The sound of giddy laughter fills the hallways as WCF returns from commercial. The camera pans around and zooms in on a plaque that reads “The Superfans” in gold yellow embossed on metallic blue. The camera follows the noise through the door, as it opens to reveal the newly crowned WCF Tag Team Champions guffawing about New Championship Wrestling, the promotion they were acquired from. On the dartboard is a black t-shirt with the NCW logo on it. The Superfans pick up some darts, calm themselves and take aim at the shirt. Mark takes his first toss, hitting the N right at the top.
Mark: New, for “New” Championship Wrestling. What kind of a name is that? It’d sound better if it were something like “Nashville” or “New Mexico” or even “Nassau.”
Marc laughs.
Marc: Nassau Championship Wrestling… didn’t we turn them down?
Mark: Yeah probably. You’re up, bro.
Marc takes his first toss, hitting the W right in the middle.
Marc: Wrestling, for New Championship “Wrestling.” The only people over there that actually wanted to wrestle were Mark and me. And even then, we were held down by the two guys who were the creative heads of the tag division. That’s no way to run a successful company, that’s for sure.
Mark snickers and takes his second toss. It misses just below the C. Mark grunts and Marc takes his second toss. Marc misses the C just above. Marc then grunts and both take their final toss, nailing the C dead center at the same time. Mark and Marc high five one another.
Mark: Championship, for New “Championship” Wrestling. Championships? New Championship Wrestling didn’t know a thing about those. Not once did I ever see the tag champions in action and, from what I understand, their world champion had creative control.
Marc: And no one likes it when someone politics their way into getting a world title now do they, Gravedigger?
Marc and Mark smile at each other and turn away from the shirt on the wall.
Mark: WCF, allow us to properly introduce ourselves: We are the Superfans and we are the greatest tag team this side of The Impact Players. We take on all challengers, anytime and anywhere. My name is Mark. That’s with a K for everyone playing at home.
Marc: And I’m Marc, with a C. We‘re here to engender competition but that doesn‘t mean we‘re going to take it lightly. I mean, we are the tag team champions.
Mark: Our biggest concerns are two things: keeping those tag titles that we have and proving to everyone that we are the best tag team in the world. Now, in the past, there have been some problems with the bookers.
Marc: See, the booker in the last place decided to---
Mark covers Marc’s mouth with his hands, muffling his words.
Mark: But they never won cleanly, that’s for damn sure.
Mark releases Marc, so Marc can speak freely.
Marc: But that’s the past. This is a new place, a new time, a new era for the Superfans.
Mark: An era that is only just beginning. This is the era that truly begins the tag team division of WCF--that marks it, if you will.
Marc and Mark look at each other and smile.
Marc: Just look at this place since we’ve shown up. New tag teams have been introduced through the memos and that means something. That means that tag team wrestling is not dead, which means this is more than just a fleeting idea. This is massive, this is fantastic.
Mark: It’s super. And think about this: before The Superfans came onto the scene, how many tag teams were in WCF? If you can call the union between Gravedigger and Chester a “tag team” then one, but from what we saw last week he’s only worried about himself.
Marc: Very true. But, even with these new tag teams coming into WCF, we still have to do something about the two tag teams we’ll be facing in our first match. And those teams are…
Mark: Slickie-T and D-Day, and Mikami and Ryan Daniels.
Marc: Is that their team names, or are they just four people meshed up into two teams?
Mark: They’re mesh-ups, man, created tag teams for our in-ring debut. Neither team is looking for tag team gold.
Marc: Well, that doesn’t bode well for them. I really hate it when two guys with differing views are forced to team up, Mark.
Mark: Me too. It always feels like someone just wants to beat the hell out of the other.
Marc: Mark, these guys are all fighting over gold at the upcoming pay-per-view, Ultimate Showdown, so they do want to beat the hell out of each other.
Mark: And while they’re beating the hell out of each other, we’ll be waiting for our moment to strike. Our moment will be when we will truly show that we are the best tag team in WCF, the cornerstone of the tag team division and we deserve these tag team championships.
Marc looks around. Marc then gets a worried look on his face.
Marc: Hey, Mark…
Mark: What’s up, bro?
Marc: Mark, where’d our tag titles go? They were right here!
Mark and Mark look around and fail to find their WCF Tag Team Titles.
Mark: Do you think someone stole them?
Marc: Maybe it was the mafia guy we’re facing, Slickie-T. You know, I never understood how a mafia guy could be a good guy. They all hate cops, deal drugs and kill people to make a living. Does that sound like a good guy?
Mark: It could have been the epitome of angry, D-Day. He might be trying to warn us of the “next” D-Day, when he gets in the ring with us and fails to do anything. I wonder if that D in his name stands for “disappointment.”
Marc: What if it was “The master of War” Mikami? You know, the guy who’s trying to purify the fed by getting rid of the evil. But he’s using evil to beat evil, which doesn’t make sense to me.
Mark: Well, as long as it wasn’t the playboy kid, Ryan Daniels. The guy who symbolizes what it means to go from “having everything” to “having nothing.” He doesn’t even have his head on his shoulders anymore. The guy has, quite literally, lost himself in the mix. He needs to get his head back in the right place before he can accomplish anything, let alone a win over the reigning tag team champions.
Tiffany Jane: I love it when you boys get serious.
Mark and Marc hear a light laugh come from behind them. The camera pans behind the Superfans and Tiffany Jane is wearing nothing but the WCF Tag Team Championships. She approaches the Superfans and puts one arm around each of them. Mark and Marc are both wide eyed and open mouthed, staring.
Tiffany Jane: Exodus, eat your heart out.
Tiffany gives her boys each a kiss on the cheek as they try to keep their jaws from hitting the floor.
Fade to black.
