...continued from where "A Mystery Man Emerges" left off
[Bobby is sitting in the back of the limousine, uncertain as to why he’s there, but excited nonetheless. Mr. Regent casually pours himself a glass of sherry and then looks up at Bobby.]
Mr. Regent: "Would you care for a drink, Mr. Cairo?"
Bobby: "No, thank you."
Mr. Regent: "Well, then let me straight to the point. I have a business proposal for you."
Bobby: "What kind of business proposal?"
Mr. Regent: "I own a company named Regent Industries. Among other things, we've developed a new line of energy drinks called Blue Thunder. We want you to endorse this new product, Mr. Cairo."
Bobby: "That sounds great, Mr. Regent. Where do I sign up?"
[Regent chuckles at Bobby's blind enthusiasm.]
Mr. Regent: "I'm glad that you're excited, Bobby, but there is a catch: You must win the WCF World Title. We're only interested in the endorsements of champions and obviously you're not wearing any gold right now."
Bobby: "Is that so? Well, then why are you approaching me instead of Outcast?"
Mr. Regent: "Mr. Taylor isn't exactly what we're looking for. However, your clean-cut, hard-working, all-American image makes you the perfect candidate to be our spokesman."
Bobby: "But that's only if I win the title, right?"
Mr. Regent: "Yes, it is contingent on you winning the title."
Bobby: "That seems simple enough."
Mr. Regent: "I know that there must be a million questions running through your head right now--"
Bobby: "Not really. I'm a high school dropout."
Mr. Regent: "Even so, I've taken the liberty of scheduling us for a tour of the plant, which is located just outside of town. I'm sure this tour will clear up any questions that you may, or may not, have about our product."
Bobby: "Outstanding!"
[After a few minutes, the limousine pulls up in front of the Blue Thunder manufacturing plant. An ominous-looking black cloud of smoke hangs over the factory, but Bobby is completely oblivious as Mr. Regent leads him inside the building.]
Bobby: "I have to tell you, Mr. Regent, I'm very excited about this. I've never been inside of a bottling plant before."
[Regent leads Bobby around the various areas of the facility from the filters to the bottling area and so on. Many of the employees in the plant have a certain look of fear in their eyes as Mr. Regent walks through the building. Bobby finds this unusual, but doesn't say anything. After the tour is completed, Bobby and Regent shake hands, reaching a sort of preliminary business agreement.]
Mr. Regent: "It's been a pleasure doing business with you, Bobby. We can finalize the specifics once you win that title. Now, let's get you back home."
[As the brand-new business partners speed off in their limousine, the employees of the plant gather around the entrance with a look of terror on their faces.]
