A familiar voice can be heard as the scene opens with a tight shot of a shadowed face of the current WCF United States Champion, Slickie T. The light is dim and the location is unknown but as he speaks, his voice almost echoes as if he is in a concrete room or in tight confines. His face is one of confidence, yet a hint of doubt can be heard in his voice as he speaks.
Bob Dylan once sang a single line that described an entire era when he simply stated “the times, they are a changin’.” Well, after some thought and some looking back on the last few weeks here in the WCF, it seems the times are changing. The entire federation is becoming more intense and wrestlers are becoming more involved in what is going on. They have been forced to spend a few extra hours in the gym, to watch a few more matches of their opponent, to perfect a few more moves to end up even holding their position within the federation. As I made my way into this federation, an era ended when Logan and Jack of Blades decided to hang up their boots and call it quits here in the WCF, allowing new faces to pave a new path for the direction of the federation. Gravedigger and Mad Dogg returned to the ring to prove that they still belong and to show that they their presence in the ring and their intimidation still lives on. My opponent for this week and in weeks past, Mikami, found out who his mysterious man was and was able to get himself back on task and discover what it was that led him to success before his championship gold was taken from him. A pair of XGWO Hall of Famers made some noise at the same event, Blast, and emerged as new champions in the WCF, ending the longtime reigns of their previous holders. Two men who simply copy the gimmicks of others came strolling into the federation, where handed Tag Team Titles and suddenly the creation of a Tag Time Championship was formed and a select set of teams have their eyes on the prize, ready to claim those tag titles as their own and start their own brand of dynasty in the Tag Team ranks. There is a Pay-Per-View card that doesn’t have the name “Torture” scribbled in as someone who is competing for the World Championship. A new Television Championship will be created in just a few weeks and yet another trophy will be sought after in the lower ranks of the WCF, a newly created title that will breed a tournament like no other when superstars give it their all to try and become the FIRST WCF Television Champion in the new era. Twenty-two wrestlers are scheduled in eight different matches in one single event, TWENTY-TWO! A number that was unthinkable just a few short months ago. The roster is expanding; the competition is getting more and more brutal, the titles becoming more and more prestigious, and the crowds growing more numerous with each passing event. Surely the changes will continue after Ultimate Showdown as new storylines become created for the ones that draw to a close, new wrestlers emerge as forces to be reckoned with, and each two men, Johnny Reb and Dake Ken fight to see who has the honor of taking the World Championship belt into WCF Championship Series. New names are becoming more and more familiar amongst the loyal WCF fans, new merchandise is adorning the arenas, and new twists and turns, like the return of Rick Mad to the ring after becoming EWE Champion this past week are keeping them glued to the edge of their seats. Is there a better time to be a superstar in the WCF than right now? I don’t think so.
The camera begins to pan away from Guiliano, revealing his location to be the newly erected black steel ring steps that will serve as an entrance to the squared circle at Ultimate Showdown. The arena is completely empty except for the equipment that is essential to the running of an event like the one that will take place on Sunday night. The reigning United States title holder comes to his feet and stands on the second step, gazing into the ring, only this time instead of his regular suit and tie, the normal wardrobe for out of ring appearances, Guiliano is outfitted in his white tights that are trimmed and ornamented with the red, white, and green of his home country. His black wrestler boots with the white laces can be heard on the steel steps as he begins to make his way up them, between the ropes, and into the empty ring, gazing down at the logo that has been emblazoned on the canvas for Ultimate Showdown. Guiliano takes a long look out over the empty arena and his familiar smirk now appears as the end of his lips curl and he begins to speak once more.
