I knew I wasn't supposed to be there, but the sight was so unreal. I couldn't look away. This man... dressed as a prince... was fighting a mythical creature. An actual dragon.
From what I saw between rocks I was hiding behind, the fight was unlike anything I had ever imagined. There were no swords or shields involved, no bows and arrows, no knights armor as one would think there would be during a dragon fight. Just a defenseless unarmed man fighting a dragon.
At first I thought the fight would simply end in the death of one hopeless human being, and one well fed dragon. I could not have been more wrong. This man was faster than a cheetah, and apparently stronger than a mythological creature.
The dragon reared up ready to expel it's fiery wrath upon it's contender. As the flames shot from it's deadly mouth, the man used his amazing agility to simply dodge the dragon's flames. The dragon turned around in an angry manner preparing to use it's lethal tail blade. The dragon recklessly swiped it's tail at the man, but the man jumped over it in an astonishing feat of majesty. The dragon had clearly not had much experience fighting humans. It seemed confused while swiping it's pestilent tail and shooting it's noxious flame-breath.
The man had yet to strike, but I felt as if he was plotting the dragon's demise during his entire escapade of agile dodges. The dragon majestically stood on two feet and stretched it's wings as if it were an albatross in flight. I crouched behind the rocks in awe. This very may well have been the first time a human has ever witnessed a dragon, let alone a dragon fighting a man! The dragon was clearly taunting the man, although it did not know how to attack it's foe, it knew there was no way the man could single handedly defeat it while unarmed.
As the dragon was taunting the man, the man saw an opportunity arise. The opportunity for victory. The dragon stood on two feet with it's wings strewn out and head in the air ready to attack. The man started charging at the dragon and did the impossible. The man jumped in the air and grabbed the dragon by the chest and took the dragon down to the ground, back first.
The man got up and let out a bellowing victory roar as the dragon lay lifeless before him. I gasped and the man instantly turned to look at the rocks he once thought to be vacant. We made eye contact, and for an instant I was paralyzed. I could not believe what I had just seen. Clearly the dragon was not the being to fear in this situation. Once I realized what I had just seen, I ran as fast as my legs would allow, away from the scene of the fight back to my small home next to the river.
This happened months ago and I still fear for my life. I still lie awake in bed every single restless night thinking of the paralyzing stare that the man gave me once he realized I was behind the poor camouflage of the rocks.
I hope to god that no one will ever have to face that man in a fight. He bested a dragon, and he will no doubt come out on top if he had to face any other foe.
