Hey y'all. I thought this will be a fun little addition to the OOC forum, as I know many of us are of the nerdy variety, and it seems Dice rolling games are back in vogue so here it is...
THE TABLE TOP ROLE PLAYING GAME DISCUSSION THREAD!
In the last year I've actively started playing them and learning more about the community as a whole, and let me tell you, that is a deep dive, but a really interesting one never the less.
Lets start this off with a simple topic; Current and past campaigns! What campaigns are you currently playing? And if you aren't playing any at the moment, tell us about some of your past experiences. If you've NEVER played any, maybe talk about a Table Top game that interests you or ask questions about starting a group.
I, myself, am currently in two active groups right now. One is online over skype with a few buddies playing DnD 5e (currently going through my second campaign with them after being slapdash thrown into the last one last minute). The other group is my family playing a pretty simple D6 system game called Atomic Highway (basically Mad Max in dice rolling form) and its our first campaign together and its been pretty fun thus far.
How about you guys?

D&D 5e usually as a player, have a badass monk.
Dragon Age RPG, based on the world and lore of the video game series. Still has some stuff, but is really dumbed down from a tabletop perspective. 3d6 system with three basic classes, four races, and a lot of room for DM customizing. Played as a character but prefer to DM/GM this one.

I just recently got into Dragon Age, because Gable picked up Inquisition in an attempt to get me to play something other than Dark Souls, and I dug it (though he failed as I continue to play Dark Souls...does DS have a TT game? >.>), interesting to learn it has TT game of its own, though I guess when even wrestling has one, I shouldn't be surprised haha.

DnD, ADnD, and 2nd ed, and 3rd ed, and 3.5 ed, and Modern D20, Vampire the masquerade, Rifts, Ninjas and Superspies, Shadowrun, Warhanner, Warhammer 10k, 20k, 100k, ElfQuest, … damn there's so many I've forgotten.
On the card side, MTG from unlimited to date, nothing else

It actually has two. One is a d20 system that realistically is a dumbed down D&D/Pathfinder with a different lore and fewer options, and then mine- a 3d6 with some different mechanics. One of my favorites is referred to as "stunt points", basically the equivalent of your character's supercharged attacks in Inquisition. It has Disarm, Knock Prone, Mighty Blow, Mighty Spell, and numerous other add-on abilities you can add to your attack when you roll doubles. One of the dice is supposed to be a different color or somehow distinguishable otherwise from the other pair, and when you roll doubles with any of the three dice, the separately colored die indicates how many points you can spend on special features for an attack, conversation, or investigative interaction.

That actually sounds pretty interesting. I'm constantly surprised by the number of different dice systems out there, currently learning Call of Cthulhu's BRPS D100 system and going from DnD's D20 system to that is going to be a bit of whiplash haha.

They should make a tabletop roleplaying game rental service. AirDnD.

Back in high school I played a lot of Vampire: The Masquerade, and actually ran into an old girlfriend because one of my friends married her sister. Any way I was set to play one of the characters on film. They would have slicked my hair back, and dressed me like a vampire that had lived through out hundreds of years. I was even going to have a scene where I hit a girl up against a wall before getting mine. But the project was cancelled. It's too bad too because I would have loved to step into the shoes of the villain, and have something like that immortalized on film.
I haven't played Vampire: The Masquerade in a while. We have friends that do D&D now but we haven't been able to get together to do any games.

Not enough campaigns utilize 'throwing dinosaurs at it' as a solution. In our current DnD campaign the DM encouraged us to make homebrew races, so I made a race I've dubbed "Vyadiz" (think Tall Angry Cannibal Goth TM), made him a Fighter and gave him a glaive. Needless to say, he is getting the party in a lot of trouble. That sounds like it would have been a lot of fun to watch. Always sucks when schedules don't line up or people are just busy. The constant plight of TT games. I've had to put off playing with family for the last couple weeks because work has been kicking my ass. They should make a tabletop roleplaying game rental service. AirDnD. I saw this post and about an hour later I saw someone use the same pun, so now I am convinced this needs to be a thing.
