Damn he was really feeling the rush! He went toe to toe against some of the best and made a good showing for himself. He didn't win but sure gained some valuable experience. Even now a few days removed from that match and getting ready for his next one he could still feel the excitement burning inside his very being. He knew that he was on the right path and that his career here in the WCF would be a good one. Of course he knew that this wasn't his first time here. He knew that somehow he had been here before as the Night Rider. How could he have done that and still lived the life he had led? It was still all a mystery to him. He had his own memories as Johnny Blaze and then had the memories from the other life. Although they were still incomplete and all he had were glimpses of things that were done, things that terrified him to the bone. At first he thought they were just nightmares until he realized they were real when the demon looked into a bloody mirror and Johnny saw the reflection that stared back at him.
It was all so confusing. He didn't understand how it could be possible but it had been. He knew the truth but had no ideal how it had happened. Somehow he had lived two lives simultaneously. He stood up and walked over to the coffee pot to pour another cup. He added a little whiskey to it and sat back down. He was excited about getting the opportunity to take on FPV for the WCF Television Title at the next Slam. It will be interesting to see how the two of them measure up against each other. FPV was a wily veteran who has been a champion on many occasions. Some may look at losing championships as a bad thing but you have to win one to lose it. How many go their whole careers and never win a championship? A hell of a lot more than those that do. That's for sure. That alone says something about his opponent.
Something came to him then. What if this Night Rider took over right in the middle of a match? How would an opponent prepare for that? One minute your facing Johnny Blaze and the next the monster Night Rider. It was really kind of funny. He couldn't be certain when the monster would take full control of him and do his will. Evidently the monster had some skill in the ring to win the tag team championship 3 times with 3 different partners. There was another singles title in there somewhere also but Johnny forgot what it was. It didn't matter because the monster frightened him. Period! If it were set free to do what it really wanted to do his opponents would all be sacrificial lambs sent out to be slaughtered. Blood would flow freely during every match. No one would want to face him again. He was thankful for what little control he did have.
He looked at his watch. It was a Kolex. Looked just like a Rolex except without the fine stones. His had tiny river pebbles in it instead. Anyway, he couldn't believe it was almost time already. He sure wasn't ready for this shit so early in the morning. No one should have to go out before 11am at the earliest. Why couldn't businesses stay open later for those who slept in late. They would make more money in the long run. Only the bars and restaurants were smart enough to do that. Oh well, he better get ready.
Night Rider: You're not going to that interview.
From out of nowhere the voice came to him as clear as day. Still he had to ask.
Johnny Blaze: What?
Night Rider: You are not going to that interview.
Johnny Blaze: But, Hank Brown.
Night Rider: Fuck Hank Brown! You are not going.
Johnny Blaze: Why not?
Night Rider: All he is going to do is ask you how you feel about your match and this and that. It's always the same old shit. Fuck him. You are going after the Television Championship. How the hell are you supposed to feel about it? He always was a dumb ass.
Johnny Blaze: And what are we going to do instead?
Night Rider: You and I are going to sit down and study a few matches of FPV's so you can see what makes him tick. I am going to take you under my guidance and lead you straight to the top. Now let's hit those matches then I will take you somewhere special.
Johnny Blaze: Oh boy! I hope it's Dairy Queen. I want Ice Cream. Come on. Let's go.
For the next few hours or six they studied every match they could find involving FPV. From his early solo days and his teaming with Roy Speede. They watched it all and Night Rider drilled it into his mind every move and counter move FPV would make. Until Johnny Blaze could almost tell what he was going to do before he did it. It went on and on as the hands on his watch went around and round. Until Finally Night Rider decided he had seen it all enough times.
Without knowing why Johnny Blaze grabbed his keys off of the table and headed out the door. Before he knew it he was in the rented Ford Fusion and heading down the road. He had no ideal where Night Rider was taking him. All he did was work the controls and hope for the best. Although he was pretty sure they were not going for ice cream. After going through what seemed like a maze of streets they came to stop in front of a huge iron gate with a winding gravel road extending off from it surrounded on either side by a thick forest.
