OOC Notes for any writers using Bates/Interesting Facts
1. It is rare that Bates will ever curse, if at all.
2. Bates is respectful of friends and foe alike, with very few exceptions.
3. Bates would rather pass out than tap out.
4. He looks, walks, talks, and acts as a "Southern Gentleman". He is usually in a three-piece suit, has a deep Mississippi Delta Southern Accent, and always tries to conduct himself as a gentleman.
5. He smokes pipe and cigars, but never cigarettes. His favorite pipe is a large Churchwarden pipe, and his favorite cigar is Romeo & Julieta Churchill, though he has been known to smoke other cigars.
6. He does drink, socially. He usually drinks Scotch, Wine, and occasionally some of that "Homemade" whiskey and wine. He does not drink beer, and is refusing at this time to drink Jack Daniels.
7. He is a proud Southerner, but he does not support or tolerate racism. He disavows all racist groups, and holds resentment towards them for using the symbols of his heritage.
8. He is currently a nomad in the Dark Riders Gang Motorcycle Club, a non-outlaw biker group.
9. He is deeply religious, and has been known to step in as a Chaplain from time to time. He is not a licensed ordained minister.
10. He does not believe in gimmicks that involve time traveling, monsters, demons, serial killers, aliens, or anything of the paranormal. He does believe some of these things exist, just not that they would find themselves in a wrestling promotion.

Biography
Thomas Uriel Bates (born October 26, 1983) is an American professional wrestler, currently signed to Wrestling Championship Federation as a singles wrestler. He is a member of the Bates/James family, a renowned American wrestling dynasty. He unsuccessfully ran for U.S. Senator for Alabama in 2015, losing out in the primaries to Senator Richard Shelby. In 2016, Bates won the WCF World Championship, finally achieving all necessary titles to become a WCF Triple Crown Champion. He has won multiple Match of the Week, (OOC: Roleplay of the Week), and Wrestler of the Week awards. He has won six championships; the WCF World Championship, WCF United States Championship, WCF Television Championship (twice), WCF Tag Team Championship (with Gemini Battle), and the WCF Trios Championship (with Gemini Battle and George “Gonzo” Murdock). Bates is a member of the motorcycle club the Dark Riders Gang, and was at one-time President of the now defunct WCF Chapter. He is currently a member of the Nomad Chapter. He is a second generation member, as his father and uncle are both founding members. Early Life & Education Bates was born on October 26, 1983, to Andre Uriel Bates and Elizabeth James-Bates, in Memphis, Tennessee. Both of his parents and his uncle were professional wrestlers. Bates’ father, Andre, is one of the largest wrestlers in history, standing at 7’9” and weighing 500lbs. It was feared that Thomas would grow to the same height, or larger, instead he topped out at 6’9” and currently weighs 430lbs. He attended Gateway Christian Academy, but dropped out to get a General Education Degree due to the school not being accredited at the time. He attended the University of Memphis, where he majored in history with a minor in political science. He graduated with a B.A. in history and later achieved his Masters. Bates was taught at an early age various forms of fighting skills. He has received training in Taekwondo, Pastaryu, Wing Chun, Fencing, Amateur Wrestling, Professional Wrestling, and Boxing. In college he was on the weightlifting team, and soon became known for his incredible strength. He holds several records at the college, as well as in the Geneses Book of World Records for log carry. Upon graduation, Bates accepted a position as an Professor at the University of North Alabama. After disagreements in the direction of Education, Bates resigned and soon joined his father’s wrestling academy, Bates’ Gym, where he is currently co-owner with his parents. Wrestling Championship Federation (February 2015 – October 2015) Bates was signed to WCF on February 14, 2015, making his debut on the WCF’s pay-per-view Timebomb on February 22nd, 2015. He defeated Gemini Battle and Mr. Amazing after an impressive debut, sending Gemini Battle thirty feet in the air and into the third row of fan seating. Bates also displayed his devastating finisher, the Bates’ Boot, ending the career of Mr. Amazing. On the March 1, 2015 episode of Slam, Bates faced off against Jay Omega, Zombie McMorris, and Dan Van Slade in a title match or the WCF Hardcore Championship. Though Bates lost, his determination in the ring, and his ability to keep up with the seasoned veterans in the match, earned the respect of any fans and fellow wrestlers alike. The match was initially delayed by the FCC, due to the violent nature of the show. It was here that Bates first showed his political strength, where he began a petition that eventually allowed the show to air after much editing. Not long into his first