Helloween Rough on the South
by Rob E. Lee, Sportswriter
On Monday night WCF hosted it's annual Helloween in Reading PA. While the South was well represented, the night didn't go as well as wanted.
The event was full of all kinds of action, thrills and surprises. The first match involving one of our beloved Southern Sons was a triple threat ladder match for the WCF Television Title. Doc Henry, the Confederate Champion faced off against Yankies Jake Keeton, and Vic. The match was full of many high risk, and exciting moments, culminating with Doc Henry spearing Keeton off the top of the ladder. Unfortunately for our champion, this move took him out as well long enough for the rookie to retrieve the TV Title. While this loss means that Doc Henry was not able to add another title to his resume, he remains the longest currently reigning champion in the company. His run as Confederate Champion has reached 38 weeks, an impressive length of time and one of the longest reigns in WCF history.
The night didn't get any easier as the World Champion, and Inveterate Confederate Johnny Reb defended his title against the big Odin Balfore. Earlier in the night Johnny Reb came to the ring and showered the audience with candy to celebrate the holiday with a treat. Unfortunately the trick was to come at the end of the night. Johnny and Odin went back and forth throughout the match, in a classic battle.
Towards the end of the bout, Balfore knocked out the referee, and his Alliance teammate, Ryan Blake, came to the ring with a steel chair. Right on his heels though, the Southern Rogue himself Doc Henry carried a chair of his own. With the current feuding between Doc and Johnny, it appeared there was going to be a three on one beat down.
That was not the case however as Doc Henry laid out both Blake and Balfore with a pair of Gambler's Hands. Helping out his nemesis, Henry pulled Reb on top of Odin before reviving the referee. As Doc and Blake brawled through the crowd and to parts unknown in the arena, Odin was able to kick out at the last possible second, before going on to recapture the World Title from the Inveterate One.
Doc Henry's actions leave many unanswered questions as to why he would help the man who he has tried to destroy since the dissolution of the New Confederacy. Are we seeing a reunion? Is Doc coming to his senses? What does this mean for proud Southerners? Only time will tell, and the Confederate News Sports desk will be there the whole way.
