Now you're looking for the secret. But you won’t find it because of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to work it out. You want to be fooled.
Mikami: Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned.
Mikami is kneeling in a church confessional, but there doesn't appear to be anyone on the other side. Also, the door is open, apparently to allow the camera to see in.
The sins of fear, and doubt. Most people would consider those normal emotions. For me, in this profession, and having the goals I have...when you intend to change the world, no matter the cost, then those sins might as well be murder.
He bows his head and clasps his hands together.
The deadly sin of Wrath, against myself. Not realizing that we all make mistakes. Pride. Thinking that I was above those mistakes. As long as we try our hardest to correct them, they will be forgiven. Rick Mad has shown me that.
He looks up and smiles.
Rick Mad. I had no idea. I guess I just never really thought about it. It had to be him, really. I always knew that he was an old veteran, someone who never quite accomplished all that he wanted to. It was evident in every lesson I was taught. He did not want me to repeat the same mistakes. It is strange, though. I figured he had been in Japan all that time, but he was here, too. He attacked Corey Black and Torture, and I still do not know why they are our archenemies. Why did he deceive me? But I have faith that I will find out when it is all over. It is not my place to question. I just wish he would take over this company himself, so I would not have to deal with that snake Lerch anymore.
He sneers.
Lerch, who did not lift a finger to try and protect me like he said he would. It is better that he did not, but still, we had a deal. Lerch, who put me in another insipid tag team match, teaming me with an unrepentant sinner in Johnny Reb. But then again, that describes just about everyone here. I seem to be the last of the "boy scouts".
He chuckles, taking pride in referring to himself by a term that would have been used to taunt him if he had grown up in America.
Lerch, pitting me against our new World Champion, who cannot be bothered to remember my name. And he wants to lecture us about focus?! Ha! And last but not least, teasing me by putting Allen Guliani...I mean, Guiliano...in this match too. A rematch, but not quite. Not letting me get my hands on him, one on one.
He tenses up, but then relaxes and sighs.
But no, I must not think about revenge. On to bigger and better things. Many people wish for direct and obvious interference by a higher power, but look at how much humanity has accomplished without it! All our triumphs would mean nothing had we not achieved them ourselves. So it is with Rick Mad and myself. But at least now that he is here, I will be able to get assignments directly from him. This will allow me to be a better disciple than ever before. His will be done. Amen.
Mikami crosses himself, stands, exits the confessional and closes the door. Just as he walks away, a priest starts to enter the other side, looking quizzically at Mikami before he does so. The camera turns to see Mikami opening the large church doors, letting in the light of a setting sun, then walking down the front stairs out of view.
