The Early Days
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sitting in her room,
All day long.
She is sitting there singing,
Her own sad song.
A song about misery,
A song about hope.
A song about a problem,
and how to cope.
She wants someone to love her,
She wants someone to care.
But when she turns around,
Nobody is ever there.
She wants a family,
and some friends that she can call her own.
She wants all these things,
So she doesn't have to be alone.
She's hoping someone will love her,
She's hoping someone will care.
She hears something and turns around,
And notices that nobody's there.
Zoey's days as a child weren't exactly the easiest. She was constantly teased at school about her hair color and for her being a little shorter than most girls. She was always getting pushed around and coming home crying. When it came to her family, her life wasn't exactly much better, the only person she had there who cared about her was her mother. Her dad was an alcoholic who loved going to bars instead of being there for the rest of the family. Her brother was a junkie who was mostly in jail. Zoey always asked herself day and night, "Why did this have to happen to me? What did I do wrong?". No one could answer that question, the one that was tearing her apart so much inside. She tried to be strong and not show how much she was depressed inside. "Life can be such a wonderful world, it can be so much fun and full of excitement!". Zoey heard that phrase so often, although she couldn't understand anymore why people say that. "If only they knew... If only they knew, then they wouldn't go around saying that anymore, because they would finally understand what I am going through."

When bad turns worse
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I awake each morning to start a new day
But the pain of loosing you never goes away.
I go about the things I have to do
And as the hours pass I think again of you.
I want to call you and just hear your voice
Then I remember that I have no choice
For you are not there and now my heart cries
Just to see you again to tell you goodbye
To say Mama I love you and I always will
And hope that much of you, in me you've instilled.
The day that you left I just didn't know
That you were going where I couldn't go.
And now all my memories of you are so dear
But gosh, how I miss you and wish you were here.
Who now can hear me when I need to cry?
It so hard to tell you "Mama goodbye."
Someday I know all will be well
And I'll see you again with stories to tell
Of how you were missed and how we have grown
And how good it is to finally be home.
Until then my memories of you I'll keep near
And I'll pass them on to those who are dear.[/b][/i]
It was a late windy summer day. The crisp brown leafes were rustling as light gusts of air swerved between them. The sounds of birds chirping could be heard everywhere. Zoey was laying on her small bed, her head resting on her fluffy white cusion pillow, and her pink and purple blanket pulled up halfway of her thin body. She was wearing her "Pink Power Ranger" t-shirt and a pair of blue denim jeans. Her eyes were half way closed and she was about to fall asleep as all of a sudden a loud commotion started outside of her room. "Oh great" she thought to herself, "Here we go again...". Her mom and dad were fighting again, nothing new there. The commotion turned to screaming, then sounds of something shattering on a wall. Zoey's mom opened her door and walked in, slamming the thin wooden door shut behind her.
"Zoey, I'm going to go out, I need to cool off. Do you want to come with me?"
"No mama. I'm still tired and need to get some sleep before I go to school in the morning, don't want to end up like yesterday, getting detention for falling asleep in Mr. Smith's math class."
"Alright, Ill be back in an hour or so."
"Alrighty"
Her mom walked out of her room and soon after the engine of her mom's 1970 teal colored Camero started up and could be heard driving off. Several hours passed by and Zoey was woken to the sound of her phone ringing. She stood up slowly and tossed her blanket to the side. She stretched her arms up and let out a long yawn. As she made the way to the phone at a snails pace, she started rubbing her eyes, still attempting to wake up. She finally reached her mobile phone and picked it up and put it to her right ear.
"Hello?"
"Is this Miss Marilou Im speaking with?"
"Yeah, who are you?"
"This is Dr. Davis from Regional Hospital, there has been an accident."
Zoey's eyes now opened so wide it appeared they would pop out of her head. She briefly gasped for air, and was hoping, no praying that this wasn't going to be anything serious.
"Wh-What kind of accident?" Zoey stuttered, barely getting those words out of her mouth.
"Is your mother Mrs. Jane Marilou?"
"Yes... Why? What happened?!"
"She was involved in a car accident early this afternoon."
Zoey was standing there in shock, unable to move.
"Is she ok?"
"Im afraid not. We tried everything we could, but weren't able to save her. Her wounds were just too bad."
Zoey just opened her hand up some and the phone dropped to the ground. She placed her hand over her mouth and her eyes filled up with tears. "This has to be a mistake, it just has to be." She thought to herself, when in the back of her mind she knew it wasn't. The only person now who cared about her was gone, just gone. She dropped to her knees and bent forwards and tear drops could be seen rapidly falling to the floor. She still was in too much of a shock to let her emotions out and cry. She knew that she didn't have to go to her father about this, because he would most likely just run straight to the bar and celebrate. She just curled up on the floor and covered her head with her arms. "Why her god, why of all people did you now have to take her away from me?" Zoey screamed out furiously. For her, there was no god anymore.
