We all know that one day we will die. This reality becomes all too apparent when those close to us perish. Perhaps the only thing more frightening than the prospect of losing someone close is the feeling of uncertainty, the uncertainty of not knowing the fate of a loved one. This is the grim prospect that faces Bobby Cairo's family and friends on each and every day. That is why on this day Chad Evans is taking a trip to New Hampshire, the Freedom State, to give a speech about his missing friend Cairo. The people who Evans will be speaking to are members of the Truth Seekers and Free Thinkers Network. What better place to find information about his missing friend than to visit this group of fellow truth seekers?
The Network's meeting place is located at a cottage deep in the frozen woods of rural New Hampshire, tucked away from the mainstream. It’s not an easy place to find, especially at this time of year, and it's certainly not an easy terrain to navigate. That's why Chad took his Land Rover with the four-wheel drive and the GPS for the drive up from Hartford, Connecticut. The drive from Hartford to New Hampshire was only about four hours via interstate, but the drive through the woods lasted another two hours all by itself. It's a good thing Chad packed plenty of Dinty Moore beef stew into a thermos because sustenance is not aplenty in these parts.
When Chad finally arrives at the clandestine cottage deep in the New Hampshire woods, he parks the Land Rover next to the other more modest vehicles such as snow mobiles and dogsleds. Chad gets out of the Land Rover and stretches. Not that he really needed to stretch, the Land Rover is damned spacious, but stretching just seems like the thing to do after a long ass drive. The cottage itself is an impressive looking building not huge or tiny, but sturdy and spacious with a vintage yet modern Americana feel. Chad sets the alarm on the Land Rover, not that he would have to in this area, but again it seems like the thing to do. Chad walks toward what would appear to be the front door of the cottage.
Chad approaches the door, studying his surroundings, and rings the bell a couple of times, then pounds emphatically on the door. A pretty, blond, thirtysomething woman in a red sweater answers the door and greets Evans. She introduces herself as Pam. Chad informs Pam that he's here for the conference. Pam welcomes Chad inside. Pam graciously offers to take Chad's big, black, winter coat and hang it on the rack, to which Chad obliges. Chad has a chubby from staring at the Pam's boobs in that tight, red sweater, but he does a good job of hiding it with his hands. Pam leads Chad into the conference room and introduces Chad to the other attendees of the gathering. Chad, already known to this group as a disciple of Bobby Cairo, is enthusiastically greeted. Portraits of Ron Paul, Ayn Rand, Barry Goldwater, Kurt Russell and other libertarian and constitutional intellectuals adorn the walls of this room, along with a less common face... the face of Bobby Cairo. Chad makes conversation with the other Truth Seekers while noting the reverent nature of these folks toward his mentor Cairo.
It's not all love and cheeriness at this conference. Soon enough the attendees of this meeting will be espousing various theories regarding government conspiracies including the New World Order (not the wrestling stable), globalism, the war on civil liberties and other related issues of a similar, sinister ilk. Chad is told by the organizer of the conference, a man by the name of Ted Wilkins, that he will be speaking first, with the conference set to begin in a matter of minutes. Chad kills the time by studying some literature packets as he takes his seat in the audience.
After a few minutes Mr. Wilkins takes the podium and welcomes everybody to the meeting. After a brief introduction Wilkins introduces Evans to the audience as the first guest speaker. Evans stands up from his seat, straightens his tie and briskly strides to the podium. Evans nods to the audience and adjusts the microphone to accommodate his stature before speaking.
Chad Evans: "My brothers and sisters in the Network, I want to thank you for inviting me here this afternoon to beautiful, snow-capped New Hampshire. It feels a lot like home because of the weather, but most importantly because of the people. I consider each and every one of you to be my family."
The roomful of men and women smile and applaud, a few women even let out “aw’s”; clearly their hearts have been touched.
Chad Evans: "Most people hear what the politicians say, but we hear what the politicians mean. Most people hear what the media tells them, bur we hear the truth behind the media's propaganda and lies. My best friend and mentor Bobby Cairo is missing and presumed dead by the authorities, the same authorities that hunted him like a wild animal simply because he had the courage to challenge the status quo. It has also been widely purported by mass media propagandists that Cairo committed suicide to avoid capture by the authorities."
The audience groans and hisses to express their objection. Evans holds up his hand as if to say “hold on”.
