As WCF returns to broadcast from commercial, the camera pans across the fans filling the arena. The WCF theme, “Kids” by MGMT, plays over the PA system as announcer Zach Davis begins to speak from the desk.
Zach Davis: Welcome back to WCF: Slam! Tonight’s episode is brought to you by…
The camera cuts to a one-shot of the WCF ring. A Brawndo: The Thirst Mutilator logo graphic drops down from the top of the screen and holds halfway.
Brawndo, the Thirst Mutilator! It’s got what plants crave!
The other announcer for Slam, Shannen Lerch, chimes in for advertising as the Brawndo logo disappears and a Nintendo Wii logo appears.
Shannen Lerch: By the Nintendo Wii! Wii would like to play!
The Wii logo falls off the screen and is replaced by a cover of Maxim magazine featuring Moon Bloodgood.
Zach Davis: And by Maxim Magazine! Check out Moon Bloodgood from Terminator: Salvation on this month’s cover!
The Slam theme fades out with the Maxim cover graphic as the camera pans from the ring to the crowd and from the crowd to the stage, as the lights there slowly flicker white and grey with the bass intro to Muse’s “Hysteria”. The arena goes dark as the drum intro begins and the white and grey dots get interspersed with blue and yellow in tune with the beat.
It looks like the newly crowned WCF Tag Team Champions are about to address their debut match on tonight’s program! Here come the Superfans!
The drum intro ends as the opening riff to “Hysteria” begins. The stage turns yellow and blue as the Superfans step out of the Gorilla area and into the spotlight. The strobes continue to flash blue, yellow and white as Mark and Marc stand in awe of their entrance and the screaming fans. Flash bulbs burst as the Superfans high-five and Tiffany Jane walks between them, WCF Tag Team Titles in tow. She kisses both of her boys on the cheek, then hands them their Titles. The Superfans sling the titles over their shoulders and just take in the moment: this is their debut--their rebirth, their second chance--in WCF. The announce team shouts over the music and the cheering fans.
Shannen Lerch: Listen to the reception for the Superfans! The men who made tag team wrestling a possibility again in WCF have made quite an entrance here tonight!
Zach Davis: The fans love them because they’re fans as well, Shannen! They made their debut coming out here dressed as the Hart Foundation and were awarded the reinstated WCF Tag Team Championships last week on Slam! They’ve made it known that they’re willing to take on any challenger, fan or foe, in defense of those title belts!
The Superfans smile at each other, then at Tiffany Jane as they continue down the ramp. Marc jumps to the apron as Mark takes the ring steps. They lift Tiffany Jane to the apron and hold the ropes open for her. She chuckles at them, motions for them to get up from the ropes and wraps her arms around the top rope as she faces the stage. Tiffany does a back flip over the top rope, kicking her legs out in a scissor in the air and lands on the other side of the ropes. Mark and Marc stare at each other as she motions with her right pointer finger for them to get in the ring, while playing with her hair in her left hand.
Shannen Lerch: I think WCF just got a new infusion of sex appeal, Zach!
Marc jumps over the top rope and Mark slides through the top and middle rope as they enter the ring and the flashbulbs burst even faster. The lights in the ring speckle the three with yellow, blue and white. Mark stands in the middle of the ring, dressed in a yellow tie with a white shirt, a blue suit coat, jeans and black dress shoes. Marc, in the new Superfans tee, pinstripe carpenter’s pants and Chucks, gets up on the second turnbuckle to hold his championship belt up high for the fans to see. Tiffany claps as Mark goes to the other turnbuckle to do the same. The warm reception does not stop as the music keeps playing.
Zach Davis: The reception is beyond description here tonight for the Superfans! This is a dream come true for them, the fans of WCF and the independent wrestling world! These guys are a treasure! They work for the fans!
Shannen Lerch: The cheering still hasn’t stopped! It’s gone on for a solid four minutes! They may have set a record for not only the biggest pop, but the longest pop in WCF history!
The Superfans get down from the turnbuckles and sling their titles over their shoulders as the music finally dies down and the lights go back to normal. Still, the cheering continues. Mark and Marc are beside themselves, smiling and looking around them at their adoring fans. Tiffany Jane hands Mark a microphone.
Mark: Wow.
The fans continue to applaud and cheer, Su!-per!-fans! Su!-per!-fans! Marc still can’t believe it.