However…The more things change, the more things stay the same. The same rules still apply to the matches, the same dimensions still exist for the squared circle that all competitors will enter on Sunday night, and the count of three is still the ultimate goal. Once again I am forced to defend my title against the very man whom I took it from and for the second week in a row, I will be in the ring with the two other individuals who will also look to be taking it from me. The changing of the guard for the United States Championship here in the WCF ends this Sunday in this very spot. Three men will walk into the ring at Ultimate Showdown hoping to leave it with a little more than they came in with, while one more hopes to simply break even. Now, as you know, I’m not in the business of breaking even. There is one thing that will stay the same after Sunday night and that is the name that is printed on the plate for the United States Championship belt. No need to worry about any changes in the fourth match of the evening. However, how I retain the belt could be something to witness. It will be the first time I have had to worry about losing my title without getting pinned and the first time that everyone involved in the match is after me, well, not really me, the belt that I wear over my shoulder. But as in past federations, I have defeated multiple opponents to retain a title and since this is the part where we are talking about what won’t change, expect it to happen again. Another thing that won’t change is how the entrances are done for this match, so let’s break down each opponent in the order that will come to the ring and the corners that they will be placed in before the opening bell.
Guiliano makes his way to the center of the ring, faces the entrance ramp and lays the United States Title belt down at his feet before pointing to the corner that behind him and to his right.
That corner over there will be host to D-Day, the first man that will walk down that ramp. D-Day, I’m not quite sure where to begin with you. This will be the second time we have been in the same ring together, but the first time that we have been real opponents, although last week you almost quickly become one after your phantom tag from behind that cost us the match. Seems as if you have proved you belong here in the WCF, becoming a familiar name and frequent victor in matches over Chris Avery, but this is a bit of a step up for you my friend. You better get those dreams figured out real quick before you walk down that ramp on Sunday or you just might find yourself in a dream that you won’t wake up from for awhile if guys like Daniels, Mikami, and I get our hands on you. This time there will be no referee to force me out of the ring and keep me away from the action. This time there is no team between us. This time..the Italian wins the war.
As he finishes his sentences, he spins around and points to the corner that was once behind him and to his left.
And in this corner, we will have Ryan Daniels. The same Ryan Daniels who is trying to prove everyone wrong and show that he still has what it takes to come away with victories here in the WCF. Well, guess what Ryan, you have are going to have to deal with those same “shit-eating grins” for at least one more week. Now, I’m not going to make a cheap comment on your Kid Hollywood moniker or even talk about recent losing streak as of late. I’m just simply going to clear some things up for you that seemed to be on your mind last week. You come out there and stand in front of a WCF banner, confident smirk on your face, and have the audacity to call me arrogant? Come on Ryan, you can talk all you want about how you don’t enjoy my ego or about how don’t look at you as a formidable opponent or even about how you think Ultimate Showdown will be a different story. Well, let me clear something up for you real fast Daniels, I wasn’t the sitting duck on Monday, I wasn’t the suffering on Monday, and I believe it will be you with the paranoid look in your face this week at Ultimate Showdown. You see, there are three guys walking into the ring on Sunday that not only want to win the match, but don’t want to see you win, and to top it all off, I don’t think any of them have an ounce of respect for you. I think you have made yourself very clear on what you think of the three of us in your little rant last week and even though Mikami and myself have had our battles are will continue to have our numerous battles over this United States Title belt, there is something we have for each other that we don’t have for you and that’s respect. Sure, I want to beat Mikami as much as you do, but I respect what he has done here in the WCF and I respect his title as “former United States Champion” and he respects me for giving him a reason to go back after it once again, but that respect doesn’t exist with you Daniels. This Sunday your fall from grace will be complete. You will ALMOST have won the World Title one week and just two weeks later will ALMOST, well, won’t even come close to winning the United States Title. The script has already been writ….the outcome has become very clear on how the night will end for Ryan Daniels and that’s with yet another defeat.
This time Guiliano faces the ramp once again and points to the third corner, the one to the right of and closest to the entrance ramp.
