Alex Richards watches the big screen television inside of his spacious SUV the Strange Rover. The screen is filled with highlights of past WCF greats. Great matches like Joey Flash vs. Dune from War. Bobby Cairo winning his first world title from Victor Taylor. The battle between the victorious Natural Ice Beckman and Bobby Cairo at One. Johnny Reb winning the world title in a ladder match against Dake Ken. We could go on and on but there simply isn't enough words to name all the great WCF world title battles. Alex reflects upon the action in a wistful tone.
Richards: Endgame. The last pair of WCF shows. As the current and final WCF world champion I'm in the main event of the first night. I could have been defending my championship against anyone. I could be facing Natural Ice Beckman in a drunken death match. Two alcoholics drinking and beating each other senseless. I could be facing Bobby Cairo in a rubber match. Instead we will forever be one and one against each other. Now don't get me wrong I'll certainly take being 500 against the Godfather. I could have faced a legend from before my time. Jack of Blades. Lawnmower Jones. I could have had a first ever match against Joey Flash! The only time we ever battled was verbally on twitter during an internet title defence against someone else. You know what all those matches have in common?
Alex scratches his chin.
Richards: All of those matches would have been a challenge. All of those matches I would be unable to guarantee a win. The result would be in doubt. My match at Endgame.. This just isn't so. Teo Blaze and Noble Savage? I could have faced a legend in my final WCF appearance. Instead I'm facing off against not one but two WCF afterthoughts. Well when the match is over I'll make sure they remain that way. Afterthoughts. I'm proud to be the final WCF world champion and neither of my opponents deserves that honour. So I'm gonna make sure it stays that way. I'm not going to be able to defeat a legend but I will be able to stop two people from ever being able to lay claim to being WCF legends themselves.
Ummm.. you might want to see this.
The voice of Shaun Zach Richards floats into the room from his spot behind the wheel of the Rover. Rebecca Thatch walks into the tv area.
Thatch: Shaun said to tune your tv to channel 666 I figured that sounded like fun.
Richards: I just know it's gonna be something emo.
Alex shuts off the WCF action, which happened to be showing the classic match between Creeping Death and Steve Carr and tunes the tv to channel 666. The couple looks at the screen.
Richards: Tempest Television Network? This has got to be awful. Teo loses the television title and they spin it into this? What the shit.
Thatch: That's adorable! They have a show on called baby baking. I don't know why the host is wearing an executioner's mask but the chef's hat the baby has on is cute.
Richards: I got a bad feeling about this.
Thatch: Don't make fun of me just because I have a soft spot for babies. Wait.. what.. why are they putting the baby into the oven?
Executioner:(from screen) Turn the oven to 350 degrees until the baby stops screaming then dig in. Bon Appetite.
Thatch: That's disgusting.
Announcer: Up next... America's Funniest Fatal Hexes!
Richards: Yeah... we're gonna put a stop to this.. right quick. Once again someone else is going to have to clean up one of Teo's messes. Tempest Razum never would have gotten the clout to launch this fucking dumpster fire of a television network if Teo didn't drop the belt to her. Without saying a damn word no less. I'd give him a pass if this was the first time something like this happened. But everyone remembers the time he lost the internet title to Lilith, giving the ultimate troll an increased profile.
Thatch: Wasn't it Katherine Phoenix?
Richards: There was a forgettable story where Logan explained they were the same person. I don't blame for forgetting Becky. I'd want to forget everything about Lilith too. But I can't because people are going to think of her as a three time internet champion thanks to Teddy. Because of that someday future wrestling fans are going to think of her as a greater Internet Champion then I was because of Teddy's blunder. Teddy disgraced MY internet title. Not content he also disgraced the television title by losing that to Tempest Razum, a complete unknown. Unless someone else does something about it she is going to be the last television champion. I will not allow Teo to ruin the history of the greatest prize in wrestling as well. That is simply not going to happen. I'm going to put an end to Noble Savage and the Tempests plans of immortality very soon.
Thatch: I'll go ride shotgun and make sure Shaun is headed in the right direction.
