As the sun creeps in through his penthouse window on the top floor of GemCo Towers the inside of his eyelids become red with the prospect of a new day. Gemini Battle stretches his body and reaches over his God-Sized bed only to come up with, not a fresh handful of tittie as he had become accustomed to… but mere mattress and comforter.
He looks over at the empty space in his bed and realizes that she’s gone. Every day he has to remember that he will no longer be waking next to his beloved Invidia as she had jumped dimensions to chase after the one thing that they had agreed to find during their stay on Earth. But life had changed, as had his priorities.
Gemini Battle was a Capuan… but he no longer felt like one. He felt things that no Capuan should ever feel. He felt compassion, and fear… and love. It was sickening but he knew it to be true. The human will had overpowered him. He no longer felt the insatiable hunger that Gula had never quenched.
He… was… human...
The most noteworthy realization was the pain that he felt every time he realized that Invidia wasn’t going to come back, and even if she did that their relationship was never going to be the same. And there wasn’t a single person in the world that could understand the struggles and the turmoil he was going through. Not in this world or any other world.
What he was undergoing was unprecedented. Capuans for millennia had been taking over human vessels and drying out their innards only to move onto the next. Gemini too had done so, bouncing from Hyena to Grayson to Jordan Wolfram and back to Grayson. Then there was that fated day where Grayson escaped…
Grayson. He may be the only one that understands, even if he didn’t realize it. Fortunately for Gemini he had Grayson locked away in a room just across the hallway. But he didn’t want to go empty handed. So he made a cup of coffee and spiked it with a little pick-me up. It was going to take a while to get Grayson to open up to him, but Gemini needed him more than ever now. It was just a few months ago when Gemini couldn’t live physically without him… now their relationship seems so much deeper than that.
He walked across the hallway and opened up the prison… I mean bedroom door. The vernacular was going to have to be the first thing to change if this was going to work. Grayson Pierce lay on the concrete floor with nothing but a burlap sack covering his shit and piss covered clothes. His living space and conditions were going to have to be the second thing to change.
Gemini: Heeeeey Buddy…
Gemini said in his most pandering and least threatening voice. Grayson woke and scurried to his corner. The he remembered. He had genetically engineered a series of people to look like him to torture Pierce and keep him in line; the third thing that would have to change. So Grayson’s fear of him was warranted.
Gemini: It’s ok, dude. I’m not gonna hurt you. Here.
He reached into the bars and put the coffee on the floor. Grayson couldn’t resist. Like a starving dog he crawled to the drink and swallowed it down. He wiped his face and his eyes seemed to regain clarity.
Grayson: Fuck you…
Gemini: There it is.
Gemini put a serum to bring him back to his normal state. They were calling it Revitaserum, but it was just a working title. The Battle Station had been hard at work on new projects, including a reanimation project that may occur sooner than later, but Gemini was taking a step back from the Research and Development portion of the company and was focusing on the dub.
WCF was the most important thing to him, hands down. The Television title had given him a renewed vigor towards wrestling that he had lost last year around this time. Failure after failure tended to drain on a person and now he was seeing the greatest success of his WCF career. That is until Pantheon returned.
And with them so did all of the insecurities and uncertainties that haunted him from One to the Mexico incident. He had two options. He could turn tail and run. He could fall victim to the mass hysteria that the rest of the fed seemed to be undergoing or he could fight. He could prove to everyone that his World title Victory wasn’t a fluke, and his recent success isn’t because there’s not talent, but it’s because he’s been working harder than ever, and fighting harder than ever to get to where he is.
Fight
Or
Flight
And when push came to shove he always chose fight.
He smiled down on the man he felt could teach him to be human and smiled…
After some quality time with Grayson, Gemini felt that he had taken the necessary steps forward to begin repairing the horribly damaged relationship between the two men.
Men
He rarely considered himself one, but recently it seemed more appropriate than ever. And as he stepped into the main facility he finally felt mortal… and it made him feel more alive than ever.
Teddy Battle: Dad! Did you hear?
The giant man stumbled over to Gemini and seeing him only reminded him of his lost love. But he maintained his composure for his son as only a father could and hid the fact that he was dying on the inside. Teddy understood that his mother had left, and it didn’t seem to faze him all that much. He was as much human as Gemini, if not monstrous in size and more powerful than any human he had ever met. So with a heavy heart he turned to the man.