And in that corner there will stand my opponent for the fifth week in a row, the other foreigner that is after this United States Championship, none other than Mr. Mikami. Not once, not twice, not three times, not even four times, but five times in a row, we will square off as opponents, but something about this match up makes it seem like the result might stick. I became the champion at the last pay-per-view, you had your chance to take it away from me on Slam, it ended in a count one, a result that neither of us wanted, and finally this time we have some resolution. As I stated before, I don’t like you, I don’t agree with your tactics or your motivation for winning this title, but I respect what you have done, and it would be a shame if it wasn’t Slickie T or Mikami who walked out of Ultimate Showdown with this United States Title belt over their shoulder. A line has been drawn in the sand between us and unfortunately two others have been thrown into the mix just to stir things up a bit, however, it only takes one false move, one undesirable circumstance for one of them to walk away with what should be rightfully ours. It seems to me that Ultimate Showdown could have been reserved for the ultimate match between you and I, one with just the two of us, no disqualifications, and no countouts, but regardless of who steps into the ring with us, I guarantee it will be one hell of a match when the bell rings and Mikami and Slickie T go at it one more time. I hope you bring the same fire, the same passion, the same determination for winning this belt back as you did in our matchup two weeks ago on Slam were the stakes were raised and the match was one that we will both remember if not only because of the unfortunate way that it ended, but because of the spectacular maneuvers that were put together at a simple weekly show. Imagine what will be brought out of the bag at an event such as Ultimate Showdown. I’m glad that Rick Mad has already been scheduled in a match before ours, I already had three guys to worry about and didn’t want a fourth, but then again, I hope that after Torture and Rick go toe to toe that you don’t become distracted from the title once again if he should happened to suffer any injuries. Also, I enjoyed your comedy show that you revealed, it’s a shame you destroyed the tape, I could’ve used you at my casino in Vegas as an opening act…
As Guiliano ponders the thought of the statement he just made, he quickly snaps back into reality and glances at the remaining corner, slowly starting to walk towards it, stretching out his arms and grabbing the top rope on either side of the turnbuckle and pulling himself up onto the top rung, glancing out over the empty arena once again. As he takes it all in, imagining the crowd that will be present for one of the most spectacular events in recent WCF history, he steps back off the turnbuckle and directs is attention toward the camera once again, doing his best Jimmy Lennon Jr. impression.
And in this corner, weighing in at 215 pounds, all the way from the shores of Sicily, Italy, he is the REIGNING WCF United States Champion of the wooooooooorld…..SLICKIE T!
Guiliano smiles as he returns to his normal voice, admiring his impression of one of the world’s greatest and most recognizable announcers in Lennon Jr. As he makes his way back to the center of the ring to retrieve his title belt, he stops for a moment before tossing the belt back over his shoulder and peers into the camera once again.
Oh, and for those Superfans that must have been so proud of their victory last week over the team that I happened to be on, I was hoping that last week would be the first and last time that we would have to deal with each other, but your recent comments about how you “proved” that Dake Ken and I were incorrect when called you out for having your titles handed to you got me thinking. If you two REALLY want to prove that you should be champions, then I propose that you should have to beat the champions. That’s right, I think that the Superfans should take on the team of Dake Ken and Slickie T, two XGWO Hall of Famers, to see if the word “champion” is really deserving. If the two of you win, fine, you will have my respect, the tag titles will be legitimate in my eyes and there will be no more mention of it, BUT, if Dake and I emerge victories, we become Tag Team Champions, vacate the belts, and then have a tournament to find out who the real Tag Team Champions are. Any team that wants to compete will have their chance and Dake and I get to determine the stipulations of each match. OR we could just throw all the tag teams into once match with stipulations chosen by Dake and myself and see who emerges victories. Not sure who I have to go through to get this done, but if you guys are up for it, I know that there is no one else in this federation that would like to call me a partner than my former XGWO running mate Dake Ken. Just a little something for Seth to think about after Ultimate Showdown. Forza Italia….Mi amore.
The scene fades to black as Guiliano slips between the ropes and makes his way down the very steps that sat on to start the scene. As he makes his way up the entrance ramp and through the curtains, the WCF crew begins to test his music and video and the scene ends with the familiar sound of “Gravesend (Lake of Fire” by the Lordz of Brooklyn.
