- Saturday morning. Late morning. It's 11:45, infact. For a quick backstory on this day, Torture woke up on the hardwood floor of his kitchen. After a rough workout last night, a good Saturday morning breakfast with a good friend might have helped. Meeting Creeping Death for lunch, Nate and Torture thought it was a good idea to meet for breakfast. Torture didn't tell Nate what happened Friday night. It's obvious that Torture would just get looked at weird anyways. Well he hasn't told him yet, but thats to come. For now, they leave the IHOP breakfast. Nate Nytro is following Torture out the door. Torture holds the door open for Nate and as they walk out to the sidewalk, Nate begins to speak.
Nate: You know what isn't fair? Is how my little buddy Torture is getting a World Title shot! Hah!
- Obvious joke. Nate, CD and Tort always joke with each other. However, today, Saturday morning, this morning, this exact point in time. Torture didn't think it was funny.
Torture: Fair? Talk about fair? What's not fair is how you are still getting matches in this company. You don't deserve to be where you are. Nate, I love you like a god damn brother, but for the last two months, you've done nothing but sat there with your painless expressions and fearless pride. I'm tired of it, Nate. Don't tell me whats not fair. Whats not fair is a 22 year old woman losing her life after she witnessed her 8 year old son be killed. Thats not fair.
- Torture just turns around as if what just happened 5 seconds ago, never happened at all. Nate doesn't know what to say. Doesn't know what to do. I don't even know what to do and i'm not even in this situation. Nate just smiles uncomfortably and says..
Nate: I was just jokin'.. man.. you alright?
- Another lightswitch inside his head. Torture does a 180 and gets right in his face again.
Torture: You don't get it? You don't fuckin' get it, do you? Sometimes, life isn't joking. Sometimes, what I do, isn't joking. I can't joke, I can't laugh, I can't smile all the god damn time, Nate. To you this might be a god damn walk through a park. To Nate Nytro, to your brain, this could all be shoots and ladders. To me? To Torture it's not. It's not candy-land. It's real life. It's a struggle that I go through every day, it's a scar on my heart and soul that I have to live with. I don't bring everyone down, Nate. Never have I put someone in my god damn business. You guys were there for me when I hit rock bottom, hell, I was lower than 'in the dumpsters'. You were there for me, Nate. Least you could do is still act like you give a flying shit.
Nate: I do care, Tort..
- Somewhere in Tortures' huge display of unhappiness, or maybe a stress breakdown, Torture put his hands on Nates jacket. Torture slowly removes his hands off of Nate. Torture even more slowly, turns back around to walk away from Nate. Torture's eyes are red. You can see them. Anyone can see them. Nate quickly catches back up to Torture and bumps into him.
Nate: Sorry bro. Didn't mean to say anyth..
- Torture cuts him off as if Nate was a telemarketer trying to sell woman magazines.
Torture: Don't worry. My fault. Didn't mean to blow up at you.
Nate: Apology accepted. No worries. I probably needed it.
- Torture and Nate keep walking down the sidewalk. Where they're going, nobody really knows. The only planned activity was to meet Creeping Death for lunch, but that's not for a few hours. The wind picks up and the breeze blows through. Silence. Not akward silence. Both men know their ground now, and both men know each others stance at this particular place in time. This particular moment. As if the silence was too much to bear for Torture, he begins to speak..
Torture: I feel as if this.. this might be all thats left for me. Like.. This is all I'm going to be. All I'm ever going to be..
Nate: Naw dud..
Torture: No Nate. Like.. I'm alright with it. I feel this might be whats left for me, and to me.. thats cool. I just..
Nate: Just what?
Torture: Don't want to lose. Not now, not here. I was never told I was going to lose.
Nate: You never were told you were going to win either??
Torture: I was born to win. Thats all I know. Every situation. Every wall. Every curve. I either took it, went over it, went through it, or went around it. I always won. Never have I lost.
Nate: So.. now...
Torture: So now, I feel.. that.. If I can win the World Championship belt, that, maybe.. .. maybe..
Nate: Maybe..
Torture: Maybe, Natasha and Benjamin will be happy for me.
Nate: Dude..
- And right there, again, time stands still. This time, for both men. Torture just said the words "Natasha" and "Benjamin" outloud to another living human being, since their unfortanate deaths. Nate Nytro just heard Torture hit the deepest feeling Tortures ever released. Nate follows it up after spending a few seconds to gather everything that just hit him like a baseball. Same for Tort.
Nate: Dude.. Nat and Ben already love you man. They're already happy for you. Believe me. No one feels more happy for you than they do.
Torture: I know that.. but man.. they we're huge into my wrestling, and all Ben used to talk about was how his new dad was a former Wrestler. And Nat? She always talked about how I was her #1. And how the world should feel great that I'm able to be in someones presence, because i'm that great of a person. And now, I've got the chance to be the #1 Wrestler in the world. Becoming World Champion, and pinning J.J. Biggs is not only a dream, not only a wish, but it's something that I want to do.. not only for me.. but for my family.. you included.
- Nate puts his hand on Tortures shoulder. You thought what Torture said earlier was a baseball to the face, then you have to feel what Nate Nytro is now feeling after Tort just talked about how he wants to win for Nate who he just placed into the 'family' category. Nate had to have been hit by a truck, metaphorically speaking.
- Nytro doesn't even say a word. He just takes his hand off of Tort's shoulder. He looks at him in the face. He looks down. He looks back at Tortures eyes, and looks back down again. Torture just stands there. We never noticed before, but people are walking up and down the sidewalk. Places to go, people to see, I guess. Torture and Nate Nytro begin to walk in the desired path they've chosen. Torture just looks off in the distance as Nate just thinks about whats happened in the last ten minutes. Let alone the last six months. The End is Near. For Torture? Whose contract is listed under a forced retirement if he loses a Singles Match. Or is it nearing the end of J.J. Biggs short title reign as World Champion.
- This Sunday at Explosion. It's not just a World Title match. It's not just Wrestling. It's a life and career for two men who've put everything on the line. Well.. almost everything. J.J. Biggs puts everything on the line against Torture. One match will determine whose the future of WCF and whose just floating around at the top. What a nice Saturday Morning. Nice.
