The Global Wrestling Coaltion, GWC, three letters that mean so much to me. Three letters that defined who I was for quite a period of time. Those little three letters brought me great joy and great sorrow. Without GWC, I'm not certain I'd still be in wrestling today and I'm not joking around when I say that. After my horrific injury here in WCF, Timebomb 2007, I had to stop wrestling for a couple of months and when I got back, I wasn't sure if I still had it in me to keep going.
So I just worked at GWC for a bit, seeing if I still had that drive, still had that love for it. Thankfully, I still had it and I became what I once was. I was a great professional wrestler again and it was thanks to GWC. Danny Vice understood that I needed some time to get back to where I was and where I was headed. Some people knew that before I got hurt, I was in line for a GWC World Title shot in June of 2007. That never happened and the wrestling world took an entirely different course.
I firmly believe that when I messed up that shooting star press, the wrestling world changed. I don't know if it was for the better or the worse, but it changed regardless. Instead of getting to the top of the card in GWC, my injury allowed many others to take part in the pay per view main events. Then once I came back, we had something planned where I'd be a hero coming back but then I'd take the ole rug out from under everyone and become public enemy number one.
Uncultured Youth gave GWC a common goal, to shut us up. Then once I was kicked out of that said group, it gave me a goal, to extract revenge before starting my eventual path to the GWC World Title. I battled Derek Sitar for months on end before going into the Global Wrestling Classic where I lasted until the finals, losing to Joe Ragnal, which seems a tad weird now. Either way, I was still marching towards that World Title and everyone knew that day where it went around my waist was rapidly approaching.
Fast forward to Instant Classic to my match against he who I won't name. The only time he's ever beaten me too as I recall. Still, my road wasn't over. Finally, in May of last year, our biggest pay per view, I finally won the World Title and it was one of the best moments in the promotion's history and that's just not me speaking either. People wanted to see Brad Kane standing in the middle of the ring with the World Title held high above his head.
It wasn't meant to be though as I quickly lost the World Title a mere three weeks later to Joe Ragnal. Since that day, I became apathetic towards GWC a fair bit. Sure I put in the effort but I just didn't care about winning the title again. That lasted for a couple of months until GWC's version of the "War" match came up and I won it, becoming number one contender. But...
I never got that shot at the title. So many things happened and I was left in the cold, on the outside looking in because of everything that had happened. I never that title shot and I never really cared to compete in a GWC ring again after everything went down backstage. The smarts know about it and its best left at that.
Now I have my shot at it again. Corey Black did something right for once, making this GWC Farewell match that allows me to honor the company I proudly worked for a year and a half. It allows me to get the shot I've had coming since September of last year when I won the Conquest match. He put CSB into this epic match to make it that much grander, putting that World Title up for grabs, the title that I still believe should reside around MY waist.
I gave my blood, my sweat and my tears for the Global Wrestling Coalition, just like Zak Warner did, just like DeAngelo Williams did, Mike Ragnal, Joe Ragnal and whoever else is in the match on Friday night. I've fought against these men before, I've been on the same side with these men before. Hell, last year, Zak, De, CSB and I formed a stable to combat the forces of the evil Danny Vice for months on end, all of it leading up to a giant Eight Man War that we won. Sure CSB wasn't in that match but he was in that group along with us.
I've battled Joe Ragnal many times and now, I'm his goddamn brother in law! He married my little sister so I have to see this guy on a near daily basis if we're not on the road traveling together for another promotion where he manages my sister. I used to HATE Joe Ragnal with a passion because of how I thought he cared about this business that we're in. Now that I know this guy, as a friend and as a family member, I'm proud to call him a friend while this time last year, I was still making fun of him for leaving GWC.
Mike Ragnal is a good person too. Every single guy in this match I can say I'm on great terms with and I'll continue to be on good terms with no matter who ends up winning this huge match on Friday night. I've fought these men, I've teamed with these men and all of them know what I'm willing to do in order to reclaim the GWC World Title. I know Joe will do anything, that Zak would do anything to get it for a second time. I know DeAngelo would love to go down in history as the last GWC World Champion and the same applies for Mike.
XIII, the last time I'll probably face a number of these guys. Zak, De, Joe, Mike, CSB and whoever else, it'll be an honor to step into that ring with you one last time to battle it out for that GWC World Title. No matter who walks out with it, I'll be GLAD to shake each and every single one of your hands at the end of the match.
