Gimmick:
Not MUCH is known about Corey Black's history. He was born in or around Death Valley, California, and forced to adopt the name "Volz." There is one story that has been made public. His father, when Corey was nine years old, beat his brother, Kirk and sister, Sara literally to death for an unknown reason. Traumatized, Black took a baseball bat, and ended his father's life in a rage. Getting through trial by way of self defense, Black and his mother moved to Des Moines, Iowa. Throughout school, Corey was tormented for the actions. When he was 16, his mother passed away in a car accident. Corey was sent even more into the darkness of an unfulfillable life. He barely graduated high school, and as soon as he did, he enrolled in a wrestling school. The instructor was a guy by the name of The Crow. He saw potential in Black and a man dubbed Frost, however, Black and Frost had little interest in the basic technical style they were being taught. The Crow realized this, and pulled the young men aside, asking them to come in after hours, and develop a style Corey maintains today ... suicidal. The two men would go at it tooth and nail weekly for about two years. During this time, Crow gave Black a ring name, that of "Creeping Death." The Crow enrolled "Creeping Death" in a little federation at an undisclosed age. He has since both dominated federations and been the joke. Black has also moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and has an apartment in Tokyo, Japan, as he is very often booked overseas in WCF Japan. When in GWC, CD's mind got the best of him and he split into four personalities. Creeping Death, Creeping Dragon, Creeping Gematria, and Joker Death. It was unknown which persona would come through the curtain. Since then, CD has himself under control, even taking the Creeping Death paint/mask off and cutting his hair, he's revealed his actual name is Corey Black, and he's not going to hide it anymore.
Black's attitude can change on a dime. One minute he'll be joking around, the next he'll be as serious as can be.
Height/weight:
5'9'' - 202lbs
Hometown:
Residing in Minneapolis, Minnesota / Tokyo, Japan
Alignment (Face/heel/neutral):
Neutral
Appearance/attire:
Corey Black is a pretty generic, good looking guy after dropping the mask and hair of Creeping Death, with decent muscle tone. Not Batista style or anything, but not a slob either. Now, he has real short black hair, and a black chinstrap beard that connects his sideburns. On his chin, the hair is longer, in a goatee fashion. Black has two piercings; one in his left eyebrow with a spike, and the right side of his lower lip with a hoop. Corey's left arm is a full sleeve of tattoos, featuring skulls, spider webs, pumpkins, Jack Skellington, monsters like vampires, werewolves, zombies and most things Halloween. The only colors used are black/gray, red and orange. On his right arm he has the black tribal Slipknot "S" on the underside of his forearm, between his wrist and inner elbow. On his back, he has black angel wing tattoos, as well. Black has a scar of a row horizontal lines on the right side of his body on his ribcage from a weed whacker.
In the ring, Corey Black wears simple, basic black tights (the ones that are like short shorts, think AJ Styles before the long tights, or Austin Aries), with an orange spiderweb design on the back, and a jack-o-lantern with an evil smile on the front. Corey wears no shirt. Black has black boots and black kick pads, no thanks to Japan. His accessories are black elbow pads, black knee pads, and black wrist tape. Knee pads look like extensions of the boots.
Entrance (Specify music):
No theatrics. No lights going out, nothing. Machine Head's cover of "Hallowed Be Thy Name" by Iron Maiden hits the PA system. With every bell toll, the lights flash brighter. When Robb Flynn comes in singing, the crowd sings along. "I'm waiting in my cold cell, when the bell begins to chime. Reflecting on my past life, and it doesn't have much time. Because at five o'clock, they take me to the gallows pole. The sands of time, for me, are running looooow!" One minute and eight seconds in, when the guitar hits, Corey Black comes through the curtain and onto the stage, wearing the Creeping Death mask, along with a black hoodie with the hood up, and Nikki Venus by his side. Black and Venus stop on the stage and take in the reaction from the crowd, Corey looking out to them from behind the mask. Corey walks down to the ring, not veering from a straight shot into the squared circle, while Nikki walks behind him. Corey slides in under the bottom rope and gets up, throwing the devil horns as he stands, to which the crowd does back. Nikki stops on the floor before the ring and stands there cheering on her man. Corey pulls his hood down and removes Creeping Death mask, once again looking out and getting a reaction. Black takes off the hoodie and drops all the items on the apron, then walks to the far corner and awaits the match to begin.
Style:
Extreme, High Flying, extremely innovative, MMA (basically a mix of Sabu, AJ Styles, Rob Van Dam and Hayabusa with HEAVY Japanese influence. Now after the retirement, Corey brings an element of Mixed Martial Arts to his matches.)
