Did anything matter? Mikey was a top guy in the WCF he had gone on winning streaks where he beat the who’s who of the WCF locker room. He had beat former world champions, he had beat Hall of Famers, he had be a prolific United States champion.
He should have climbed the card. The main event was calling him but the WCF chose others instead of him. They chose the Wade Moors, they chose the Joey Flash’s of the world. Jayson Price was given opportunities that Mikey eXtreme did not get. Logan was gifted opportunities that Mikey deserved.
Mikey sat back waiting for his turn, for his rise to stardom. He sat back while everyone else was allowed to pass him by. He sat back making the United States championship one of the premiere belts in all of wrestling, how? Because he is the greatest competitor in wrestling today. He elevated that belt to places it had not been in years. He brought everyone’s eyes to that strap, because they were in awe of who Mikey was. They were in awe of what Mikey brings to that ring each and every week.
But the WCF allowed everyone to pass Mikey. They handpicked their next “Guy.” Mikey did not fit those spots. Mikey did not fit them because he wasn’t going to let anyone tell him what to do. He did not care for any rules or any backstage politics. He showed up to do business and that was all that mattered. He did all of his business in the confines of that squared circle. He made people look better than they ever could on their own, and Mikey always came out on top when he needed to.
Mikey was the best thing the WCF had ever had, but they chose to waste him. They chose to bury him week after week. Putting him up against the likes of Psychopomp, Adrian Archer, Henry Spearman, etc. Each week Mikey was paired up with the bottom dwelling curtain jerks that filled the company. Why? Because the WCF didn’t want Mikey anywhere near that world championship because he wasn’t good publicity for the business. He wasn’t the face that the WCF wanted attached to it, because, let’s face it, because he was a little bit crazy.
But, each and every week Mikey still stepped into that ring. He still made his way down that ramp and he still put on the best shows that the WCF had ever seen. He sold out buildings, he sold pay per views, he was single handedly the life force of the WCF.
Everybody left the WCF. Mexico left a bad taste in many mouths, but Mikey stuck around. Surely, he would be rewarded for his loyalty. Surely, not jumping ship to the uprising UCI would earn him some kind of brownie points, right?
No.
Instead Mikey was offered nothing. They put him in a match for the hardcore championship which just slipped away from him. Just barely out of his reach. But, that was fine. Mikey had bigger ideas. Mikey wanted to be the biggest star, he wanted the biggest locker room, he wanted the nicest cars, he wanted everything.
But, nothing came. Mikey was put into matches where he had to carry teams. He was put into random tag team matches that did nothing for his career. He even formed one of the most dynamic tag teams the WCF had ever seen, but even they couldn’t get booked. Even they couldn’t earn a title shot.
Why? Because the WCF has something against Mikey eXtreme. The WCF cannot stand Mikey eXtreme, but that’s fine because Mikey eXtreme can’t stand the WCF. Mikey eXtreme can’t stand a company that could waste one of it’s best talents because of backstage politics. Mikey can’t stand a company that gives out title shots to guys that would otherwise leave, to guys that don’t deserve that spot.
Mikey can’t stand a lot of the WCF, but here he is, getting ready for one of the biggest matches of the year. There he is sizing up the entire roster, handpicking the best guys out to make an example of. There he sits setting his sights on the absolute bests in two federations, there he is setting his sights on the world title shot at One.
Mikey eXtreme was up against the world. He had only a few in his corner, only a few that cared about him at all and he was not going to let them down. He did not care about what the fans thought, or what they wanted because they had no say in anything. They didn’t matter to the WCF, they didn’t matter to anyone that was selecting who moves up the card and who doesn’t. So, they did not matter to Mikey.
So, who did matter to Mikey? That list was far less than those that did not. There were only around two names on that list. Vidalia and Freakshow. They had been by Mikey’s side each and every week. Freakshow had been there for almost as long as Mikey had called the WCF home and Mikey knew that they would be there for quite some time. Mikey knew that they would be there until the end.
And hopefully, this was not the end. Hopefully this was just the beginning.
Mikey sat in front of the WCF cameras, he was alone. Just him and a camera. Nobody manning it, nobody to keep watch. Mikey had ordered them out of the room as he was fuming. He was incensed.
mikey extreme: One man. He’s one fucking man.
Mikey stares deeply into the camera. He’s breathing heavily, as he tries to hold his anger deep inside.
mikey extreme: And he thinks that HE can intimidate me? He thinks that just because he is Joey Flash, the former world champion, the former television champion, the former NEXT BIG THING, that I’m going to bow down before him? That I’m going to be scared?
Mikey begins to laugh.
mikey extreme: He thinks that we give a shit how he sat on the sidelines for the past few months? That his anger at the WCF is something that’s important? He thinks that returning at WAR, at the pay per view event that I am going to win, that if he comes back and wins it that he will be some kind of living legend?
Here’s the deal, Joe.
You left. You ran away. You CHOSE to not be here. Now you think that it’s your time once again? Think again, because when I seen you take to that stage last week, you know what I did? I turned the monitor off. I walked out of my locker room, and I left the arena.