Richards: Good idea Becky. But first I'm going to lay to rest Teo's last hope of being world champion. I knew Teo was going to ultimately cash in his Infinity title against me. For one simple reason. I have never beaten Ted. Two tag matches. One singles match. Zero victories. But I'm not worried at all. This is a world title match. That means only one thing.. Teo is going to lose. Because Teo always loses world title matches. It doesn't matter how close he comes. He competed in an epic match against Dune at XIII. He seemingly had the title won against Stephen Singh until he was arrested. Teo always finds a way not to emerge with the title.
Alex shakes his head, disgusted.
Richards: I'm not mad at Teo for losing world title matches though. That's no crime. Very few people ever win the world title. What disappoints me about Teo is the fact that he wasted his potential. That he never learned from his mistakes. His idea of adapting was changing his name slightly. Teo Del Sol, Teddy Blaze, Teo Blaze... this is not evolution this is merely window dressing! All those names have slightly different attitudes attached to them but the same results. A new coat of paint does not make a new house Teo. By the way try slime green.. it's a highly underrated color.
SZR: What does that have to do with anything?
Richards: I just want to see more slime green colored houses.
Thatch: You are not painting the bar slime green.
Richards: It's better then Teddo's damn red colored glasses.
Thatch: I'll give you that.
Richards: See that Teo? A free lesson. You can be entertaining and still be a world champion. But unfortunately learning passed you over a long time ago. People think I'm some sort of simpleton but I wasn't born a champion. I made myself a champions through hard work. I'd love to make jokes about Zim-Quila here. Maybe pull some cool prop out of my doctor's bag. I believe I'm keeping a live ferret in there at the moment for just that reason. Then I'd take the ferret to Madison Square Garden and..
Alex grins, as if savouring the rest of his idea.
Richards: But then I never would have been world champion. There's a time for fun. But there is also a time for honest self reflection. My first run in the WCF I was tag team champion with hardcore legend Oblivion. I was one of the most dominant internet champions of all time. I was one of the founding members of a stable named the Pack that took on the establishment. I was later invited to join the elite stable of all elite stables, Pantheon. I had a solid career. I would have continued having a solid career. I would have been remembered as a solid performer. You know what I would have been? I would have been you Teddy.
Alex begins to recite from memory. His memory is much better then you would expect from someone who's spent half a decade downing every shot of Zim-Quila and every handful of pills he could find. Apparently he's a medical marvel or something.
Richards: People's Champion. Internet Champion. Tied for Internet Champion of the year. Two time tag team champion. Trios champion. Wining that title from myself and Pantheon no less. One and only Infinity Champion. Four Time Television Champion. Yet in spite of all of that.. he completely wasted his potential. Teddy was content with merely being very good. He was in the People's Choice he faced every major star. Yet he never risked it all to win the world title. He just kept doing the same things over and over again hoping for better results. Spoiler alert.. those better results never came. Because he never learned from his mistakes. He never gave himself the tools to get better. He merely stayed in the WCF, hoping that one day he would get lucky.
Alex chuckles.
Richards: He never did. He entered the WCF before David Sanchez, Wade Moor, Dune, Joey Flash, Jared Holmes, and Michael X. He had heated battles with each and every one of those men. He even scored victories over most of them. But they all got the last laugh on Teddy. Because they all went on to be world champion. Dune and Joey Flash are even one of the matches people are most looking forward to this weekend.
Alex shrugs.
Richards: Guess I wouldn't have gotten a match against either of them even if I didn't have to waste my time destroying Teddy in yet another world title loss. Which is exactly what Teo deserves. He doesn't deserve to be world champion. I earned this world title. Even though both of my opponents are going to talk about how I wouldn't have won if not for Noble Savage interfering in my cage match with Bonnie Blue. I earned the world title nevertheless. Because I realized that the Alex Richards who competed in the WCF in 2015 was not a world champion. I saw my partner Jay Omega win the world title. He joined the WCF after I did. He won WAR. He won the world title in the same match I competed in. I had the same chance of winning that title that night that he did. But I couldn't do it while he did. I remembered that Teo. I remembered that Jay Omega was better then me. I was happy my friend won the title don't get me wrong. But I wanted my own moment. I wanted my own world title.
