Mikami looks at the tombstone that the Team of Torture had commissioned. But this isn't a graveyard or funeral home. It's the interior of Mikami's apartment, and the tombstone is behind a glass case. As a trophy.
Mikami: Just as planned. I had nothing to worry about after all.
Episode 24 – Revival

2 days before XIII
Mikami is in his apartment, sitting in a recliner and staring at the currently empty glass case. He reaches over to the coffee table on his right side and picks up a small tape recorder. He leans back, holds it up near his mouth and hits the “record” button before he starts to speak in Japanese.
Mikami: November the eleventh. Something does not seem right. Steve Carr is not the type to ask for a handicap match. Yet that is what it will turn into if things get out of hand. He has to know that. Even if Torture won't get his hands dirty with this sort of thing, and if Jay Price is too busy preparing for his match. Even if we have to rely on the unreliable Ryan Daniels, or Anthrax who doesn't seem to be around much. This match is too valuable. The prestige we could get from permanently removing Steve Carr from wrestling would be incalculable. Even in a group led by the World Champion, a man who is one of the most unbeatable in all of sports. Besides which, contrary to pubic belief, we do not have nothing to lose.
He sits up in the chair, looking down at the floor, thinking. He brushes his hand through his hair and continues.
If Steve Carr wins, he would officially be back. This isn't a win against Rick Mad. This would be legitimate. He claims he is done with wrestling, but this would potentially be the start of a career revival. The Team of Torture cannot have that. To this point, he hasn't been much of a problem, but he could potentially be a very large thorn in Torture's side. In summation, the ToT is motivated to use their full resources to win. A Steve Carr victory is impossible. He has chosen a match in which anyone can interfere, and in fact has given permission for us to do so...as if we needed it.
He stands up out of the chair and paces.
Why would he do this? He is not that proud of a man. Not at this stage of career. He knows his limitations. There are only two plausible answers to this question that I can think of. Number one, this is some kind of trap. He wants to get as many of the ToT in one place as possible. Not realistic. As I said earlier, it is highly unlikely that the entire ToT would come to my aid, and I'm sure that he knows this. In addition, he does not seem to have any particular animosity towards the rest of the ToT. When I first lost to Torture, he no longer was any of Carr's concern. It is possible he has the means to trap the ToT, but he has no motive.
He stops pacing and leans on the kitchen counter.
The other answer is that he wants to lose. He wants an excuse to disappear again. He cannot just get up and leave, because he would look like a coward, since I attacked him. Besides which, he is the type who always wants that final, epic battle. Maybe he even feels like he needs to “pass the torch” to me.
He sighs and turns around, leaning now on his back and elbows instead of his forearms.
Present these observations to Torture. If he has no opinion, recommend that we proceed as planned.
He hits the stop button and sits back down in the chair. Something occurs to him and he hits record again.
Be sure to tell Torture that the notion that Steve Carr would not follow through on the stipulations of the match is not something to be considered. It is impossible. He is far too honourable for that.
He hits stop again.
Unless he found a loophole, but, no, that's not possible. The wording is precise. If Steve Carr loses, then, for all intents and purposes, he is dead.

He turns away from the case and smirks.
Mikami: Rest in pieces, you bastard.
