There are many types of matches in wrestling. There are singles, triple threat, tag team, four-way, and battle royal versions of so many different types of matches. There are traditional matches, submission matches, over the top rope elimination matches, table matches, ladder matches, steel cages, ‘hell in a cell’ matches, rages in the cage, tables, ladders, and chairs matches, stretcher matches, casket matches, first blood, and so many other types, it would be hard to name them all. But the one type of match that stands out at Thirteen is the ‘I Quit’ match. At Thirteen, there will be a tag team elimination ‘I Quit’ match featuring not only Club Cool, but Gravedigger and Brad Kane.
There are also many types of wrestlers. There are those that contort their opponents until they tap. There are those who want to bash their opponent around, and slam them face-first into the canvas. There are those who leap through the air to strike from above. And then there are those who just want to inflict pain, and make their opponents suffer with no regard to winning. There are advantages and disadvantages to each style, but there is one technique in wrestling that thrives above all others in an ‘I Quit’ match, and that is the interest in destroying your opponent above all else. The wrestler who wins will be the one who can go into this match abandoning all training and focusing on only destroying their opponent.

There is one match I am even more the underdog than all the others, and that is the I Q...The I Qu... the I Quit match that I seem to be unable to pronounce. People say I don’t have the heart to compete in that kind of match, but those words I just have a hard time saying. I am the one who will never give up. No matter what the fans, or the board of directors, or Creeping Death, or Gravedigger, or Brad Kane, or the Conglomerate, or anybody else has to say about it, I will never give up; I will never stop, and I will never Quit.
Going into Thirteen, I have eleven days of rest, and I’m going to be fully prepared. I’ve balanced my training with my conditioning, and I’m in the best shape of my life. My body is ready, and my mind is ready; I’m set for the pain, and I won’t stop. I am going to step into this match expecting the worst, and a step above death would bring a smile to my face.
The man’s psyche going into an I Qui... an I Qui-yit match will never be the same as when he walks out, because whether he wins or loses, he will suffer an unimaginable pain, one that a man cannot realize exists until he has felt it. And going into this match, I’m going to be ready to go through hell, and when the smoke clears, I won’t be the one slapping the mat with tears running down his cheeks.
My mind, however, is fully ready for this match. I’ve cleared my thoughts, and gotten myself ready for this. The pain I will feel during this match is going to be the likes of which I’ve never before experienced. But I’m going to embrace the pain, and channel my fury back at Gravedigger and Brad Kane to the max. They will feel the Silver Lining’s promise to the fans, and they will both evacuate the match.
Brad Kane is a brutal opponent, and is a legend in the warriors’ art that is wrestling. He’s gone through the likes of Logan, Torture, Outcast, and even the man of the hour, Creeping Death himself. He’s fought wars the likes of which I won’t ever see, but if he wants a war, he’s got one. I’m but a soldier in the barracks, and I’m rising up against he who I once looked up to. But I won’t be the one that gets shamed, embarrassed, and sent back to the back with a frown on his face and his tail between his legs in this dogfight.
I’ve seen Brad Kane fight. I’ve watched him wrestle many times, in fact, and I know that he’s an expert at the art of war. I can imagine he’ll thrive in the war that shall go down at Thirteen, but as the great Winston Churchill once said, ‘wars are not won by evacuations’. He wants a war, he’s got one. I’m going to go into this match, and I ain’t backing down until I hear him say those two words that end it all. I’m not going to run away, and I’m not going to evacuate, no matter how much pain I’m in. I’m not going to give up.
Gravedigger is as great an opponent as there’s ever been; he’s done damned near everything there is to do in this business. He’s held the World Heavyweight Championship several times, and is one of the most accomplished tag team wrestlers in the history of the business. Gravedigger at one point even owned the WCF. But the one thing that comes to mind that Gravedigger hasn’t done is defeated me. And if I have anything to say about it, that statement will remain true even after Thirteen.
Granted, the odds are definitely stacked against me. But the odds have always been stacked against me, and I’ve made a living defying those odds. The same can be said for Alex. And at Thirteen, that’s just what the members of Club Cool plan to do again; we are going to defy the odds when we climb into that ring, and we’ll shock the world twice in one night. We’ll stun the audience when we make Gravedigger say the magic words, and then we’ll send the fans to their feet roaring as the words flow painfully from Brad Kane’s mouth.
Don’t get me wrong, I respect Brad Kane and Gravedigger, but I respect them as the history of the WCF. Their time is past, and it’s time for the future of the WCF to take the spotlight. It’s time for the newest generation of wrestlers to receive the proverbial torch, and time for the historic names like Brad Kane and Gravedigger to pass that torch on. And Alex and I will receive the torch from their hands, and take this company to the next level of wrestling glory.
But it’s not for us that we’re taking the torch; it’s for the fans. If the veterans in this business kept fighting past their time to retire, the fans would get tired of the same old stuff. Not only that, but it’s the elderly who are most at risk in this business for a life-threatening injury, and I for one am not wanting to kill anyone in the ring. It may not be necessarily fun to see a legend step down, but it’s best, for his or her health, and for the fans who love something new.
This match is going to be insane, and I can’t say I’m happy with the suffering that will occur for the four of us, but I’m truly honored to step into the ring with two of the greatest men ever to wrestle for the company. The I Quit elimination match between Club Cool and the team of Brad Kane and Gravedigger will go down in history as one of the greatest matches ever to be fought in the WCF. And win or lose, Alex and I are glad to be the men selected for this match with two legends. But we’re going to show no weakness; we will come out fighting with all our power until our two opponents mutter those words of resignation.
And that is the Silver Lining.