Alex looks at the world title belt. It is nicely polished, shiny, obviously an object Alex is proud of and takes good care of.
Richards: So I risked everything. I left the WCF. I ultimately joined the UCI. I associated myself with a founding member of Pantheon, Polar Phantasm, I became best friends with the clone of legendary world champion Johnny Reb Bonnie Blue. I grew as a wrestler. I grew as a person. The fact that I learned there was a world outside of wrestling that I could influence with my success drove me to become a better wrestler. A better person. And a world champion. I gave up everything I knew for a chance to be something more and it paid off.
Alex shakes his head.
Richards: I am world champion because I was fearless. You'll never be world champion Teddy because you refused to leave your comfort zone. You'll say you always stayed loyal to the WCF. I say bullshit. You were afraid to go anywhere else. You were afraid you would fail somewhere else. Because of that you failed in the WCF every time you faced off for that world title. We both beat world champions. My wins were over the likes of Jeff Purse, Oblivion, Bobby Cairo, Logan and Steve Orbit. The difference is.. I wanted more and went out and learned how to get it. Like I said earlier.. people think I'm stupid but you were the one who ran from success. So who's really stupid Teddo? I spent 5 years working to reach this level. In the end I finally captured MY WCF World Title. I finally make it to the top of the sport. I earned this shit Teddy do you really think I'm going to just hand it over to someone like you? No.. you have to earn it too Teo and quite frankly you never have and you never will. You don't even have a clue how to earn it. I took advantage of outside interference from Noble Savage. Something I didn't want. But I capitalized on it nevertheless. Because when it comes down to it.. results are all that matters. You had the title won against Stephen Singh until the police arrested you mid pin. You simply thought it was unfair. Which it was. But it also shows the depths that Stephen was willing to go through to retain his title. That's a champion Teddy. That's the level of commitment you need to have in order to be world champion. I understand that. You don't. And you never will. That's also why you will never be world champion. I never beat you.. but you never won the world title. The second part is the one that is never going to change. I'll make sure of that. Deep down.. even you know it Teo.
Alex looks at his title pausing for dramatic effect.
Richards: I hope right now you're looking at your title Teddo. That Infinity Championship you earned by collecting all the stones. Defeating Sammy McPherson at One to become the first and only Infinity champion. If I would have been Infinity Champion I would have marched to the ring before, during or after the One main event and took my title shot right fucking right. You know why? Because I truly believe I would be world champion the minute I cashed in it. But you didn't do that Teddy. Why not? Because you had to wait for the perfect opportunity. Because what if you failed. What if you failed one more time. See.. you didn't cash in the belt you won with your stones because you really have no stones. You knew that ultimately in spite of being able to pick your shot at any moment.. it was not going to work out for you. So instead you acted like you were content being television champion. That you didn't want to cash in the Infinity belt because you were happy being television champion.
Alex snorts.
Richards: Bullshit! If you're happy being television champion why exactly did you become a wrestler. Nobody dreams about being a great television champion. Nobody gets into wrestling to be a great television champion. But you'll pretend it's an honour because then you don't have to cop to the truth. It's the best you could ever hope for. I was a great internet champion. People were looking forward to my scheduled battle with Zombie McMorris at One 2015. But now that I'm world champion I can admit it. Being a great internet champion is nothing compared to being world champion. Being Adam Young is better then being a legendary champion of the internet. Because he won the big prize. You know what that means Teo? Adam Young is better then you. Adam Young earned the big prize while you never could. Even worse Dion Necurat earned the big prize while you couldn't. You've been in the WCF since 2015 and you accomplished less then Dion freaking Necurat. How does that make you feel? Dion bonded himself with a God in order to gain the power to be world champion. You put on some red glasses and changed your name. Notice something Teddy? Real world champions have to risk something in order to achieve their goals. Corey Black merged with the creeping death entity. I left a sure thing as a member of Pantheon. Adam Young lost hundreds of matches before winning earning that big prize. You... you quite frankly don't deserve it. You didn't earn that shit Teddy. All of us learned what it took to be a world champion. You never did. You're going to come into End Game with one plan in mind.
