A camera is directed at a sign bolted to the side of a wall that reads “On-Air” quickly zooming in on the bulb contained in metal and plastic. The red letters are vaguely visible in the dimly lit area of filming until the sign becoming illuminated and there is a dead silence before the camera turns and focuses on a man behind a soundboard donning a pair of black headphones, pulling a hanging microphone in front of him and addressing his listeners. He is a portly, balding man, with a voice and face for radio.
DJ: Goooooooood morning Providence! It is ten o'clock on a Monday morning here on 1130 AM, The Mat, and it is time for Wrestling 411. This morning we are bringing you the LATEST in the world of sports entertainment and will be looking at one of the most exciting federations in the professional wrestling industry, the World Championship Federation. Joining us a little later on in our show is one of the best in the WCF, Mr. Allen Guiliano, better known to you wrestling fans as Slickie T. He is the #1 Contender for the top title in his federation and is arguably one of the best in the business without gold around his waist. We will ask him about his upcoming Battle Royal this week, as well as what he has to about some of his competitors, including the Commissioner of the WCF, Brad Kane.
BUT, before we bring on the master of the T-Bone, let's take a look back and what happened last week in the WCF. For those of you who don't follow this federation, you are truly missing out. After one of the GREATEST pay-per-view event's that I have ever seen in December, the WCF followed it up by one of the best weekly shows that I have ever seen. Seth Lerch seems poised to bring his organization into 2010 with a roar and if last Monday night's Slam was a look into the future, the WCF will be more exciting than ever.
Slam started off with a bang last week as the reigning World Champion, Torture, addressed the fans of the WCF after his narrow victory over our guest in one of the most memorable main events in the history of sports entertainment. The fans of the WCF didn't seem to enjoy Torture's commentary very much and he was eventually interrupted by none other than Seth Lerch himself who announced that Torture would face Logan at the next pay-per-view event, Ten, which set the tone for the rest of the evening. To make a long story short, the rest of the show was devoted to a match this week at Slam where the winner of a Battle Royal would be guaranteed a spot in the Title Match at Ten with Torture and Logan. As the night carried on, superstars were added to the match for a variety of reasons, creating the main event for this Monday night which features a handful of superstars that all share a hatred for the current World Title holder, including Mikami, former World Title holders Johnny Reb and Dake Ken, Rick Mad, the Commissioner Brad Kane, and our guest, Slickie T.
Results from last week's Slam included a double count out of Tank Reaper and Alex Jones, but the big story was the return of Chris Avery who was hiding the in rafters during the match between Reaper and Jones and attacked Tank with a series of chair shots following the match. The World Tag Team Titles were retained by Johnny Reb and Doc Henry, otherwise known as The New Confederacy, as they earned a convincing win over Mikami and Ryan Daniels. In a later match, it appeared that the patriotism would reign supreme as D-Day pulled a tremendous upset over Madd Dogg in his much anticipated return to the ring, but when the mask was pulled off of the newly crowned WCF Hall of Famer, it was revealed that D-Day had actually pinned Hank Brown and Madd Dogg was hiding in the crowd. Dogg had the last laugh as he viciously attacked D-Day ending his night with a trip to the medical center. Chad Evans and Bobby Cairo made an appearance in a three on one bout that featured Brad Kane taking on The Big Time Jerks and Prince Jimmy Dean. Kane, somehow, emerged with the victory despite his nearly insurmountable odds. Hector Rodriguez was impressive in a win against newcomer Machine, but the big news was what happened at the end of that match, as Rodriguez laid out his long time manager Carlos Estrada with a Toluca Slam. The mystery of what Hector reacted the way he did was not revealed, but hopefully we can get some answers this week.
The WCF's lone female superstar and Television Champion, Anastasia Petrova, retained her title as she defeated another newcomer to the World Championship Federation, Facade. Following that match it was announced that Bobby Cairo would return to the WCF as an announcer as his “employee” Emily Hotchkiss persuaded Mr. Lerch to allow Cairo to have the position. Kevin Hardaway was victorious in a match against Hotdog Mascot and Slickie T avenged a loss to the man that nearly broke him in half, Greenfever, in a bout just before the main event. It was unknown how the Italian would be received by the fans after he failed to deliver on his promise to the fans of the WCF by defeating Torture at One, but the ovation was louder than it had ever been as his music played over the speakers and he was introduced to the fans for the first time since his defeat on December 20. After that match Creeping Death made the announcement that he was returning to the World Championship Federation on a full time basis and defeated a cameraman in order to earn himself a spot in the World Title match to be held at Ten, making it a four-way battle for the WCF's most prestigious honor.