Chad Evans: "I do not accept these slanderous claims as fact. The truth is that Cairo had grown disillusioned with many aspects of life. These aspects include his former employer, Wrestling Championship Federation. They also include politics and government, greed and corruption, and even the fickle nature of romance. Despite his disillusionment Cairo had never during my experiences with him exhibited a suicidal state of mind. In fact his behavior displayed quite the opposite sentiment. Before his disappearance Cairo had decided to set out upon a quest for truth. Cairo was asking many existentialist questions, questions that none of his friends and family knew the answers to. Cairo would not rest without finding the answers to those questions."
Many in the audience nod their heads as if understanding and relating to Cairo's crisis.
Chad Evans: "Before departing upon his quest for truth Cairo left me with one of the most profound statements that I've ever heard from a white man. He told me that "Life is a fight, it's an eternal struggle and we fight because we will not die." Pray tell do these sound like the words of a suicidal man? If Cairo is dead it's because they found him and killed him. However I will also remark that any rumors regarding Cairo's demise shall remain rumor until proven true. What we do know is that Cairo has made great sacrifices for our cause."
Evans holds for applause from the audience and a smattering of "here-here's" for Cairo's hard work and sacrifice.
Chad Evans: "If Cairo did make the ultimate sacrifice then it will not be in vain. We will carry the torch as Cairo did and we will march forward as guardians of truth and protectors of liberty and freedom. We cannot compromise our message, we cannot compromise our integrity. There is a new president in the White House, but we cannot give up on our dream of impeaching George W. Bush!"
Raucous applause from the audience.
Chad Evans: "We must not be afraid to meet the challenges that await us, we must not be afraid to expose the truth. If Bush had Cairo killed then that's all the more reason why all of us should raise our voices, stomp our feet, clap our hands and castigate the tyrant. They cannot silence an entire nation. They can only silence those who allow themselves to be silenced. Should we choose to walk the path of timidity and trepidation then we will be cast aside into the ashbin of history, like so many cowards before us. We must be brave, rise up in unison and topple all tyrants who stand before us. This is the only way that we will ever achieve peace, liberty and freedom. Thank you, my friends, and Godspeed!"
The audience roundly applauds Evans’ speech; in fact they rise to give Chad a standing ovation. Evans shakes Ted Wilkins' hand as he leaves the stage. Wilkins thanks Chad for his speech and then holds for another round of applause for Chad. Wilkins then introduces the next speaker, a man named Brian Kentwood. Evans is familiar with Kentwood's writings, having read his internet blog in the past. Kentwood is a libertarian and constitutionalist residing in Boca Raton, Florida. Kentwood is also a born again Christian with a distaste for all things big government, which he views as an unholy entity. Kentwood, a white man with a big afro wearing a pinstriped suit, approaches the podium. It would be an understatement to say that Mr. Kentwood bears a striking physical resemblance to the late, great UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner.
Brian Kentwood: "Friends, we are living in troubled times. Barack Obama has assumed his emperor's throne as the new leader of the freak world. We saw this man in all his glory on inauguration day. Obama was smoldering and self-righteous with all the esteemed pomposity of a false prophet. How many hundreds of millions did Obama and his liberal, Hollywood, celebrity accomplices flush down the toilet on that little shindig? It was another prime example of grotesque, liberal waste during a period of economic downturn, all in the name of coronating a new dictator in chief."
Kentwood gestures big with his hands while espousing his truths. The audience applauds and nods their heads, almost in unison.
Brian Kentwood: "The media would have us believe that for a fleeting moment America has been united in the wake of Obama's inauguration, united for the first time since 9/11. It's funny how misinformation and propaganda has a way of herding the masses. To our fellow Americans, our message should be simple. Thou art blind! Turn your head and cough, because they've got you by the balls, America! The Zionists, the globalists, the ceaseless warmongers who strip you of your rights, your money, your property and your very soul. You belong to them!"
Evans and the rest of the audience members listen attentively, but Evans can't shake the feeling that's been eating away at him. There's an interesting history to this old cottage. It was originally built by a man named Oliver Pratt. Mr. Pratt was a carpenter, but he was more notable for his political writings. He was considered by many in the underground to be a visionary, a beacon of truth in an uncertain world, a sort of predecessor to Alex Jones. Mr. Pratt had the lowdown on everything. Every time a story broke or a conspiracy was afoot, Pratt was the one breaking it or exposing it. If anyone can help Evans find Cairo, dead or alive, it would be Mr. Pratt. Evans assures himself that there must be clues around here that can help him track down Cairo and piece together the mystery of his disappearance.