What on earth were you going to say that was going to interest me, Joe? What was it that you could say that would interest me at all?
Absolutely nothing.
You think because you were gone for so long that suddenly you’ll be relevant the moment you return? Do you think that anyone actually cares about you? I’m not going to lie, I had forgot all about you. Joey Flash, that kid from the Boogie Down Bronx that took the WCF by storm what feels like decades ago.
Well, Joe, I’m ready to boogie. I’m ready to show you where you actually stand against this WCF roster, and it’s squarely below me.
You come back here trying to start some kind of War, trying to send shockwaves all over the place. Trying to wow the new guys, but you’re still the guy that ran the fuck away. You’re still the guy that seen everyone else leaving and followed suit. You’re nothing special, Joe, you’re average at best.
But, you think that for some reason you’re a God? You sat on the sidelines or how long? Nobody even noticed the great Joey Flash was gone. Nobody batted an eye, because you were never who you thought you were. You were never the GOAT.
You got hot, and you rode it out.
But, then you watched. You watched the WCF move on. You watched new guys come in and take what you feel like is yours. You watched as your memory was so faded that even the mention of your name wouldn’t garner any kind of reaction and it drove you crazy.
You can’t stand that you’re not the center of attention. You can’t stand that you’re not “the man.” But, that’s understandable. You need that attention, you need someone to pat you on your back because you know deep down that you’re nothing. That you’re weak.
I don’t care what you’ve done, where you’ve been, or where you haven’t been. We’ll meet in that ring at War, and I’ll show you where I’ve been. I’ll show you what you’ve been missing. What you think you know about me, it’s all different. It’s all new.
We met one time inside that WCF ring. You got the best of me that night, but you know that was a lucky effort. Hell, I was forced to team with Katherine Phoenix for christ’s sake. She was no help. She didn’t do anything in that match. I took on two people and I fell short.
But I followed that loss up with a United States championship victory the following week. I wasn’t going to let an insignificant loss weigh me down, Joe. I wasn’t going to allow someone who did not deserve to be on my level bring me down.
All I keep hearing about is how WAR is in Joey Flash’s backyard. War is in the Garden. This is my backyard Joey. This is my house. Mikey eXtreme is the King of New York. Those Brooklyn streets are tough, Joey.
No matter what you do, no matter what you’ve done. New York City is mine. I am what you wish you were, and nothing will change that. Nothing will make you better than me. Nothing will take this city from me, Joey. Definitely not you.
And just like the Bronx, Joey, you’ll be burnin’.
You can put down the WCF roster all you want. The fact of the matter is you’re not here, you took your ball and you went home. You didn’t like it here, and now you want to return? Why? Because you think there are easy targets here? You want to try to boost that massive ego even more by beating guys that you claim are so far below you?
You’re a pussy, Joey.
Get ready for War because I promise you that I will take you out. I promise you that this is the RISE of MIKEY’S AMERICA.
Mikey gets up and walks past the camera. A few moments pass before a WCF crew member comes in the room to shut the cameras off.
The scene opens with Mikey sitting across from Hank Brown.
hank brown: Today, I am joined by none other than the former three time WCF United States Champion, Mikey eXtreme.
Mikey shoots Hank a cold stare and Hank continues to talk.
hank brown: This is a very big match for you. Not only is this your first ever War appearance, but you have the last entrance into the big match.
mikey extreme: Because, I earned that spot. Hank.
hank brown: Well, to be fair, Spearman kind of gifted it to you when he hit you with the superkick.
Mikey’s blood begins to boil, he is already upset but Hank is adding fuel to the fire.
mikey extreme: I earned that spot, Hank, by DEFEATING Henry Spearman. I earned my position in WAR, just like I will EARN my world title shot by winning at War.
Mikey stares at Hank waiting for his next question or remark.
hank brown: This is a big match indeed, with some of the biggest stars of WCF past making their returns.
mikey extreme: Flash?
hank brown: Among others.
mikey extreme: There are others?
hank brown: You didn’t see the FPV promos stating that he would enter this year’s War?
mikey extreme: Uh, wait. Who?
hank brown: Frank Patrick Venable. The man is a former World Champion. He’s held the United States championship, the People’s championship, the tag team championship. He is a very credible wrestler and a WCF legend.
Mikey yawns.
hank brown: This isn’t a competitor that you should take lightly, Mikey. He’s not just a fan favorite but he can really work in that ring. He’s a bonafide..
Mikey cuts him off.
mikey extreme: He’s nothing to me, Hank. Absolutely nothing. Because while I’m here each and every week putting my body on the line. Showing everyone why I am the greatest competitor in all of wrestling, this guy watches.
He waits.
The second there is a big match around the corner, look who shows up. The same thing can be said about Jeff Purse, Jay Omega.. You know what?
Mikey gets up, pulling off the mic that he is wearing.
mikey extreme: I don’t need this shit. The WCF has wasted me long enough.
He drops the parts as he walks off the screen. Hank is in panic mode as he tries to figure out what is happening and how to transition to a positive. Instead, he just sits there looking confused.
The scene ends.