Just wow. Thank you. Thank you all.
The crowd pops again but is waved off by Mark, who clearly has something on his mind.
Thank you, really. That reception couldn’t have been any warmer if I wanted it to be. But my brother and I have some things we need to say to you, WCF, that place we worked for before we came here and whoever wants a shot at the WCF Tag Team Champions.
The crowd pops once more.
Shannen Lerch: I’m beside myself! These guys are over and they haven’t even had their in-ring debut!
Mark: You may notice that we didn’t come out here dressed as a famous tag team tonight. We want people to know that we’re not just fans of the business and of the larger-than-life personas that we grew up loving. We’re more than just a gimmicky, shticky duo that comes out here, dressed in scarily accurate costumes to do the spots that those teams did, say their catchphrases and ride their coattails. No, we are not.
Mark looks into the camera, as if to address the entire populace of WCF.
We’re gamers. We’re real wrestlers too.
Mark looks to Marc and hands him the microphone. The crowd pops for the babyfaced Marc, the younger of the two Superfans.
Marc: Tonight marks the beginning of something wonderful here in WCF. Tonight we’re here to usher in a new dawn for tag team wrestling, not for the business, but for the fans!
Another pop from the crowd. Marc adjusts and looks at his WCF Tag Team Title belt.
Zach Davis: Yes! Hell yes! I can’t wait!
Marc: These Tag Team Titles were bestowed on us as a key to open the possibilities of this part of the sport. We know that and we’re out here to let everyone else know that they aren’t leaving our shoulders anytime soon.
Tiffany claps as the rest of the crowd continues to cheer.
Getting down to business, our in-ring debut this week is against not one, but two tag teams. Two! And calling them teams seems to be a bit of a stretch: they’ve never teamed together before, they’ve never even liked each other and they’ll probably never team together again.
Marc hands the mic back to Mark, who clears his throat.
Mark: The WCF has decided to test us by putting our backs to the wall out of the gate and we’re alright with that. If that’s what it’s going to take to put this company and this division on the map, then so be it. We’re going to work our asses off in this company to give the fans what they want, to take what we want and leave everybody wanting more: more tag teams, more title shots and more Tiffany Jane!
The crowd pops and begins to chant: She! Is! Hot! She! Is! Hot! She! Is! Hot!
Zach Davis: No argument from me, Shannen.
Shannen Lerch: I’m not surprised, Zach.
Tiffany Jane takes the microphone from Mark and tries to get some words in over the chant.
Tiffany Jane: When I found these two in New Championship Wrestling, all I could see was potential. All New Championship Wrestling could see were two curtain jerkers to feed to politics and terrible ownership. I contacted the brass here at World Championship Federation and got what I knew all along signed on paper: the Superfans are championship material and are destined for greatness. I love them as much as you love them and I am forever thankful for that.
The crowd cheers for Tiffany’s sentimentality.
We’re on a mission in WCF, as Mark said. We’re leaving no stone unturned, no challenger refused and no set of eyes absolutely stunned at what the three of us are capable of. We’re the total package…
Tiffany points to Marc, who smiles a mile wide and pats his belt.
Of speed…
Tiffany points to Mark. Mark holds his title belt high for the fans.
Of skill…
Tiffany runs her hand up and down the side of her body. Mark and Marc stand there and try not to drool.
And of beauty.
Tiffany looks at her boys and gives them a cute but expectant wink. They snap out of it and Mark takes the microphone.
Mark: And that’s just the beginning. In our debut match, we’re facing off with two teams. The first team, a combination of Slickie T…
The crowd gives a mixed reaction to the name, with sixty percent cheers and forty percent boos.
And the man who is known as D-Day.
The crowd boos heavily.
And I have to agree with everyone! In what possible ways could Slickie-T, the reigning United States Champion, and D-Day, one of three challengers to that title, coexist?
Mark offers the microphone to Marc, who gladly accepts it. Marc adjusts his title, and puts it over his other shoulder.
Marc: I don’t think they can, Mark. The odds don’t favor them. Even if Slickie-T were to buy out the referee with his dirty mafia money, I still think D-Day would prefer to lose the match. Why? Because he wants the champion hurt, bruised, bloodied, and probably injured.
The crowd shows their disapproval of Slickie-T with an roaring boo.
Having an advantage over your future opponent is a good thing, to be sure; however, Slickie-T is probably looking for the same thing. He’s probably expecting us to be the good guys and save his butt if he’s about to take the loss. And we just might.
