~~The scene opened upon is Lance and his agent Matt walking side by side down a deserted hallway. Lance is dressed in black dress pants and a blue button up dress shirt. Matt is wearing jeans and a t-shirt. The two are walking in silence for a moment before discussion begins.~~
Lance, I took you seriously when you said that this time around things would be different. You told me that you would not run on emotions and that you had yourself in check. I actually believed you, and then you go out and prove me wrong by blowing your cool the second time you get back in front of the camera. The way that you blew up was embarrassing for yourself, and for me. You cannot let this roster know that you are emotionally unstable.
What were you thinking?
What?
Believing me when I said that I have my emotions in check. It isn't like you are new at this. You have been my agent for ten years, and my brother for even longer. You above anyone else should know that while it has been a pitfall at times, the fact that I am unstable and that I run on emotions has worked out way more times than it has failed me. I mean, my track record speaks for itself.
Well, we shall see I suppose. You need to remember that the business has changed a great deal since you were last inside of a ring. This week, we will find out for sure how much you have in the tank, and whether your old ways will work. I was sent a copy of the SLAM card.
Oh yeah? Who has the chance of a lifetime to get into the ring with the Canadian Icon?
Four somebody's actually. All of the new members of the WCF roster.
~~Lance stops walking and stares Matt down. Matt walks a few paces before he notices that Lance has stopped, and he is staring a hole through him. He turns and looks at Lance.~~
What is it?
You need to get me out of that match.
What? I can't. What is the problem?
You must. You know what happened the last time that I climbed into a ring with more than one person. I basically had my career ended. I have developed a fear of being in the ring with too many people since that moment, and you know it.
I know. That is why I had a hand in booking that match. I told them that you needed to fight more than one person.
~~At this, Lance blows his cool, clearly. He takes a few steps toward Matt and pins him up against the wall.~~
YOU WHAT? How could you do that? I strictly told you in confidence that I was not able to fight a match like that. What do you do? You get one booked.
Lance, let me go. You know that I have never let you down in your career. I know what is best, and I know that for you to be successful you need to get back to playing mind games, and having no fear in that ring. You need to get back to being the Canadian Icon and not the Petrified Pussycat.
And you get me back to that by playing one of the worst mind games of all time?
~~Lance lets go of Matt, but he is still looking pissed off.~~
Look, you may not like it, but it's a fact. You have four opponents, and you need to prepare for all four of them in different ways. Would you like the run down?
Well, I guess that I have no choice. I'm also sure I will be going in half blind because as you said, those four guys are all new, so you can't no too much.
Well, sadly you are right there. But I will give you what I have got.
First up is Jason Anderson. From what I can tell, he is a powerhouse. He likes to fight tight, and he is very technically sound. He is a big man, but he carries himself well. At six foot three, and two hundred eighty pounds, he gets people's attention, and he can back it all up. He likes to talk, but I think from my scouting that he can also be taken off track.
Next up is Perfeckshion. This guy...is different. I mean, he is, I really don't know how to explain him.
Different like, a different style of wrestler, or different like the kind of person that rides the short bus?
Short bus, for sure. I would even say he probably is supposed to wear one of those foam helmets for when he falls over. That's really all I can tell you about him so far.
Then we have the Mayne Event. He is from an amateur background, and prefers to be technical. He is very technically sound, and I would even venture to say that he may be the number one challenge in this match. Make sure that you don't make any in ring mistakes with this one.
Finally, we have Jesse Blake. What can I say other than the guy has cancer, and because of it has an arrogant streak the size of tornado alley. This guy thinks that he is the shit, and if you tell him otherwise, he will take you out.
So, essentially, its going to be a very technical match. I know that that is one of your strengths, but I think that mixing your brawling background and some high flying moves in there will set you above the rest.
Look, this all sounds great, and I will prepare myself, because I know that I am the cream of the WCF crop. But won't lie, I am still not keen on being in that ring with four other guys. Reckless Jack made me believe he was on my team, and then he sold me out. What if one of these guys takes me in and then turns on me...I may not recover. It was traumatic Matt.
I know it was. Just get into your mindset, the rest will come. I promise. I have faith in you.
~~The two come to the end of the hall and the camera pans around to a dimly lit arena. The ring is set up, and Lance looks at Matt.~~
Go spend some time in the ring bro. Reacquaint yourself. You need to be in top form on Sunday. Catch you later.
~~Lance turns and heads to the ring. He starts walking around it and he can be faintly heard.~~
OK, Sunday is going to be very tough on me. It is a lot to overcome. We need to be on the same page, you look after me, and I will look after me. Together we can get me through this...
~~Lance continues to talk to the ring as the scene fades out altogether.~~