Favorite Moves:
(Finisher worthy moves listed under finishers as well)
Fisherman Brainbuster, Death Valley Driver, Reverse Huricanranna, Lariat, Kudome Valentine (Vertebreaker), Van Daminator, Van Terminator (normal and Tree of Woe, front flip optional), H Thunder (Emerald Fusion), Tony Jaa style Muy Thai flying knee strikes (single or both knees, jumping at the opponent's face, flipping, whatever), Busaiku Knee Kick (basically Samoa Joe's OLE Kick, with the knee instead of the foot), Exploder (overhead throw) Suplex, Dragon Suplex, Styles Clash, Cross Arm Scoop DDT, H Edge (Rock Bottom), Fallaway Slam swung out into an H Edge, {ALL VARIATIONS of Powerbombs, German Suplexes, DDTs, Spinebusters, Neckbreakers, Dropkicks, Enziguris, Hurricanranas and Springboard moves}, Brainbuster, Michinoku Driver, Falcon Arrow, Superkick, Gore, Dominator to X-Factor, T-Bone Suplex, Gargoyle Suplex (head and arm overhead), Tombstone, Diamond Cutter, Back turn layout kick to the back of the head (Pele), Piledriver, Kryptonite Krunch, Shock Treatment Torture Rack to Backbreaker, Northern Lights Suplex (released or held for a pin), Shining Wizard, Backdrop Driver, Stiff Tajiri-like kicks, Phoenix Splash, Super Mario Stomp from Top Rope, Sky High Leg Drop from the top, Sky High Flying Elbow Drop from the top, Firebird (450) Splash, Shooting Star Press, Shooting Star Leg Drop, Frog Splash (5 Star variety), Swanton Bomb, Double Rotation Moonsault, Triple Jump Moonsault, Arabian Facebuster (top rope leg drop w/ chair), Air Sabu (chair or person assist), Every suicide plancha known to man, Asai Moonsault, Sliced Bread #2, Tree of Woe Super Mario Stomp, Middle Rope Fisherman Brainbuster, Side Standing Jump Super Hurricanrana (Sabu style), Super Falcon Arrow, Dragon Sleeper, Triangle Hold, Sharpshooter, Texas Cloverleaf, Arabian (Camel) Clutch, MMA strikes, grapples, and submissions (all moves delivered are stiff as hell and very impactful, as per the Japanese influence)
Trademark move and description:
"Life to Lifeless" - Corey Black lifts the opponent up in a suplex, and lays them across the top rope, so that they lay parallel to the mat. Black pulls them out far enough so that their legs are on the ropes. From here, Black leaps up, clutches them behind the head and places both knees in their face, falling onto his back in a Face Blower/Code Breaker. This sends the opponent recoiling back, and falling off to a side.
"Butcher's Hook" - Corey Black positions himself behind the opponent and chickenwings both arms. Black throws the opponent back in a Tiger Suplex with such crazy force they flip over and land on their face. Corey keeps it hooked, though, and has them in, basically, a Cattle Mutilation.
"Harley Quinn's Smile" - Corey Black gets behind the opponent and places his index fingers in their mouth, pulling on the corners. Black then leaps up and places a foot on the back of the opponent's head. Corey falls onto his back and straightens his leg, effectively ripping his fingers out of the mouth of his opponent in a most violent fashion.
Finisher and description:
(Just to get the point across, these moves are possible match enders; Brainbuster, Fisherman Brainbuster, Backdrop Driver, Spinning Lariat, Reverse Rana, Frog Splash, DVD, Van Daminator/Terminator, Burning Hammer, Kudome Valentine (Vertebreaker))
"This Cold Black" - A basic Rings of Saturn.
"(The) Ten Ton Hammer" - Corey Black bends the opponent over and pumphandles the far arm through their legs. Black then grabs around their neck, so that his arm is between their head and their near arm. From here, Corey picks the opponent up so they are laying on their side across his shoulders.Black then dumps the opponent over on their head in a kind of side pumphandle Death Valley Driver/Burning Hammer type move.
"Your Plague" - (usually used against opponents he cannot lift) Corey Black takes the opponent and applies a front face lock. He then front flips over the opponent in a move resembling a Northern Lights Suplex by his opponent, but instead Black delvers a front flip DDT. Depending on the momentum he got while jumping, the opponent will either spike ridiculously awkward or backflip over and get dominated.
Big Match/PPV/Feud Finisher:
"For Whom the Bell Tolls" - Corey Black positions the opponent in a Pedigree, lifts them up so they are upside down with their head at Black's chest. Corey then lifts a leg and brings up the other, slamming the opponent down face first between his legs as he sits out, arms trapped behind them. Pretty much a higher angled Angels Wings.
A combination of moves Corey deems as the greatest ever strung together in a wrestling ring. First, the opponent is whipped into a corner, where upon contact Corey Black is running and jumping at their head with a big dropkick. That dropkick will usually make them fold up with all their body on the top turnbuckle due to the awesome impact of the dropkick. They will then land in a sitting position on the mat. As they land, Corey has usually already hit the opposite ropes and is on his way back. Corey will bring his foot up as he approaches the opponent at full speed and hit a running low yakuza kick to the side of the opponent's face, stopping himself with the ropes. Corey drags the opponent into the middle of the ring, where he climbs a turnbuckle that their head is facing. Corey then completes the devastating combo by jumping off the top rope (sometimes he'll springboard), getting massive air, and bringing his knees up. Corey lands on the opponent's face with both knees after dropping from a most impressive altitude.
Manager? If so, name and description: Nikki Venus, former owner/manager of GWC. If she were to be based on anyone, it's Megan Fox. No doubt. Delicious.
