The mecca of sports and entertainment itself, Madison Square Garden. Host to so many legendary events in the past, so many basketball games featuring the New York Knicks among a host of other things. For some, just walking past MSG while on vacation in New York City is a dream come true. For others, though, the chance to actually enter the hallowed halls of the famed arena is more then a dream come true, its a life altering event. For professional wrestlers, this is the place they've always dreamed on being at some point in their career. Just for the single chance to go out in front of that crowd at MSG and wrestle their hearts out is enough to satisify them for the rest of their careers.
Perhaps this is why WCF chose such a place to hold the latest installment of War. This is the place for some of these newer faces in the long history of WCF to put their name in the books as the winner as the eighth installment of War. Some of the very best in WCF history have failed to win this match. Some have won it more then once. Some think that winning the War is more luck then skill, that its all about the number you get to enter the match. Entering number one and trying to find yourself at the end of the match is one of the hardest things to do. Entering dead last though is a great spot to be in but then the pressure is on them, trying to win because they're the freshest wrestler in the match.
Either way, its just an honor for a man to wrestle in such a place because it might not ever happen again. It must be taken in stride, just viewed as another arena in any ole small town where you'd find yourself wrestling in a gym in front of fifty people, not even making enough money for food or gas that night. Just need to enter that mindset and it'll all be fine. Nothing to worry about except for the sole purpose that everyone has in the War match, trying to exit the victor, become the last man standing. That's the dream that every single person in this contest has, even the old dog himself Logan who has found himself on the right end of this match numerous times during his legendary WCF career.
Maybe it'll be someone who is still fresher to WCF like a Doc Henry or Johnny Reb. Either way, a career will be punched towards a World Title shot at the end of the night. Someone will find themselves so elated that they'll probably go on an all night drinking binge and forget they actually won this match. No matter though, this is the night is the proving ground. Time to make it happen.
The busy streets of New York City. So many people are walking around on a Saturday afternoon, trying to get where they need to go. In the middle of all these people happens to be the newly engaged couple of Craig Jacobs and Alexis Wilson. They look happy taking in the sights of such a large city. A smile is on Alexis' face, enjoying everything that she sees. So many clothes stores, Alexis would be in heaven if Craig only allowed her to go in and buy.everything she wanted. But then they'd be broke with no way of getting back home.
For this reason and perhaps this reason only, Craig starts to grin like a madman before turning his attention to his bride to be at some point. Alexis turns to bump into his chin, holding her forehead before laughing at her own stupidity. Craig leans down and gives her a kiss on the forehead, trying to make her feel better before they start to look for something to eat. Nothing really in sight yet as Alexis groans.
Alexis Wilson: If there is one thing I hate about this place is the lack of easy access food. It seems like we need to walk for hours just to find anything that isn't fancy stuff that rich people eat. You know I couldn't eat that stuff!
Craig nods his head before he points to a sign that makes both of them light up. Seems they've come across a fast food place. Might not be the greatest thing to eat the day before he wrestles but it'll make her happy and right now, that's probably his only concern.
Alexis Wilson: Saved by Wendy's once again. I don't know how many times we've come across a place like this in our time of need. My stomach is growling and it craves a double cheeseburger!
That makes Craig crack a small laugh before wrapping his arms around his love. They enter the Wendy's and luckly there isn't a line in front of them. Alexis orders first, naturally.
Alexis Wilson: Double cheeseburger meal. Diet Coke.
The worker punches all of it in before Craig takes his turn to order.
Craig Jacobs: I'll have the same but biggie size mine. Thanks.
That gets entered into the machine before the price rings up. Craig pays for it before standing up at the counter, waiting for their food. Alexis goes and finds a spot for them to sit at. The food eventually is all placed on the tray as Craig goes to where she's picked their spot. Alexis looks thrilled as she grabs her sandwich and fries.
Alexis Wilson: This looks so damn good!
Craig Jacobs: Its only a cheeseburger. You must be hungry.
Alexis Wilson: I sure am...
She takes a bite with a smile on her face, Craig slowly beginning to eat his.
Alexis Wilson: So are you looking forward to tomorrow night anyways?
Craig Jacobs: Yeah, its a chance to wrestle in Madison Square Garden. Thats one of the big dreams of every single wrestler at any time in their career, to go to a place like that. I'm really looking forward to wrestling in a place like this.
Alexis Wilson: I still think you can win.
Craig Jacobs: Then you'd be the only one. This isn't about winning for me, its just about showing what I can do. I'm just trying to be as realistic as I possibly can. I'm just a fresh faced rookie here so how can I manage to win such a match like this? The fans would be all over me if I failed to win the World Title the pay per view after this one saying I was nothing more then a flash in a pan, a fluke. I don't want that label. I want my climb in WCF to be the right way, not an overnight success story. Just isn't right to bypass the years of hard work and tradition.
Alexis shakes her head, disagreeing with her lover.
Alexis Wilson: But you put in the years of hard work and tradition to get to this point. If people had followed the Iowa indy scene, they'd know you're probably one of the top three pro wrestlers in the damn state! Other big time promotions don't even sign top fifty and they end up flaming out before two weeks pass by. You're the real deal Craig and I won't let you think in this sort of manner. You have the talent and the desire to become a top level guy!
Craig Jacobs: The people here in WCF don't know about my work in Iowa though. They don't know about my history in the ring because I live in such a low status state. It doesn't work in my favor!
Alexis Wilson: That's bullshit and you know it! You're going to win this War match, I know you are because even though you talk all this stuff about wanting to take the slow climb up the ladder I can just look into your eyes and see how much you want this. I want this for us too. This is a chance to get an even better life for us, for your parents who need you know after the years of you needing them. The real Craig Jacobs would never be a little whimp like this...
She takes a sip of her drink before glaring at him. He looks away, trying not to say anything more.
Alexis Wilson: Don't you dare act like this either! Its all about your eyes and I know you want this more then anything else in the world right now. You want the fame, you want the status after spending years pissing away in the horrible Iowa wrestling scene. This is your first big chance and you need to take it! If not for you or me, then think about...
Alexis cuts herself off before taking another bite. Craig turns his gaze back to her, a little curious as to why she stopped talking all of a sudden.
Craig Jacobs: Think about what?
Alexis Wilson: Just forget it. Go ahead and be a little piss ant.
Craig Jacobs: Don't be like this. You know that either way, I'm trying my best tomorrow night. Win or lose, I'm still going to be wrestling and my stock will have improved.
Alexis nods her head before reaching into her purse and giving him a photo. Craig looks at it, a little confused before it dawns on him. He stands up and walks away from the table, leaving Alexis alone with her thoughts...
On Sunday night, my history, my legacy begins in the historic arena. Not just for myself either. My legacy starts for my parents, my future wife and my child. Wrestling Championship Federation, War VIII is my start on pay per view. So until then, tomorrow night, I'm going to enjoy my time in the Big Apple, spending time with my love. But once my music hits in that match, everything that surrounds my life is forgotten and the only thing that matters is War.
