Fade in to Mikami's latest base of operations/hotel room. A large bulletin board sits on an easel in the centre of the room. It's covered in photographs, linked to one other with pieces of red string, and everything held onto the board with transparent push pins and Sellotape. Post-it notes next to every photo except one have Japanese writing on them. Mikami's hand reaches over to Corey Black's photo and places a post-it underneath. He starts to speak, very quietly.
Mikami: I have been put in another pointless match this week. At least, it seems pointless. It does not look like it will advance me towards his goal. I would think that he would have the ability to put me in whatever match he wanted, after all that he has done for me so far. Especially seeing as Gravedigger is just a paper tiger. Not even. The paper makes the owner, the paper is what gives him his power...and yet it is not even a real paper. What do you call that? A paper paper? What is more foolish than fool's gold? Ah, well. He works in mysterious ways. And I should not complain. This gives me another chance to punish Logan.
He grabs a marker and draws a red “X” over Logan's photo.
Mikami: The WCF was denied justice. He told me that taking Logan's United States title was punishment enough. He told me that beating a has-been would not be a deterrent to anyone. But it was...unsatisfying.
He rearranges the photos and notes on the board. Dake Ken, Corey Black, Torture and Logan on one side. The Dark Side on the other. Seth Lerch is in the middle and slightly above them, so as to not interfere with the criss-crossing pieces of string.
Mikami: The casual observer looks at this and thinks that I am overlooking my match this week. The plans for that are already in place. I am just staying one step ahead, as always. As I must. Hmm. Casual observer. Corey Black should know something about that. He is a casual thinker. Leaping from one thought to a completely unrelated one the same way he leaps from the turnbuckle. It is too bad. I thought we could be on the same side, Corey Black. But you do not understand, and it is clear from your simple-minded tirade that you never will. Telling me that Gravedigger cheated, as if that contradicted what I said. I never said you lost fair and square. I said you failed. And you childishly point out that the Dark Side had the numbers advantage, as if that makes it not your fault. As if you had no idea going into that match that something like that would happen. Pathetic.
Mikami takes a string and attaches one end to Seth Lerch. He sticks the other end onto an empty part of the board. He then does the same with Gravedigger.
Mikami: And then you challenge me...perfect. It is just all so perfect. But it was the way you challenged me, thinking that I would not eventually come for you if you had not said anything. You think I am a coward. You think...that I am afraid of you.
Mikami turns the camera onto himself, keeping his face only a few inches from the lens.
Mikami: You think...that I am afraid of you! How precious.
A large smile breaks out across his face. He starts talking again, louder now.
Mikami: You really have no idea what is coming. No one does.
He puts the camera on the ground. The scene is now sideways, and all you can see is part of a bed and the bottom half of the bulletin board.
Mikami: You could kill me. You could rip me into pieces. And you would not be able to escape. It is not just me, do you understand? It is not just me. There is no escape.
He laughs.
Mikami: Prove me wrong, Corey Black. Defeat the Dark Side. Return WCF from the unjust Gravedigger to the equally corrupt Seth Lerch. I already told you, you are a better tool than I for this task. I am not here to destroy the men who call themselves the Dark Side. I am here to destroy the actual dark side. If and when Seth Lerch regains control, my mission does not end. It has not even really started. Chris Avery needs to get his title shot. I cannot fully plan for the actions of others – although so far the WCF roster has been both predictable and helpful – but it is likely that after what I do to him, Chris Avery will not leave me alone. If I am right, he will continue to come after me. Perhaps Torture will be involved somehow, if he decides to weaken himself with a conscience. But I will not forget about you, Corey Black. Someday soon, I will accept your challenge. And then you will have unwittingly made things so much easier for me. But first...
He places a post-it on the bottom half of the board, at the empty spot where the two red strings from Seth Lerch and Gravedigger intercept. It has the Japanese symbols for “Masaya Mikami” on it.
You have to prove me wrong...Creeping Death.
