Every great trick requires sacrifice.[/b]
The camera comes into focus on a large anthill. Tiny workers scurry around carrying food and generally behaving as ants do. Suddenly, a sneaker comes into the scene and kicks dirt everywhere. Panicking ants scatter. The camera pans up to show Mikami in a long-sleeved white T-shirt and jeans, grimacing.
Mikami: Obviously, I do not go in for all that nonsense about how everything has a spirit inside of it that needs to be respected. I am not a big fan of nature. But I am out here to prove a point. These ants will rebuild. But it is all for naught. I can just kick it right over again. You see, the ants are Ryan Daniels.
He folds his arms.
Just like these ants, he continues to try and rise up, seemingly oblivious as to how futile it all is. Time and time again, he has been defeated. But he keeps coming back, like some dumb animal. Of course, we are all animals, but the difference between him and I is, I know how to harness that animal instinct. When I become a beast in the ring, it is controlled and with a goal in mind. Ryan Daniels has no such control. He just acts.
He kicks at the ants again.
Not only has he been beaten by me, but twice he has lost recently in tag team matches. I say that he has lost, rather than we have lost, because he is the one that was pinned. And both times it was his own fault, for acting rashly and tagging himself in. I could not have helped him if I wanted to.
Kick kick.
Everything in the universe happens in streaks. Winning streaks...and losing streaks. We are going in opposite directions. I am going up, he is going down. As anyone familiar with Newton's Laws of Motion will tell you, an object in motion tends to stay in motion. Inertia. Ryan Daniels is falling, and he seems to think he can stop himself through sheer force of will. That sort of thing only happens on the telly. I can tell you that one of the first lessons I was taught, was that desire is not everything. Wanting something strongly enough does not mean that you will get it. If it did, every match would end in a tie. This is the WCF. You are not the only one who wants the U.S. Title.
He raises his leg to kick the ants again, but then puts it back down.
One day, I will be bored of kicking, and then the ants will live in peace. One day, the belt will belong to someone else. But not yet.
He walks away. The camera zooms in on the ants' reconstruction project. Fade out.
