Repent
The sceane opens somewhere in New York City given away by the constant passing of yellow cabs the sun is shining brightly not a cloud in the sky as busy New Yorkers pass by some with cell phones clues to their ear, It’s then that we see an old gothic looking church its bricks showing signs of decay as well as moss a concrete path leads up to an archway that has a image of Christ nailed to the cross under that a set of massive wooden doors. It’s then that we see a black fifty seven Chevy it windows heavily tinted to the point where you cannot see inside it slowly pull out in front of the church the throbbing of the v8 is finally silence as we see the number plate on it simply read’s “TS”. The driver’s door slowly opens and that’s when Carl steps out wearing an old blue beanie his uncouth hair pocking out from under it his normal torn and ripped coat a pair of stained and ripped gym pants and mismatched shoes his hand still heavily bandage now looking a little worse for wear
Carl slowly moves around to the passenger side door of the Chevy and opens it that’s when a black steel cap boot hits the pavement and none other than Tyler Straven steps out into view his long black hair covering his face a black leather trench coat covers his body his face showing no emotion as his eyes scan the era looking for any possible threat to his safety as Carl closes the door. Tyler reaches into the pocket on his trench coat pulling out a packet of cigarettes taking one out Carl quickly flicks open a Zippo he was carrying to and places the flame in front of Tyler’s face who leans in puffing to ignite the smoke. Tyler slowly starts to make his way up the path Carl following behind him Tyler reaches back and stops him Carl nods and turn back around making his way back to the car he leans against it as Tyler continues up the path towards the doors.
Tyler comes to the wooden door and reaches out for the handle and turns it a click is herd as he pulls open the door and steps inside slowly, Inside the church the pews are empty and altar boy is up the front dressed in white sporting the normal bowl cut singing a traditional religious song softly. Religious symbols and phrases line the walls and older looking man wearing a priest robe is moving around doing the dusting, Tyler just stands there in silence for a moment listening to the sound of the boys voice before he slowly makes his way down towards the front the sound of his heavy footsteps echoing causing the priest eye’s to instantly look up to see the shadowy looking individual that is Tyler Straven.
The priest show no sign of being intimated by Tyler as he places the duster he has in his hands on pew and shuffles his way toward Tyler who has now made his way to the front row and taken a set looking at the lavishly decorated alter where the boy still remains singing softly, Tyler’s face shows a man deep in contemplation as the priest comes close to him and takes a seat next to him even thou Tyler fails to even acknowledge his presence. A few moments pass as both men sit in silence before the priest finally coughs and starts to talk.
Reverend John: “You look like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders”.
Tyler slowly moves his gaze to the reverend his cold blue eye’s looking on to him for a moment before slowly turning back to the alter again Tyler lets out a small sigh and leans back in his pew looking at the image of Christ that is on one of the tables at the altar before he speaks.
Tyler Straven: “I have the weight of thirty men’s fate on my shoulders and what’s worse is they don’t even know it”.
Reverend John: “Sound like allot of responsibility for one man to handle”.
Tyler Straven: “One that I didn’t want to take but it was forced upon me, that’s the scary thing their fate and mine are entangled together and there is no way that I can change the path that we must all take the thing the worries me is that we all seem to believe that we have the same fate we all believe that we can win not one of us willing to concede that our destiny may be not to win this Sunday but to take another path, the problem is that we are all chasing the same thing what you would call a false idol the glimmer of the World Championship or at least the right to engage in battle for it.
Reverend John: “The story is always the same a false Idol will always bring the worst out in people”.
Tyler Straven: “I am one of those people my head is filled with images of what will happen this Sunday and it’s eating me up inside the things that I will have to do to these men in order to fulfil my destiny it not how I wanted it be leave me I didn’t want to destroy and humiliate thirty men in front of millions of people but the reality is that I am the person who is destine to usher in a new era and in order to that I need to be noticed and the best way to do that is the road to the World Championship and the path starts at War, every one of those thirty men are wrong they step in that ring to be idolised by the masses of WCF fans me I do it for myself to prove to that I am the standard by witch every man walking the face of this earth should struggle to be like”.
