IN GOD I TRUST: THE NEXT PHASE
SANTA MONICA, CA.
DECEMBER 5, 2018
DECEMBER 5, 2018
The cool night breeze made me hold my arms a little closer to my body. The middle of November and here I was, walking along the cold sand of the beach at night. The moon was bright, the ferris wheel cast a glow over the tents of the homeless people and those who just camp out on the beach.
I make my way past a tent with a couple, I could hear them making love. The intense moans fade out as I get closer to the rush of black liquid coming toward me. The tide crashes against the shoreline and recedes back into the unknown.
I zip my jacket up to my chin and then sit cross legged underneath the pier. The water crashing against the wood beams used to scare me as a little girl, but now, it was the most peaceful thing to listen to. Slow deep inhales are followed by long winded exhales.
The Beach.
This was my sanctuary. This is where I found piece. This is where I come to study myself. This is where Mischa can serve Mischa. Too often in life we cater to others. We must always take a little time away from the hustle and bustle of the day and just focus on self. In this moment, I was focusing on self. It was what was most important.
I had the biggest fight of my entire career coming up and it’s against Samantha Tolson. The G.O.A.T. She’s the perfect person to lose to. It’s a win win for me. I will learn a lot, I will experience some new highs and lows, and in the end if I win I’ll be moving to the finals of the Immortal Kingdom Crown!
The excitement was too much for me and I did not want to get ahead of myself. I’d hate to count the chickens before they hatch but right now the feelings I had just made me want to shout from the top of a mountain. I was advancing in my career for once. I was finally mixing it up with the main event crowd.
I did not expect to pick up a victory over Seth Lawless and after he was injured I knew what my fate was. Now, sure I hope he is okay, but it’s business and I don’t want to see anyone in this match with Tolson but me.
“Hey I’ve got these headphones for sale.” The Homeless approaches me with a pair of Dre Beats in his hands. They looked brand new. I knew he was gonna want something for it, but what was he seeking? Hmmm…
“How much do you want for them?” I stop my moment of focusing on self and ask the man.
“Oh you got any crystal?” He asks. His two front teeth were missing and the rest were yellow and on their way out as well. He was dirty as fuck. I don’t think drugs was what he needed right now.
“Sorry I can’t help you. I don’t do drugs. You shouldn’t either.” I wasn’t sure if he comprehended what I was saying but he was mildly coherent. He continues down the beach bothering others for a hit of crystal. Whatever keeps you motivated right?
Some people attached themselves to emotions, some to materials, others to moments and situations. I was attached to one thing, success. My girl Jazmin was reaching success and I planned on doing the same. Talia Areano was the first of the Fempire to reach a level of notoriety, now it was my turn. My moment. My reckoning. My glory. Anyone will tell you, I have faced one hell of an obstacle as a California Wrestling talent, loss after loss, upset after upset, and I stay exclusive ‘til the end because I eat, sleep, and breathe this business. Many would have quit or gone onto greener pastures by now, but I ultimately believe that competing in front of the CW Audience motivates me everyday.
The adrenaline rush. The feeling you get after that victory and the fans just riot in your favor. It’s a beautiful thing. It’s something that someone like Samantha Tolson probably takes for granted. And this is just me taking into consideration a long standing tenure at the top of the ladder. Does it get boring? Does it get lonely? Do you often seek competition who see themselves on the same level? I woudn’t know because I am still new to the business but I know in this next match, I am going to learn a lot more than I could ever have imagined.
I rise from my seated position in the sand and dust sand off of the butt of my skinny jeans and my phone starts to ring. It’s Elsy.
“Hey girl!!”
ELSY LEWIS: Mischa, oh my gosh I have an amazing story to tell you.
I step further away from the loud noise of the waves crashing against the beams and plc my index finger in my left ear. “Tell me. Tell me. What’s happening girl?”
ELSY LEWIS: Oh you won’t believe this.
I knew I was going to burst into laughter the moment she told me. I place the phone on speaker and shout into the receiver, “Shoot with it girl.”
END.