Prior to the main event featuring a World Title defense by Tortue against Ace Slaughter, a long and violent brawl erupted between two feuding superstars, Logan and Jay Price. Neither man really gained the upper hand in the fight until it spilled over into a locker room and then through a back door before Logan nearly killed the up and coming Price with a Connector on the bare pavement. The status of Jay Price is unknown at this point, but we all hope that he will be alright and make a healthy return to the ring. And finally, in the main event, despite trying to get himself disqualified so he would not have to defend his title, Torture was able to earn the victory over Ace Slaughter and retain his World Title.
Wherever you are, thanks for tuning in here to 1130 AM, The Mat, we will be right back with this week's Slam card and the anticipated interview with Allen Guiliano. Back in 90 after a word from our sponsers.
The host of the show removes the headsets and takes a swig of water from a clear plastic bottle as local commercials begin to play in the studio. The host then gets up out of his chair and stretches his arms over his head and walking a small circle around the studio to stretch his legs before returning to his rolling chair, resetting the headphones over his ears, and looking toward a producer in another room who is counting down from 10. The produce drops his last finger and points to the host through the plexiglass wall and the “On-Air” sign becomes illuminated once again.
DJ: We are back here on Wrestling 411 on The Mat and in case you are just joining us, this week we are taking a look at the World Championship Federation. Before we get to our interview, let's take a look at this week's card for Slam that will take place this Monday night, right here in Providence, Rhode Island at Providence Civic Center.
The show will get off to a quick start as current Television Champion, Anastasia Petrova will defend her title against Machine. Petrova was successful in her defense a week ago against Facade, while the Machine suffered a loss at the hands of Hector Rodriguez. Should be a good one to get Slam underway. You would think that Anastasia would be the favorite, but stranger things have happened in the WCF.
In the second match of the evening, Chad Evans and Prince Jimmy Dean, or The Royal Family or even The Big Dick Superstars as they want to be called, will take on The Big Time Jerks in tag team action. Evans will be making his return to the ring in the WCF, while the Jerks look to get back on track after losing their Tag Team belts to The New Confederacy. This match should show us in what kind of shape Chad Evans is in returning to the ring.
The #1 Contendership for the United State Title will be up in Slam's third match that contains Tank Reaper, Doc Henry, Ryan Daniles, D-Day, and Hector Rodriguez. This should be one of the most exciting bouts of the evening as each of these men are craving a title to call their own. It is hard to pick a favorite with the efforts that we have seen from these competitors as of late, but if I had to pick one, I would say that Hector has really show a new side of himself in 2010 and looks to be on a roll, however, D-Day has really stepped up his game as of late and Doc has been on a mission for the U.S. Title for quite some time. Pay close attention to this one as it will definitely be worth the price of admission.
Following that tremendous Battle Royal for a shot at US gold will be a singles match between Kevin Hardaway and Ace Slaughter. Slaughter was unsuccessful in his attempt to dethrone Torture at the top of the WCF a week ago, but defeated Hardaway for the United States Championship in a match that also featured Jack Cash. Although this is a non-title match, Hardaway is set out to prove that their 2009 meeting was a fluke and that he should be the one in possession of the United States Title.
In a tag match before the well anticipated main event, Davey Ortega, who was hired at Slam by Commissioner Brad Kane as the Co-Commissioner of the WCF, will be teaming up with Greenfever to take on Madd Dogg and Creeping Death. Basically what he have here is a team of Seth's associates up against a team of men who can't stand the federation's owner. There will be a lot of talent in the ring in this match, I just hope that four posts and some ropes are enough to contain it or it could get out of hand in a hurry.
And speaking of the ring being able to contain talent, the final match of the evening will be the Battle Royal for that final spot in the World Title match at the end of the month at Ten. As we mentioned at the top of the show, the main event will feature Co-Commissioner Brad Kane, Mikami, Dake Ken, Johnny Reb, Rick Mad, and Slickie T. Fans, pick your favorite superstar in this one as it appears to be a complete toss-up. Kane has been looking forward to getting his shot at the World Title for quite awhile, while two former champions, Johnny Reb and Dake Ken will also be in the mix. Mikami has proven he is not to be taken lightly as has Rick Mad, but perhaps the one that everyone will be watching is Slickie T. He was so close that he could TASTE the title in the WCF's final pay-per-view of 2009 and proved last week in his win over Greenfever that he wants nothing more than another shot at the belt. Personally, I'm afraid to pick a winner, because I think there are three guys who have an equal shot at winning this thing, and one of them is my guest later on in the show, but I would hate to jinx him for this HUGE match. Dake Ken and Johnny Reb have obviously proven to everyone that they are indeed World Championship material, but Dake has had a long layoff and Reb seems to be in some sort of a funk since Torture recaptured the title from him. Your guess is as good as mine, but if I had to pick two horses, I would take Brad Kane and Slickie T, but that is just a hunch. All six will have one mission on their mind and who knows who will work together or be the one singled out.