tenure in the WCF, Bates brought in his motorcycle club, the Dark Riders Gang MC, to help even the score against large stables that dominated during his initial run. Stables such as Pantheon, Vapor Kings, and the Poondock Saints were already established, but the Dark Riders Gang quickly dominated the scene, finally overwhelming the veteran stables during the Trio’s Cup Tournament where three members, George “Gonzo” Murdock, Gemini Battle, and Thomas Uriel Bates would win the WCF Trios Championship. In April of 2015, Bates won the WCF Television Championship from Grime, and fought through the Trio’s Cup Tournament with the title. He held the title until June 28, 2015 where he lost to Howard Black. Upset about losing his ticket to the Ultimate Showdown, Bates pushed forward and eventually won the Ultimate Ninth Battle Royal in which he received his ticket to the match. He came in second place in the Ultimate Showdown match, barely losing the match to Dune. Bates received the United States Championship, but continued to push for the World Championship. At Revenge, Dune defeated Bates, and ended his shot at the World title. He participated in only a few more matches, his last one being War XIV, before leaving the WCF to pursue a political career. Run for the Senate (2015-2016) In October of 2015, Bates announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate, running as a Republican. He faced current Senator Richard Shelby in the primary race, and eventually suspended his campaign. He was known for controversial stands against gun control, same-sex marriage, abortion, and support of the legalization of marijuana and dueling. Return to Wrestling Championship Federation (2016) In May of 2016, Bates returned to the WCF and teamed up with fellow Dark Riders Gang members Gemini Battle and Mikey eXtreme in the 2016 Trio’s Cup Tournament. They lost in the first round, but the tournament ended abruptly with the Mexico Incident, a split with many members of the roster. Bates chose to stay, and quickly feuded with Seth Lerch, Logan, Dagvald Riddik, and James “The Game” Chevalier, who he blamed for the split. During the WCF Classic Tournament, Bates was eliminated by Chevalier, but continued to fight against The Family. Eventually only Seth Lerch remained, and hired a massive team of mercenaries to provide “security” for himself. The feud ended when Bates, the members of the Dark Riders Gang, and Kevin Bishop attacked all mercenaries and forced Seth Lerch to withdraw them. With The Family gone, Bates began preparing for his second Ultimate Showdown match. He teamed with Gemini Battle once more and won the WCF Tag Team Championship, earning his ticket into the Ultimate Showdown match where he came in second place again, losing to Gemini Battle. Bates won his second WCF Television Championship. Bates would go on to fight Gemini Battle and “The Shine” Brent Alpine for the WCF World Championship at Revenge, where he finally won the title. Persona & Reception Bates has become something of a backstage leader for the WCF, having stuck it out with the company after the Mexico Incident, and uniting the roster on occasion to fight threats to the company. He is seen as a man of principle and intelligence, even to those who do not fully agree with his beliefs. He strives to help build up the entire roster, even if they are soon to challenge him for the title. He is a strong supporter of professional wrestling as a combat sport, and does not care for the concept of “sports entertainment” as pushed by other companies. He views that the ring is for wrestling, not stage shows. As such, he is always hesitant to believe what he calls outlandish gimmicks, such as creatures, demons, serial killers, etc. Personal Life Bates is of Scottish, Irish, Chinese, and Native American descent. His father, Andre Uriel Bates, is a retired professional wrestler and owner of the Bates’ Gym, a wrestling training facility in Memphis, Tennessee. His uncle, Alexander James, is also a retired professional wrestler once going under the name “The Crow” Eric Draven, and is the owner of Golanv Enterprises, a multi-billion-dollar company that deals in everything from media, to weapons manufacturing. His mother briefly wrestled under the name Pandora, and his brother Jefferson Davis Bates is a referee for the WCF. His cousin Nathaniel James is an amateur MMA fighter. Bates is related to Confederate Captain Martin van Buran Bates, who stood at 7’9” and was known as having the strength of ten men, and ability to fight fifty men at once. He is proud of his Confederate heritage, and has taken a stand against the removal of Confederate flags, monuments, graves, and other symbols of the former Confederacy. He works with various historical organizations in an effort to preserve history, with a focus on the War of 1861 and the Civil Rights era. Bates is a Christian, though his denomination is undeclared. He has been seen acting as Chaplain for the Dark Riders Gang. |