The crowd cheers.
But that’s not because we like him. We will save his ass because we want to show you, the fans, that we are the best! In our first match, it would be damn near robbery to us, Tiffany Jane and to the fans to not win the match!
The crowd explodes again at being mentioned. Marc gives the microphone back to Mark, who smiles.
Mark: And then there’s the other team we have to deal with. The combination of Ryan “Ex-Kid Hollywood” Daniels…
The crowd reverts back to booing at the mention of Ryan Daniels.
And his partner, “Rhymes With Oragami” Mikami!
The crowd continues to boo, but grows to laughter at the insult.
As if the former Kid Hollywood was enough to make us vomit, we’re also told he’s teaming with Masked Vanilla himself, Mikami. Mikami, Ryan Daniels, D-Day, and Slickie-T.
The crowd’s boos grow louder.
And then there’s us, The Superfans!
The crowd explodes!
But then there are our opponents.
The crowd boos heavily.
But don’t forget Tiffany Jane!
The crowd explodes again! Marc, Mark, and Tiffany Jane all smile wide and wave to the fans again. Marc and Mark raise their tag titles high in the air while Tiffany Jane poses for the crowd. Marc takes the microphone from Mark.
Zach Davis: Listen to this crowd react to the Superfans, Shannen! The people are eating out of the palms of their hands! This is the infusion of new life this company--this business!--needs!
Marc: But really, at Slam, I want everyone in this audience to watch. There will be highs and there will be lows. There will be moonsaults, but hopefully no low blows. Mikami, the Masked Vanilla Wafer, crusader against evil, will realize that the only evil he needs to defeat is himself. Ryan Daniels might want to go back to Hollywood, so he can learn how to act after this loss. I mean, after all, if there’s one tough act to follow, it’s the Superfans!
Mark takes the microphone from Marc.
Mark: Hey, I have an idea. But, you guys, the fans, you gotta help us out. Who do you guys want to see us parody?
Mark and Marc hit a familiar pose, the same pose that The Impact Players, Justin Credible and Lance Storm used to do.
Do you want to see us parody the Impact Players?
The crowd roars, remembering their favorite wrestlers with the Superfans.
Or how about…
Marc and Mark hit a different pose. The Superfans stand apart from each other, and raise their arms.
D-Generation X!?
Mark and Marc do four crotch chops to thunderous pyrotechnics as the crowd explodes. Marc and Mark swap the microphone yet again, and now Marc has the microphone.
Marc: I know who these fans DON’T want to see, Mark. They don’t want to see us mimic either of these two teams in our debut match! The utterly boring tag teams of Mikami and Ryan Daniels, and D-Day and Slickie-T!
The crowd pops loudly yet again. The crowd begins to chant: Those! Teams! Suck! Su!-per!-fans! Those! Teams! Suck! Su!-per!-fans! Tiffany Jane takes the microphone as the Superfans point out into the crowd and pump up the noise. The fans go wild as Tiffany puts the microphone up to her lips.
Tiffany Jane: The Superfans and myself are here to stay in WCF. Mikami, Slickie-T, D-Day and Ryan Daniels, as well as anyone who wants a shot at my boys’ Tag Team Championships, you’ve all just been put on notice. We’re going to show you how it’s done: with great wrestling, better showmanship and the natural abilities to back it all up.
Tiffany hands the microphone to Mark.
Mark: This isn’t NCW, where the performers run the show and the talented guys get held down. This is WCF, where the talented guys get chances and the fans get what they want!
The crowd pops again as Mark, Marc and Tiffany look into the camera, all smiles. The Superfans leave the ring and hop into the crowd as their entrance theme plays. Mark and Marc go to opposite sides of the ring and start high-fiveing people in the crowd.
Shannen Lerch: The Superfans are a team for the fans, by the fans! Look at them be embraced by their own!
Zach Davis: They can be fun and they can be deadly serious as they just were, Shannen! I am anxiously awaiting their in-ring debut! They talk the talk, but can they walk the walk!?
Shannen Lerch: If they have the revitalized WCF Tag Team Championships around their waist, I’m sure we won’t be disappointed!
The fans continue to shake hands and take pictures with the Monsters of the Mid-card as Tiffany Jane stands in the ring and applauds, keeping the noise going.
Fade to black.