Reverend John: “You sound like you have been suckered into the false Idol yourself”.
Tyler Straven: “You couldn’t be more wrong unlike those other pitiful excuse for human beings it not the title that I want it’s the vehicular by witch I will spread my message, that’s the difference between me and the other I am not doing this for myself I am doing this for them I can make this company into everything that Lurch dreams it to be but in order for that to happen I have to be at the top of the food chain, when I am there I can change the face of this company I can turn it into a place where sprit of competition thrives where a select group of people controlled by one egomaniacal man control everything like those TOT members do, I won’t let the power corrupt me I wont surround myself with a bunch of yes men”.
Reverend John: “Your getting ahead of yourself first you have thirty men who want to stop you”.
Tyler Straven: “Those thirty men you speak of are nothing more than objects that have been placed in front of me by fate to test me to take me to the breaking point in order to test the resolve I have to bring forth the new era of WCF because without a struggle to obtain a goal how can you appreciate obtaining it, I look forward to the battering my body will take this Sunday because I know that it will be worth every bit of pain because of the bright future that I will bask in at the end of it all”.
Tyler stands up and begins pacing back in fourth in front of the priest his emotions starting to come to the surface the anger building him once again starts to talk to the priest.
Tyler Straven: “If I fail this Sunday I will be written off as a man who promises the world and fails to deliver and I am not going to become that man I will stand tall at War and if that mean by any means necessary so be people can judge me they can jeer me but deep down inside they will respect me because no matter who you are you cannot deny a talented and a natural born leader like myself. I am what this world needs right now people are struggling houses and jobs lost lives ruined by their greed for the so call American dream what they need is something to grab onto a glimmer of hope and they will find it this Sunday in Tyler Straven, people will once again flock to arena’s smiles on their face as they watch their hero there bastion of hope, but sadly they won’t you want to know why it because they have been conditioned by the like of Logan and Jay and many others that they should be happy with the way things are in this world and we all know how much people hate change well this Sunday they will have no choice but to embraces it or end up on the fringes of society out cast in their own community as the dawn of a new chapter begins”.
Reverend John: “Why are you here?”
Tyler Straven: “I don’t know some part of me wants forgiveness for what it is I am going to do I know you can’t do that I’m fine with that sometimes men have to do things that there not proud of but have to in order to survive in this world I will go to war and do what I have to do if people condemn me for it so be it, the reality is that not every one of us can leave War with our head held high knowing that I have done everything physically possible to get across the finishing line”.
It’s then the sound of the door at the front of the church is herd creaking open and Carls steps through and starts to make his way down the aisle toward Tyler and the priest Tyler is no pacing back and fourth freshly the priest moves away for a second as Carl approaches Tyler who seem to almost be in a world of his own deep in thought Carl coughs to try and get his attention still Tyler shows no interest. Carl looks at the priest who shrugs his shoulders its then that Carl places his bandaged hand on Tyler shoulder in the blink of an eye Tyler grabs his hand and throws him to the ground and locks in the Sensationlizer , Carl screams in pain as Tyler leans right back even go as far to put his knee into the small of Carls back the priest now panics running and calling for help with the altar boy who just stands there in shock at what he is seeing as Tyler starts to talk the anger inside of him so great that he is frothing at the mouth.
Tyler Straven: “You dear touch me you vile, filthy peace of crap I told you I warned you stay by the car no you had to interrupt my confession your just like the rest of them not even worthy of breathing the same air as me”.
Straven just looks down Carl as he puts even more pressure on the move until finally Carl stops moving passed out from the pain Tyler lets him go slumping to the ground his face showing no remorse for his actions he looks over at the altar boy who has moved his mouth wide open in shock a sadistic smile creeps across Tyler face as he simply looks at the boy and says “Boo” the boy panics and turns to run falling over a chair and landing in a heap he quickly jumps to his feet and heads down the aisle crying as Tyler leans on a table his head to the ground he looks up at the image of Christ and closes his eye a moment of silence passes and he turn around again to the still lifeless body of Carl and picks him up over his shoulder and starts to make his way towards the doors.
