And all these stupid silly songs…
Keep trying to catch your ear…
I’m trying desperately…
It’s just so hard to persevere…
The scene begins in beautiful Japan, out by a lake somewhere. Beautiful trees, full of every colour flowers surround the lake. The sky is dark and starry, and the full moon lights the park beautifully. And then the peaceful, quiet, serene atmosphere is broken by an individual stumbling his way into it. Skyler Striker, still dazed, is walking near the lake, and before he can even take a few more steps, Skyler collapses on the ground. There is no-one else around to see this, as it is obviously night. On top of all this, Skyler, still wide awake, starts crying.
SS: God… where are you? I need you… I can’t… I won’t… let my family fall apart…
So let me ask you a question: how many of you have ever had God speak to you? Not many, that’s for sure. To be honest, I doubt any of you would have. So it’s generally pointless trying to explain it. Let’s just leave it at saying that the voice that replies to Skyler’s cry sounds extremely familiar to the one that spoke to him on the rooftop two days ago.
??: I’m still right beside you, Skyler. You just haven’t been listening. You’ve been ignoring me.
Skyler does not even reply to this, simply crying more on the grassy bank of the lake, ripples spreading over it as it begins to rain gently.
??: Listen, Skyler. You needed to know. I know that when this is all over, you’ll thank me for telling you beforehand. It’s all a part of how you’ll respond to when the event actually occurs. This match with Creeping Death? It’s just a training match, regardless of how evil it may sound. You need to pull yourself together and fight, Skyler. You need to fight. If you don’t, then events are going to change dramatically.
Skyler suddenly becomes furious and turns to the sky, shouting through his tears.
SS: If I don’t? YOU were the one who said the future’s been set! You were the one who said we’ve already made our choices and we’re just acting them out! It doesn’t make a difference what I do!
??: Oh, but it does, Skyler. It makes more of a difference than you’ll ever know. I want you to do one thing for me, Skyler. I want you to wake up, and fight. Jade and Katie are both counting on you. You aren’t going to exit the chamber the same. You’ll be barely able to breathe. That’s a guarantee whether you win or lose. The difference is that whether you fight or not determines whether or not you exit the chamber conscious.
Skyler, still in disbelief and anger, replies.
SS: Even if I fight… it’s still not going to change the fact that this event is going to happen, will it.
??: No.
SS: So I go into this with no motivation.
??: No, Skyler. You go into this showing strength. You go into this, knowing you have a weapon that Creeping Death will NEVER have. He has already made his choice. He, Skyler, will never have me. You do. Go, Skyler. Fight. Creeping Death will expect nothing less from you, and the outcome will change again if he has to fight a different battle – or a different Skyler.
Skyler nods to himself and gets to his knees. Instead of rising, though, Skyler begins praying. The voice does not speak to him again, but he continues nonetheless.