Brian Kentwood: "The illusion of choice should be obvious to anyone who is paying attention. The problem is that Americans never learn. We fall out of favor with Republicans and we vote Democrat. We fall out of favor with Democrats and we vote Republican. After 9/11 most Americans closed their eyes, ignored the obvious signs of an inside job, and blindly followed the Bush administration. America followed the neo-con warmongers and their globalist interests down a path of tyranny, murder and genocide. That blind loyalty to a fractured system is what brought us two illegal wars, the deprivation of our civil liberties and utter financial ruin. Americans are now closing their eyes once again, the cynicism that defined the Bush years having quickly subsided. Americans are ignoring the signs of a staged economic collapse and blindly following Barack Obama, his corporate masters and the Zionist warmongers down that same path of tyranny, genocide and murder. Notice a trend?"
Kentwood takes a sip from his juice box to replenish his parched vocal chords. Evans figures that Kentwood will be speaking for a while longer at this rate, and so this would be a good opportunity for him to explore the cottage and search for clues while everyone else is occupied.
Brian Kentwood: "I ask you now where does the madness end? Are two illegal wars and an economic recession not enough? Do we need a global depression? Do we need a global police state? Do we need one global government united under a common dictator? This new president has already aligned himself with the private banking cartel that is responsible for the current economic crisis, handing out kickbacks and payoffs to white collar criminals to the tune of seven hundred billion dollars of your tax money. This new president has set aside an additional fifteen billion dollars to the same automakers that have outsourced tens of millions of American jobs over the last three decades, with the possibility of billions more in funding on the way. Obama's globalist agenda doesn't end there. If only it ended with corporate intrigue and back room deals."
Evans has now covertly sneaked upstairs under the guise of “using the facilities” while the rest of the Truth Seekers are listening to Kentwood’s speech. Kentwood's booming and charismatic voice carries through the halls and up the stairs, interspersed with cheers and applause for his speech. After searching through a bedroom and a lavatory, Evans sneaks into Mr. Pratt’s study to continue his search for any information that could help him track down Cairo’s whereabouts. It's a shame about Mr. Pratt. Last year he collapsed and died from a heart attack in a Denver airport terminal. He was 73 years old. The community mourned his loss and the Network was founded in his honor. With permission granted by his family, the Network was headquartered here at the cottage that Pratt built with his own two hands many moons ago.
Brian Kentwood: "Obama's foreign policy prognosis is even more troubling. Obama has pledged to extend America's occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan for the foreseeable future, including his plan to send more than thirty-thousand new combat troops into Afghanistan. Clearly Obama intends to make Afghanistan his “legacy war” just as Iraq was Bush’s “legacy war”, and what a bumbling legacy it was. In addition Obama has already ordered missile strikes in Pakistan, the strikes that took place on Friday morning, a mere 3 days after his inauguration. This attack has left at least 22 people dead. The administration is refusing to discuss this illegal and unprovoked attack with members of the press. Secrecy, anyone?"
Chad is trying to piece together the mystery of his friend’s disappearance. He sifts furiously through the documents in the desk drawers, shelves and file cabinets, but finds nothing pertaining to Cairo, save for presidential campaign fliers. Chad opens the closet and finds a box marked “Newsletters”. Chad lifts the lid off the box and finds a collection of Mr. Pratt’s old newsletters called the Liberty Chronicle. Chad digs through the newsletters, but there are hundreds of them. Chad does not immediately find anything relating to Cairo, only old newsletters with details regarding war protests, tax resisters, chemicals in our food, cleaning and beauty products, etc. Chad continues digging through the newsletters, dogged and unflinching in his pursuit of the truth. What can be found, he asks himself? Anything to help Cairo, anything at all to give me a hint of where Cairo could have gone or what could have happened to him. Chad continues his search, undeterred by the large stack of papers in front of him.
Brian Kentwood: "This policy of strikes against Pakistan is a continuation of the Bush policy toward Pakistan, which began its strikes in Pakistan during the summer of 2008. This campaign of terror has included dozens of unlawful missile strikes inside Pakistani borders, without consent of the Pakistani government or the United States Congress. If we continue down this path, with our political leaders telling us that such military aggression is necessary to “combat terrorism”, then we will no doubt be heading toward a war with Pakistan. The crucial fact that we have to remember is that unlike Iraq and Afghanistan, Pakistan is a nuclear and military superpower.”
Searching through the dead man’s cache of information is like searching for a needle in a haystack. A frustrated Evans is now talking to himself like a man possessed.
Chad Evans: “Where is it, damn it? I know it’s here, it must be, it has to be. I can feel it. I can sense its presence. I just need one, little clue, one hint to send me on my way.”
