The scene returns as the Vice family is being seated at their table at Fleming's in San Diego. Other customers watch them carefully as they walk through the dining room in less than impressive formal wear. The three sit at a round table and allow the hostess to place their respective menus in front of them. Janie places her napkin upon her lap. She eyes both of her brothers and encourages them to do the same, the same way a mother would act to wards her children in a nice place.
Thanks for coming to Flemings, your server will be right with you. I'll let the manager know your here so he can stop by. He always likes to meet...uh...famous people?
The backhanded compliment goes right over the Vice brothers' heads, but Janie lets out a small chuckle. She always finds it entertaining when someone takes a shot at her brother. Even she knows the only thing bigger than his head is the chip on his shoulder.
So Danny, what do you think about this Chino character?
Who?
Jimmy and Janie look at each other, then look back at Danny. Danny seems to genuinely not know who Jimmy is asking about. He leans back in his chair, puts both arms up at his sides with his palms in the air, and shrugs.
Danny, Chino is the man you are facing this Sunday on Slam. He's part of Devastation Inc.
Danny raises his eyebrows and shrugs his shoulders again.
They're the number one contenders for the tag team titles at Ultimate Showdown. Chino and JackHammer. These guys are huge. Chino is like 8 feet tall!
Jimmy extends one hand over his head and the other beneath the table as if to measure Chino's height. Danny starts to look around the restaurant to see if there is someone who can fill up his water.
Danny, this is your first match in the WCF. Please tell me you at least know who your opponent is and that you've watched at least a little bit of tape on him to prepare for Sunday.
This place has absolutely the worst service. Don't they know the Vagrant is here?
DANNY!DANNY!
The Vice twins try to get Danny to focus on the week's upcoming match. However, they drew the attention of the entire restaurant in the process. Janie is somewhat embarrassed and mouths apologies to the nearby patrons. Jimmy remains completely clueless to his disturbance of the local ambiance. Danny finally looks at both of them and smiles.
Of course the Vagrant knows who Chino is. The Vagrant is not only the most talented new wrestler in the WCF, but also the most prepared and dedicated to his craft. The WCF is not much different from the Omni hotel. The Omni hotel has many levels and many different rooms. The Omni hotel is known for its prestige and beauty. And yet, when one enters the Omni hotel, not everything is beautiful.
Janie and Jimmy look at Danny as if he is speaking French.
Let the Vagrant put it this way. In every hotel, there are people staying who do not belong there. These people stay in smaller rooms. Rooms with tiny showers that don't run hot water, and closets the size of Chino's manhood. The bedsheets are thin, and the comforters...well...the Vagrant doesn't even like to think about what is on those. However, at every hotel like the Omni, there are people who do belong. They stay in illustrious suites on the top floor. The greatest view, finest sheets, largest closets. The whole nine yards. These rooms have jacuzzis with mini refrigerators beside them. The little ones that open with a key.
You're not making any sense.
Chino is one of the rooms that don't belong. He lacks charisma, drive, and ability. Skyler Striker, that preacher, is another lower level room. People like Logan, Jack of Blades and Torture currently occupy the palatial suites. The Vagrant knows he must first earn his right to stay there, but is disgusted at the quarters the WCF has thus far provided him. This Sunday at Slam, the Vagrant will merely point that out to the rest of the federation.
The hostess returns to the table, cautiously. She looks back at her fellow hostesses who seem to be encouraging her to approach the table. She holds a pad of paper and a pen and seems to be blushing. Danny sits up in his chair, eager to finally be recognized and respected by an adoring fan.
Excuse me, Mr. Vagabond...
It's Vagrant. Danny "The Vagrant" Vice. What can the Vagrant do for you?
Ya, Vagrant. Of course. Do you know Torture?
Yes, The Vagrant knows Torture. Torture is allowed to share the same locker room as the Vagrant.
Well, do you think you could get him to sign this for me?
Danny stands quickly from his chair and slams his napkin down on the table. He walks directly past the hostess and out the frontdoor. Jimmy hurries after him. Janie sits at the table laughing to herself at her brother's arrogance.
Wait, so is he "The Vagrant"? Why does he talk about himself in the third person?
Scene fades.