Alex holds up a single figure. And drinks a single malt scotch in a boot because he is Alex Richards.
Richards: Your big plan. Hope to get lucky. Hope this is finally your time. But it's not. Someone who worked as hard as me is not going to allow you to spit on my title. Spit on my legacy. See.. I'm not going to go down as the greatest world champion in WCF history. I'm alright with that. I'm not Corey Black, I'm not Logan, I'm not Bobby Cairo. Who is? But I can carve out my own piece of history and honour champions like that. By being the final WCF champion. By stopping a flash in the pan like you Teddy from disgracing our title. Slam End Days is the day I prove how good a champion I am. This is my first title defence. It's going to be my last. So I only get one chance. One chance to show everyone how good a champion I am. Every other champion in the WCF when they lost their world title.. they got a re match. Odin Balfore got a re match at One after he lost the title to Bonnie Blue in that four way war. Bonnie Blue got a re match and regained the title from Noble Savage after she won at War. Noble is getting her re match against me after losing the belt to Bonnie. But I'm never going to get a shot at redemption if I lose the title. All the more reason not to lose the title. Especially not to unworthy fucks like Noble Savage and Teddy Blaze.
Richards: That's right.. Teo.. I said you were unworthy. Even though this week you're going to come on television and try and convince everyone that this is your destiny. Then you were always meant to be world champion. That you're a more worthy world champion then I am. You're going to talk about how you were always loyal to the WCF. How you never left even after Mexico. But.. that.. that is exactly why you don't deserve the praise you're gonna heap on yourself. You didn't stay in the WCF after Mexico because of loyalty you did it because you thought.. this is my chance. This is finally my chance to be world champion. The smaller roster should have helped you be world champion, right?
Alex smiles a rueful grin.
Richards: It certainly helped me didn't it? I'll admit it. I didn't beat hall of famers to win the world title. But I won the world title. Period. End of story. I beat everyone they put in front of me until I got a chance at the gold and I made no mistake. Even with less contenders.. did Teddy win the world title? Of course not! Teddy did not! And don't say you had better competition then I did. Freaking Thomas Bates won the world title. Thomas Bates... one of the guys Pantheon and myself took the Trios titles from. That Thomas Bates. How you gonna get Tommy Bates win the world title and you couldn't Blaze? Fuck.. you should just take your Infinity title and go home because this shit is straight up hopeless for you isn't it? Pointing out how many times you failed at winning the world title isn't even really fun anymore!
Alex shrugs.
Richards: But it's gotta be done. Because quite frankly I'm pissed off. You could have cashed in against Savage. You could have cashed in against Bonnie. You wouldn't have beaten either of them. What makes you think you can win against me? I know.. I know.. it's because it's the final chance but still I consider it an insult. You want your one world title to be MY world title. I don't fucking think so! You should have quit while you were ahead. You should have challenged Tempest Razum for a re match for the tv gold instead. I could buy you winning that. The television title.. now that's a title you can win. You win that title.. and you could have said that you were undefeated against Alex Richards. That you would have finally been world champion if the WCF didn't close. But instead.. why do you keep doing this to yourself?
Richards: You're going to leave with nothing. Just like you do every time that world title is on the line. Your winning streak against me. Over! Your Infinity Title? That's over too! Your last chance at winning the world title? Do I even need to say it? I'm sorry Teddy.. you fucked up. You wasted your career farting around with lesser titles and never took that next step. You could built a 40 foot statue of you as King of All Media for what it's worth. But me.. I'll take that one WCF world title any day of the week. See.. when you look at the history books you see Mace, Torture, Logan, Corey Black, Jayson Price, Gravedigger, Skyler Striker.. all those legends and my name is right there with them as WCF world champion. I'll be damned if I let the likes of you Teddy Blaze join our proud ranks. If you beat me Blaze.. you are going to have to half beat me to death. You are going to have to earn it. Quite frankly Ted.. you never have. Which is why I'm not worried.
Alex thinks for a moment.. then continues.