Out of the corner of his eye, Chad catches a picture of a disheveled looking Cairo in one of the newsletters. Chad quickly picks up the newsletter from the pile and reads the details of the article. It’s a story about Cairo and Biohazard’s arrest two years ago at a secret government compound in New Mexico. They were arrested after breaching the perimeter of the top-secret, maximum-security compound and were charged with treason. Chad carefully folds the newsletter and stuffs it into his pocket. Chad now begins the arduous task of putting everything back into its proper place before leaving the room.
Brian Kentwood: “In addition to this insane, perhaps even suicidal antagonism of Pakistan, Obama has also pledged to continue funding billions of taxpayer dollars for Israel's genocidal foreign policy. George W. Bush, the genocidal war criminal and corporate puppet has left office, replaced by Barack Obama, the corporate puppet and genocidal war criminal. The only difference is the order of the words, my friends. The perpetual decadence and decay in our nation's capitol shows no signs of stopping or even slowing down. World War III began with the 9/11 inside job and the declared War on Terror and it has continued with the American-Zionist occupation of the Middle East and the collapse of the world economy.”
Having finished putting everything away in the study, Chad checks himself in the lavatory mirror. Chad wipes the sweat from the brow, combs his carefully coiffed hair back into place, and dispenses of the booger that was hanging from his nose.
Brian Kentwood: “Remember, my friends, when we lie to the government we go to jail. When the government lies to us we go to war. Bernie Madoff stole $50 billion and he is rightfully facing a life sentence in federal prison. As it turns out he should have been a politician. Obama and his bailout buddies stole more than $700 billion and he's the new president. This president's idea of relief for the working class is to bailout corporations that outsource jobs and reward the banks that scheme to sabotage our economy, all the while maintaining a suicidal, homicidal and genocidal foreign policy. The 9/11 cover up will continue. Both parties in Congress will continue to approve funding for the illegal occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.”
Evans slyly slips into his seat in the audience, careful not to disturb anyone or appear conspicuous. In fact Chad is so smooth that nobody in the audience suspects a thing. It’s like he never left at all.
Brian Kentwood: “Both parties will continue to support the war on our civil liberties. Over the last two years the Democratic majority in both houses of Congress refused to impeach the tyrants Bush and Cheney. Now an even greater Democratic majority will rubber stamp Obama's tyrannical agenda, including his mandatory civil service plan. We must fight vigilantly and vigorously for our rights, my friends. If we surrender then these men and women in designer pantsuits will crush us like bugs under their cloven hooves. We are all in God's hands and we are slaves to no man. Infiltrate and annihilate the system! God bless you, my friends!"
The entire audience rises to their feet and explodes with applause, cheers and whistles for Kentwood’s speech. Kentwood graciously soaks in the adulation for a few moments before departing the podium. Ted Wilkins takes the podium, congratulates Kentwood for his speech and thanks him, and informs everyone that there will be an hour-long intermission for lunch and mingling. Wilkins and Kentwood are engrossed in conversation when Evans approaches them.
Chad Evans: “Gentlemen, I’m sorry to say that I must check out early. I received a call on some urgent business and I have to get back home.”
Wilkins and Kentwood are visibly disappointed to hear that Evans is leaving. Wilkins and Kentwood express their regret that Evans will not be able to attend the remainder of the conference, but of course they understand his reason for departing early.
Chad Evans: “Thank you for understanding, gentlemen, and thank you for having me. Thank you for everything that you’ve done, all the work that you do for this country and the entire world. We all owe you a debt of gratitude. Mr. Kentwood, I have to tell you that your speech was riveting and powerful. It hit me right here in my heart, then here in my gut, and finally right here in my brain. Great job, sir. It was my distinct honor and privilege to witness such a momentous event live in person.”
Both Wilkins and Kentwood take turns blushing and gushing at Chad’s gracious remarks. Chad shakes hands with both men and then parts ways with them. Evans stops before exiting the conference room and gazes back at the portrait of Cairo. Evans knows what he must now do. He must take a trip to New Mexico. It’s his only hope of finding his friend. Evans walks out of the conference room and makes his way back to the front entrance of the cottage. Chad grabs his jacket and pinches Pam’s ass on his way out the door. Pam does not object to Chad's brash advances, in fact she's quite flattered. Once outside Chad climbs into the Land Rover and drives off down that long, winter trail in the New Hampshire woods.
The Network's meeting place is located at a cottage deep in the frozen woods of rural New Hampshire, tucked away from the mainstream. It’s not an easy place to find, especially at this time of year, and it's certainly not an easy terrain to navigate.