Once again we have to take a quick break and will be back in 60 seconds with an interview from a man that will be taking place in that Battle Royal, Mr. Allen Guiliano. You are listening to Wrestling 411 on 1130 AM, The Mat!
Local commercials and even an advertisement for this week's Slam plays over the speakers as the host removes his headset once again and refreshes himself with a swig of water. He picks up a phone that sits off to left of the soundboard and addresses his guest on the other end of the line.
DJ: Allen, just making sure you are there on the other line. We will be going on in about 45 seconds. Just let me know if you need a little more time and I will see what I can do. I will try to make it short and sweet for you because I am sure there are other things you have to get to before your match this evening.
Guiliano: I'm ready to go on when you are and feel free to take as long as you like. I don't want you to feel rushed on account of me. This is your job and I'm just excited to be with you. Ask anything you want and feel free to take callers if you want.
DJ: Alright, well you stay on the line and I will be back on the air with you in about 15 seconds and we will get started. I'll put you on the air so you can hear the lead in.
The producer in the other room once again counts down on his right hand 5...4...3...2...1 and then points to the host once more as the show returns to the airwaves, ready to introduce his interviewee.
DJ: Fans, we are back once again here on Wrestling 411 and are focusing on the World Championship Federation, who will be hosting their weekly show this week right here in Providence on Monday night at the Providence Civic Center. My guest this morning is the #1 Contender to the WCF's World Title, Allen Guiliano, better known to the wrestling world as Slickie T. Allen, thanks for coming on the show with us this morning and taking time out of your day to field a few questions for a wrestling junkie like myself.
Guiliano: Oh, its no problem at all, thanks for having me on. I'm glad that there are people out there like you and shows like this to not only promote our sport, but spark conversation about the world of sports entertainment and create buzz about professional wrestling. Sure, it is my job to entertain the fans and put on a good show, but guys like you are the reason that people show up each and every week knowing what to expect from federations like the WCF.
DJ: Some of our listeners out there may not be familiar with the World Championship Federation or familiar with your role within that organization, so, to start, how about you introduce yourself and what it is you are up against this Monday night right here in Providence, Rhode Island.
Guiliano: Well, I think everyone is familiar with my name at this point, so I will get straight to the point and make this short and sweet so we can get to your questions. This Monday night I will be up against five other men in a Battle Royal competition and the winner will be granted a spot in the World Championship Title match at the WCF's next pay-per-view event at the end of the month. As some of you out there know and as some of you don't, I was defeated at the last pay-per-view event in a knock down, drag out fight that left both my opponent and I battered, broken, and on the verge of exhaustion, but unfortunately for me, I came out on the losing end of the match and have been hoping for another shot at that World Title and this event on Monday night will give me that chance.
DJ: Mr. Guiliano, you made some strong statements in your last promo about how despite your loss, you we be a better and more successful superstar in 2010, but there are five other men in that match at Slam that are out to prove just the opposite and say that you have already had your chance at Torture's World Title and it is now their turn. Not all of your opponents have fired back at the promo that you cut the other night, but a couple of them have and some of the things that stand out to me are the words that were spoken by Mikami and Brad Kane, the Commissioner of the WCF. Mikami, a man that you have defeated many times in the past, spoke about how you “always stay in your casino” and think you are “predestined” to win the upcoming match, and then there were statements by Kane you have already had your shot and he has been waiting in the wings for many years now and he will get his shot at what should be rightfully his because of his commitment and his experience in the WCF. How do you respond to these statements and what is your attitude toward these two men?
Guiliano: I have heard about everything from everybody about my career, my past matches, my failures, and my shortcomings, but hardly anyone mentions my successes. I could care less that Mikami is comparing me to a Rolex watch, and a fake one at that, because I have shown him on more than one occasion that I am capable of defeating him. I beat him in the past to become the United States Champion and also defended that title against him more than once. Is he a talented individual? Sure he is, but he isn't in the same league as some of the other men in this match on Monday night. There are former World Title holders that will be stepping into that ring with me on Monday and Mikami isn't one of them.