Richards: I'd like to thank Bobby Cairo. When I lost my first singles match to the Godfather I learned what it was like to face a legendary world champion. I hit him with everything I had but it wasn't enough. But in the re match I started to learn. I learned what it takes to beat a world champion. Some guys.. like me.. they can figure that shit out. Then again.. some people like Teddy Blaze. They fight legendary world champions of their own, such as Torture. They defeat them. But they learn nothing. When I beat Bobby it helped give me the confidence to be champion myself. For Teo.. he might as well have beat Biowalker. He wasted the lesson. If Torture was in this main even match his chances of victory are roughly 500 percent higher then Teddys. I literally don't nothing else to say. I'm bored. I'm done verbally savaging Teddy. He's such an easy target. But to be honest I expect it's gonna be just as easy in the ring at EndGame. I was a member of Pantheon.. the group that only accepts the best of the best. This weekend I show why they chose me as a member.
Rebecca returns to the room carrying a large tablet. She looks at her boyfriend, sighs.
Thatch: I think we need to see what's on the air now.
Richards: Tell me you located where the signal is coming from?
Thatch: Of course I did. It's in Newark, New Jersey.
Richards: At least we can stop this now.
Alex turns on the big screen again.. sees the show title.
Thatch: Man Slaughter? This is going to be horrible.
Alex though watches the screen and surprisingly lets out a massive laugh.
Thatch: Alex.. normally I enjoy your offbeat sense of humour but how is that man being chased through the forest by a masked women carrying a machete funny?
Richards: Because.. that's the fakest beard ever.
Thatch: Still not funny.
Richards: Yes it is.. because I would recognize that face anywhere even under that dollar store beard! That's Paul Reubens... I loved Pee Wee's Playhouse!
Thatch: But why would someone create this as a hoax.
Richards: Simple. Noble Savage knew we were going to see this. She knew we would come to put a stop to their fun. So this is a trap.
Rebecca grins.
Thatch: I love it when a good plan goes up in smoke.
Richards: This wasn't even a good plan. It's a half assed hail mary. Which is exactly what I would expect from Savage.. or either of my opponents this week for that matter. They both know taking me out before End Game is the only possible way they could take home the championship.
Thatch: This is gonna be fun.
Richards: Nope.. no fun at all. It's time we show them what we're not playing.
Rebecca nods solemnly and walks back towards the front of the Rover. Alex smiles a half smile.
Richards: Don't worry Teddy.. I only blame you for passively allowing this plan to be set in motion. Because the only way you truly do anything evil is by screwing up. You allowed The Tempest to win the television title. That's on you. I will not allow you to win the world title. That would be on me. You couldn't even set up this fake evil television network. The only thing you ever really accomplished was killing Howard Stern. And let's be real you couldn't even do that shit on your own. You needed Gemini Battle to help you do that anyways. But hey you beat Gemini Battle to become the king of all media. That's something. Unless you consider the fact that Gem won the world title when you couldn't. So it looks like you're a loser in the end one more time. There's a word for people like you Teo. Gatekeepers. You fought every break out star in the WCF in the last four years. Then they all broke out and left you behind. That's what a gate keeper does. They allow better wrestlers to get the necessary experience they need before they reach the summit. Just like you did for me Ted. You beat me for the TV title a few months back. That's okay. You can have that one. Because I am the final break out star of the WCF.
Richards: This week your career, my career, everyone's career in the WCF ends. I'll let you in a little secret. Your career is about to come full circle. You started your career off at Asesinato De Mayo 2015 in a 6 way match with Snapz, Jack Coston, Raymond Hatcher, Marcus Cain, and Joey Raid. Jack Coston picked up the win. You lost. Your second match was on Slam the following week against Jayson Reynolds, Petrov, Abaddon, and Joey Raid. You lost again with Abaddon scoring the win. You started your career with two straight losses. You'll end it exactly the same. Last time out you lost to Tempest Razum losing the television title. This time out you'll lose your last chance at the world title to Alex Richards. You should thank me. Nobody remembers Jack Coston and Abaddon. But you lost to them in nothing matches. Losing to Alex Richards in the final WCF World Title Match. At least you'll be remembered for something Teo. But not as a world champion.
Fade To Black
