((Anderson's Note: Bah...do I really need to do these anymore? I guess, but yeah, it's just to keep me in line. Mainly story advancement and so forth. Read on and enjoy!))

According to David's wary mind, the road back home seemed longer than thought. This usually happens, the dark night, no one else on the road, and other factors that make the drive last forever. But this eternity provided a gateway for David to escape the real world for a time being. With Kyoko asleep on the passenger seat, the silence further enhanced a wondering soul, searching the inner sanctum of the psyche.
The psyche scarred by memories of yesterday. However, David's will fails to waver, eager for a better, brighter tomorrow... As he kept driving, he continues the journey into his soul.
The clear night gave way to rain, as if to reflect the tears that David shed since the death of Tasha. Although his late wife is gone, her legacy still present on this Earth. Allison, the daughter that David hadn't seen since he left her in his uncle's care. With this thought of the elderly rabbi, the impulses of Alastair's brain conjured up a seemingly distant memory...

Two years ago...

David couldn't stop drinking, as numerous bottles of alcohol surround him in his small room. The childhood room he grew up on his uncle's home next door to the local synagogue. Such happy memories, shattered by one defining moment. Years of love built up and now demolished with her death. David took one more swig of Jack Daniels, as some of the liquid slipped off his chin, staining his white T-shirt.
David Alastair, as he pictured himself, was a failure. A failure to be his wife's guardian. A failure to be the perfect representative of the family. Of what's left of the family. How can he live for his parents, he thought, if he couldn't even make sure that his own wife and daughter safe...
David's eyes swelled up with burning tears, full of depression and self-hate. With the alcohol taking effect, David slurs out a few words...
David: Fuck this shit! God, why have you done this to me? You, you motherfucker, you took away my parents! And you now took away my wife! Motherfucker! What'd I do to you! What did I do to you!
David stands up, picks up an empty whiskey bottle, and throws it against the wall in a rage. The bottle instantly smashes upon impact....
He then glances at a picture sitting on a small table nearby, consisting of his wedding picture. Pictures may speak a thousand words, with Tasha and Alastair embracing. Smiling with untold happiness. Sadly, this entices David's rage even further. He walks towards the picture, gazes upon it, and then breaks it over the edge of the table...
Just then, his uncle walks in. His tired, brown eyes shot open wide. In describing the older rabbi, he was tallish, brown hair and facial hair. Dressed in complete rabbi's garb. Seeing the fit of anger expressed by David, the rabbi put a hand on the younger man's shoulder...
Uncle: David...David! Calm down! Please, I'm sure Tasha doesn't want you to hurt yourself like this....
David snapped back, shoving the rabbi's arm off of his shoulder.
David: What do you fucking know about Tasha?! You didn't know her as well as I fuckin' did!
Alastair then looked to his hands, which were trembling. From there, he fell to his knees and covered his face in shame.
David: I....don't want Allison to see this. This sick, disgusting person that I have become...I hate myself, I hate myself. How can I live without her, Uncle? She was everything to me... She made me happy. And now, she's taken away from me...
The rabbi, slowly but surely, dropped to his knees. David looks up, his eyes meeting that of his guardian's...
Uncle: David, you will rebuild yourself. But, you need some help.
David blinks, while attempting to wipe away the tears staining his face...
Uncle: I will get ahold of a person I know in Japan. She will help you try to stand again, dear David. But for now, you must get some sleep. You will be leaving in a few days...
David nods in exhaustion and stumbles towards his bed, a mere four feet away. Due to the effects of all the alcohol he consumed, he fell asleep...

Alastair's mind stirs back into reality, as he readjusts to get more comfortable in his car seat...
Suddenly, a dark figure darted across the road, in front of David's Chrysler Sebring...
David's awareness quickly heightened and swerved out of the way....
David: HOLY SHIT!!
With all of his ability, David managed to keep the car on the road. However, it resulted in a complete 180 degree spin. Along with the car spinning out, Kyoko was already jolted upright in her seat....
Kyoko: What the hell was that? What happened?
In front of the Sebring, the figure looked at the car a few hundred yards away. The headlights revealed an individual in a brown trenchcoat. The person stared for a minute longer before ducking away into the darkness...
David literally sat there in shock. Trying to recover from what happened. At least, there was nobody else on the road during this time of night. Just as David's mind started racing, Kyoko looks over at him...
Kyoko: Are you okay, David?
David inhales and exhales...
David: I'm fine. Let's just keep going...
With that remark, the Sebring turned around and continued towards its destination...