As far as Brad Kane is concerned, I could care less how long he has been in the World Championship Federation and how long he has been waiting to try and take down Torture for the World Title. I have proven myself over and over again that I belong in the conversation with the top tier superstars in the WCF and have also shown that I am indeed the best wrestler in this federation. I am more focused now than I have ever been and I showed that last week when I avenged my loss to Greenfever after he nearly ended my career at XIII. I don't care that Brad Kane has been here for six years and in some match long ago he pinned Torture. None of that stuff matters on Monday. The only thing that matters is that I have a chance to get at shot at the World Title one more time and he is one of the men that I must go through to do it. At least I know that Mr. Kane is a family man, I mean it made it very obvious that he is all about taking care of his kids and his wife, not to mention her sexual needs. I respect that Brad, but for your sake, I hope that you plan on avoiding me at all costs on Monday night, because I would hate for your wife and kids to see you after a match like the one that will occur at Slam. No matter who comes out on top, the winner will be feeling it for the next several days. It also seems that Brad is on a little bit of a power trip as of late, making Mr. Ortega his “Co-Commissioner”. Perhaps he thinks he is above the rest of the roster because of his title. I don't know what the issue is, but he had better be free of distractions for the Battle Royal or it could be ugly.
DJ: Wow, sounds like you are definitely on a mission to get your hands on that title belt. You have had quite the road in the WCF to end up where you are today. Allen, you have defeated Hall of Famers and legends in your organization, but have yet to get a victory over Torture, the current World Title holder. As you said before, you suffered a loss to him in your only World Championship match. If you do indeed emerge as the victor at Slam, how will you approach the ultimate match the second time around?
Guiliano: Well, when I earn my spot in that title match at Ten, it will be a different animal this time around. Not only will Torture be looking to defend his title, two other men will also be in the ring. It is hard enough to take out Torture one on one, but having to go through Logan and Creeping Death will make things much more difficult. Logan and Creeping Death are no strangers to winning wrestling matches and when you get four guys in the ring that refuse to lose, it makes for one hell of a spectacle. Sure, I would like to get my opportunity to beat Torture in a singles match again, but that would be just a minor detail if I were to finally get my hands on his belt. As long as Torture is the one that I get to pin to claim the title, I will be ultimately satisfied.
DJ: The feud between the two of you has escalated as of late and was white hot at the time of your title match. Is the feud still ongoing or did the outcome of your encounter at One pretty much put an end to the discussion? I mean, I'm sure he is wanting to regain control of his company, CoolWear Inc., but as far as in-ring discussions, what is the condition of the rivalry between the two of you?
Guiliano: I would say that the feud has had time to cool off a little bit since he was able to defeat me in December, but as far as him still wanting to regain what was his before One, I'm sure he is still hell bent on taking over control of CoolWear Inc. once again. I don't really understand what he is worried about though. CoolWear has profited more under my control that anyone could have possibly predicted and I am 100% convinced that it was because of the show that we put on for the fans around the world in Los Angeles. I took down his stable of men by myself and although he is playing that off as no big deal, it is one less hurdle that I have to overcome if there is a Slickie T/Torture II. He has been beaming with confidence as of late, and who can blame him after his latest victory, but our rivalry goes far beyond a heel against a face. We both made it personal leading up to our Title Match at One and it is only going to escalate from here, especially since I even have the CHANCE to face him again. Hopefully this time I can reverse the result and the next time you have me on, I will be the World Champion instead of the #1 Contender.
DJ: Well, I hope you are right, you have been a great guest and I'm sorry that our time has been so short, but we have to let you go at 10:30. Earning the title of #1 Contender has been quite the accomplishment, especially for someone who has been in a federation for less than a year like yourself. Before we go, is there anything you would like to say to the fans out there that are thinking about heading out Monday night to the Providence Civic Center for the next WCF event?
Guiliano: I think the event will speak for itself and for anyone that hasn't been to a WCF event, they don't know what they are missing out on and for those who have know exactly what they will be getting at Slam this Monday night. The Battle Royal main event will be well worth the price of admission, not to mention all the other excellent matches that Seth has booked for this week. The wrestling fans in Rhode Island are definitely getting a treat this week and I hope all of them will take advantage of it. Come out and support your favorite superstar or even the sport of professional wrestling in general, I promise we will put on a good show for each and every one of you. And for those of you out there who are Slickie T fans, I will not disappoint this week and I WILL be earning a spot in that World Title contest at Ten. Honestly, would the WCF be able to celebrate its ten years of existence without me? I don' t think so.
DJ: Confident words from a confident superstar. Once again, this Monday night at the Providence Civic Center, Allen Guiliano and the rest of the World Championship Federation stars will be in action for Slam. Get your tickets if you already haven't, they are going fast, and may even be sold out. As of this morning when we went onto the air there were still a few hundred to be had, but I'm sure they are about gone, especially after words like that from our guest here this morning. Allen, thanks for joining us this morning and keeping us up to date on your career in the WCF.
Guiliano: No problem. Thanks for having me on.
DJ: Well, we are approaching 10:30 and it is time for our one long break of the morning. We will be back to take you to the 11 o'clock hour for this two minute break. You are listening to Wrestling 411 on 1130 AM, The Mat!
The scene fades to black as the camera returns to its original position and the “On-Air” sign dims once again.
