Mikami is in his hotel room, flipping through papers held in a manila file.
Mikami: GWC veteran. He has some skill. Then again, they said the same about Chris Avery.
Mikami closes the folder and turns to face the camera.
Mikami: Nevertheless, I must stay vigilant if I want to keep this belt.
The camera pans down to the U.S. Title belt, and then back up to face Mikami.
Mikami: I know that I originally said that I was not too enthusiastic about winning this thing, at first, but I have come to see it is a symbol. A symbol for multiple things. On the most basic level, this belt represents a piece of the WCF. A piece that is mine to liberate from sin and death. This belt tells everyone in the WCF that I am a champion. A leader. The WCF needs a leader, a real leader, not another Gravedigger or Seth Lerch. The WCF needs this, and so does the world. Because you see, on a higher level, this belt, the United States title belt, represents a piece of the world. The United States of America, mine to free. America is called the land of the free, but what you Americans call freedom is a lie. Your founding fathers are turning in their graves.
He unstraps the belt and lays it on the bed next to him as he sits down.
Mikami: You think freedom means you can just do whatever you want. That is not how your Constitution was intended to be read. Those men, those flawed but brilliant leaders, what they were actually describing was the future, not the present. You all think you have reached the destination, when in actuality, you never even bothered to start the journey.
He pats the belt.
Mikami: Do not think that I am singling out your country. I am not just describing America. I am describing the world. The only problem with America is that there are many that aspire to be you. America is the Seth Lerch of the world. A leader who does not lead. What happens to the followers? They become the Ryan Daniels of the world.
He brushes his hand through his hair and looks down at the floor.
Mikami: Ryan Daniels, in his “Kid Hollywood” days, represented everything that was wrong with America. Excess. Greed. Ambition. Pride...pride cometh before a fall. Ryan Daniels would have been a name on my list. My list. That is how corrupt the WCF has become now. I have a list of the unrighteous, who deserve punishment. But One higher than me already took care of Ryan Daniels. There is nothing left to punish. It would accomplish nothing. But even if that were not the case, he would be a low priority now. A new name is going to be put on this list after Slam. At or near the top. It all depends on who does what. I am not in control for once, but I do not have to be. All I have to do now is watch and wait.