Johnny Blaze got out of the car and stood in front of the gate like he was in a trance. He waved his hands over his head and said some strange words about angels of death. The gate opened before him. Instead of getting back into the car and moving on he began to walk down the gravel road. He wasn't sure if it was him or what it was but it seemed to get darker with every step he took. Even the light shining down from the moons glow seemed to diminish until it was gone completely. Still he walked on.
Johnny Blaze: Why the hell didn't I take the car? Why did we have to walk?
Night Rider: Hell I don't know. You're the one who started walking. I figured you needed the exercise. Are you tired? I'm not! We are almost there.
It grew so dark that Johnny Blaze became disoriented. He turned around and around trying to figure out what way he had been going.
Night Rider: We are there.
Johnny Blaze: What do you mean we are there? We are nowhere!
Night Rider: Exactly!
Johnny Blaze: Exactly? What the hell do you mean by that?
Night Rider: Shut the fuck up and listen for a change and you will figure it out.
Johnny Blaze closed his eyes and cleared his mind. He reopened his eyes and images began to play out before him. FPV performing one vile act after another to an opponent. Using every dirty trick in the book and then some. FPV abusing officials and other wrestlers. The images continued to play out as Night Rider began to speak.
Night Rider: This man deserves no damn respect! There is no reason to like this guy even the least bit. He is a Melanoma on the WCF that needs to be removed. That MUST be removed! For someone who claims to be such a good guy his dirty antics go on and on. He may be a Grand Slam Champion but there's nothing grand about him.
The images went on for a while longer. He watched as FPV began fading from view. Suddenly the road appeared once more and he began to walk. He followed the road up to a sidewalk that led up to a huge castle that looked like something out of an old B movie. When he reached the huge wooden door it opened with a loud creaking noise. He stepped through the threshold and nearly pissed his pants when the door slammed shut behind him. He walked ahead cautiously, no longer being led by Night Rider. Thanks a lot huh. Bring me this far and take off. Blaze had heard that Night Rider was good at taking off. Still like a bad penny he always returns.
Right on cue Night Rider took control again and he began walking towards an old rickety spiral staircase that seemed to go up and on forever. There seemed to be no end to it. He began climbing, round and round higher and higher. On and on and on he went until he felt like his legs would fail him and send him crashing back down.
Night Rider: We're halfway there, keep going.
NOoooooooooooooooo..................
He began climbing again and the stairs fell like bread crumbs behind him. He climbed on and on, his legs screaming in agony with every step. Finally he stopped. He looked down and all he could see was a cascade of steps going on into infinity. He looked up and his heart dropped when he saw the same thing above him. He sure hoped he wouldn't have to climb them all. Suddenly he turned to his left and began walking.
A car horn startled him as he jumped backwards to keep from getting hit. A police car quickly sped behind it with it's siren blaring and lights blazing. He crossed the street and walked into the corner bar. He went straight up to the counter and ordered a Jack and Coke. He downed it quickly and ordered another. In his mind the questions began to roll. Where the hell am I and how did I get here? What the hell am I doing and how the hell do I get out of here?
Night Rider: Just let yourself go and don't worry about it. No one can hear me except for you so don't be freaking out. This will be good for you. Now go and have a seat at the table in the back.
He grabbed his drink and headed back to the table Night Rider was speaking about. He placed his drink on the table and sat down to wait. What or who was he waiting for? What the hell was going on? What happened to the stairs?
Night Rider: Shut the fuck up and don't worry about it. Have a drink and relax.
Relax? Right. How the hell was he supposed to relax? He reached into his pocket and took out his weed. After rolling a nice big fat one he fired it up. He didn't give a shit if anyone liked it or not. He needed to get high! It took a few nice long puffs but he finally had a good buzz going. A waitress with long fire red hair approached their table. She smiled as she looked at him but he didn't notice. He was too busy staring at the healthy rack about to burst through her blouse. She didn't seem to mind at all.