Teddy Battle: Ma asked me to take care of your wrestling hieroglyphics. We got an electronic message on the cellular telephone. It says that you’re going to face a smart guy and ‘fipuv’ for the Television Title this week. CONGRATULATIONS... YOU EARNED A TITLE MATCH!
There were so many things wrong with this statement Gemini couldn’t decide on where to begin. He snatched the phone out of the monster’s hand and read the email.
Gemini: Joe Smarts, eh?
He scrounged his thought banks for some information on the young upstart.
Gemini: Poor dude. Stepping into the ring with FPV and me in a title match doesn’t bode well for the guy. But I gotta give him credit for even accepting this mach. The guy’s got courage. He’s truly been getting better each and every week. He lasted nearly an hour in War and even managed to chalk up an elimination to his name.
But there’s more to making a name for oneself than just showing up, barely. You’ve got to bring your ‘A’ Game every time. Especially when stepping into the ring with two former World Champions and trying to dethrone one of them as the Television Champion. I don’t know if he can do that. He hasn’t been all that successful in the ring yet.
It’s almost as if Seth forgot to book him and threw a dart at the board and then hit the World Title match, then shot again and when he landed on the TV title match he shrugged and was like ‘eh, I guess this is ok, now where’s Betty Adams?’ and then he grabbed a bottle of Jameson then fell asleep in a puddle of his own vomit and urine.
But FPV… now THERE’S a worthy competitor. Last week I was pissed when I didn’t have a real match. Seth though I wanted the week off after lasting over 3 hours in war on top of the 40+ minute match I had with Teddy Blaze to start the show. And even though that night didn’t end precisely how I wanted I still got my opportunity to headline One two years in a row when he named me number one contender at Helloween. And this week I got what I wanted as well.
But Francis had to earn this shot. The final 4 men at War were me, Omega, flash and Bishop and even though Frank has the distinction of handing the leader of the Brotherhood his first singles defeat, I was the first man to pin him. Kevin Bishop is the future of the WCF, and he still has a lot to grow as shown with his interactions between two stud veterans such as Frank and myself.
But we can’t count out the newcomer… but we can TAKE him out. And unfortunately this week may have to come to that because Frank Patrick Venable is a viable threat to take my title, perhaps the biggest threat that I have had to date. But seeing Frank reminds me of his brother, who was such a better person than he, and makes me wonder what the hell happened in Frank’s life to make him the way he is.
And it’s the same old story that we’ve all heard. Frank allowed himself to get too close to some bad people and at the end of the day it came back to bite him in the ass. Nobody understands this more than I do. I teamed up with Thomas Bates and Deuce Murdock and when I needed them most Deuce up and got killed and Bates went off and failed at being a politician.
Frank got mad and turned his back on the fans when he had people turn their backs on him.
I embraced the one thing that makes you relevant in this business. When I had men and women who claimed I was not only their ally, but their friends turn their back on me when I needed them most I embraced the outpour of support from the fans.
Because empathy is truly what makes us human, now isn’t it. The ability not only to understand what one is going through, but to be able to feel what others must feel when they are hurt, or feel joyous, or betrayed. You have to understand what was going on through your defector’s demented mind and find a way to cope.
In situations like these you have two choices…
You can fight. You can step up and continue being the man you were, and even more than that, you can try to be a better man than that. You can grow and become stronger…
Or you can run like a chicken shit.
You flew the coop, didn’t you Frank. Your deluded mind thinks that you did the right thing, but we all know that at the end of the day you ran away from your fears and insecurities because being a bad guy was easier than dealing with the pain. And that’s fine… I can EMPATHIZE with you, Frank. But we are professional wrestlers and not just that… we are the BEST professional wrestlers in the world. So we fight our problems out, and that’s what I intend on doing this week at Slam.
He looks at his son who is scrambling to take notes when Gemini puts his hand on the pad and paper stopping him. Teddy looks up with a sincere look of joviality and wonder in his eyes as he stares into the eyes of his father.
Gemini: Only take note of this…This week I step into the ring with Joe Smarts and Frank Venable to defend MY Television Title, Teddy. The War is over but the next set of battles is set to begin. I begin to pave my way towards the World Title this week, and these two men are just the type of men you want to fight. These two men want to win more than anything else in the world. Joe wants to prove that he can hang with the big boys, and Frank wants to prove that he is STILL a big boy, but only one of us can prevail, and that person is going to be the one with the PASSION to do so.
Not a single person in the fed has more passion than I…
