation has run its course, and probably so, but I for one think it's been constructive...and mostly peaceful. These are good things. Though, I wish Waylon wasn't on the chat saying how 'stupid' an opposing viewpoint from his own is. |

I love you guys. Back in the day, an argument like this would've had at least two people quitting by the time it got to the third page! We're all growing.
Most things have been said but I'm going to throw out my viewpoint, just because I'm kinda the owner and stuff:
1. Legitimately anti-gay or sexist or whatever posts, OOC, are NEVER okay. Period. I'm not sure if that was ever in question. Now by that I don't mean someone saying "har har Seth Lerch likes it in the butt!", but insults with real ill intent or hatred behind them.
2. Any viewpoint - and I mean ANY viewpoint, honestly - in character - is okay. You can be a homophobic Nazi who eats babies for all I care. If you're playing a character who is immature and says immature things, then okay, that's your character and it's fine.
3. To that end, it's just important to keep things on the Internet Post board as strictly in character as possible. Otherwise things get twisted around and problems like this arise.
That's basically what it comes down to. Lord knows for the past decade this fed hasn't exactly been the most P.C. fed in the world and it never will be.