Velvet: My name is Velvet and I will be your waitress. I will be bringing you a refill in a sec. Is there anything else you need? Sir? Up here a moment.
Johnny Blaze: Uh, Oh. Uh yeah. Thank you.
Velvet: Would you like anything else? Perhaps a blowjob in the back?
Johnny Blaze: Uh, yeah that's fine.
Velvet: I'll be right back with your drink.
Night Rider: You should have taken her up on the blow job!
Johnny Blaze: Blow job? What did I miss? I was too busy staring and those titties. What a rack.
Suddenly he realized he had said that out loud and looked around. People were looking at him wondering who the hell he was talking to. He picked up his drink and finished it. Velvet returned with a fresh drink and smiled as he looked her in the eyes. Eyes that were a deep passionate blue. Eyes that seemed to hypnotize him.
Velvet: Sir?
Johnny Blaze: Huh? What?
Velvet: I asked if you would like me to bring you another one right away?
Johnny Blaze: Yes please. Keep them coming.
He watched as she turned and walked away this time. Damn she had such a sweet ass. He sure would like to........
Night Rider: You have to kill her!
What the fuck? Why? No! He refused to waste such a fine piece of ass like that. Not with at least sending her out with a smile on her face. How about that? Can she come and go at the same time?
Night Rider: I don't give a fuck how you do it. She has to die!
Velvet: Here is your drink sir. Can I get you anything else?
He looked at her and smiled, already picturing her naked body beneath him and hearing her screams of pleasure as he entered her.
Velvet: Sir? Can I get you anything else?
Johnny Blaze: Forgive me, I'm not myself this evening. How about having a drink with me?
Velvet: Perhaps in a few when my help gets here. I'll be back.
She sauntered away and he watched each pleasurable swish as she left him.
Hank Brown: Didn't we have an appointment? Are you going to tell me about this Night Rider business or what? What is going on?
Shit! Fuck! Where did he come from?
Johnny Blaze: I have no comment on Night Rider!
Hank Brown: That figures! Can you at least discuss your upcoming match against FPV for the Television Title?
Night Rider: See, I told you! You can kill him instead if you want.
Johnny Blaze: No, I can't do that.
Hank Brown: Can't do what?
Johnny Blaze: Nothing. I am honored to be facing Frank the Tank. The legend himself! They don't come much dumber than he is. I mean, the guy had it all going for him and was on top of the world. Then he just walks away from it all? Not very bright if you ask me. I'm sure FPV will give me one hell of a battle and I am ready for it.
Hank Brown: What do you think your chances of winning are? Do you worry about The Brotherhood interfering?
Johnny Blaze: About the same as his are. Fifty Fifty. I don't worry about anyone interfering. Let them come and I will knock them down! They don't scare me one bit. Why should they? They are nothing but a bunch of thugs who need a group to fight their battles for them. Just like Pantheon.
Hank Brown: What about Night Rider and the Angels of Death?
Johnny Blaze: The what? Never heard of them. I don't need a group to fight my battles. I'm sure Frank the tank doesn't either. I look for a fair but tough battle and all I can say is whoever wins will be the Television Champion. I will be doing everything in my power to make sure it is me. Now get the hell out of here because I have business to take care of.
Hank Brown: Going to kill her aren't you? Going to tear that ass up?
Johnny Blaze: That's none of your business.
Velvet: Is this person bothering you? I could have our bouncer throw him out.
Hank Brown: I'm leaving, I'm leaving.
Johnny smiled as Hank Brown turned and nearly tripped over his cameraman on the way out the door. Velvet winked at him and smiled as she sat down.
Velvet: I'm off for the rest of the night and vacation starts tomorrow. Take me home right now and fuck my brains out!
Johnny smiled as he took her by the hand and the two of them walked out the door. He hoped he wouldn't really have to kill her. He would much rather keep her.
