No philosophical rant today.
Our scene opens in an abandoned warehouse. A few muffled thuds can be heard coming from somewhere in the room. The air is dark and musty, but the camera zooms in closer to try and get a look at the individual standing in the middle of the giant concrete building. A punching bag is hanging from the top of the roof, and the chain it is hanging from is swinging mildly every now and then. Light creeps in enough through one of the windows near the roof for us to be able to make out the figure standing, punching the bag. The man is Skyler Striker, dressed in his scarred crimson pants and his white shirt. Skyler continues exercising as he speaks.
SS: It took me a while to get back around to bothering to film me training. But thanks for the note, Creeps. I’ll make sure to do a special training montage for you whenever I face you. Rocky-style. So here’s your wrestling shoot for shoot.
A particularly violent kick sees Skyler break open the punching bag, which starts pouring sand onto the floor.
SS: Let’s do this debate style. You say that:
• I use WCF TV time to talk about meaningless drivel (my family).
• My family does not matter when you step into the ring with me.
• My focus should be on you, and not them.
SS: Well, Creeping Death, here’s why.
Point one – I don’t talk about wrestling every single moment I’m on the air because my view of wrestling is different to yours. I’m talking about wrestling too, CD. Just from a different perspective. So I’m gonna keep talking about my family.
Point two - I didn’t give myself the name the Ace of Hearts for nothing. It means something to me. I am the top – the Ace – of the people who put their hearts into this life. No-one - NO-ONE - has more passion inside a wrestling ring than I do. Not one fucking person. I live, breath and eat inside this ring. I walk, talk and think inside it. This ring IS my life. And so when I say I live in the ring, then I bring my life – which includes my family – with me. Think about it from two sides, Death. You may be right. My family may be insignificant. But I prefer to stick to my side of the argument.
My family is where my heart is, and consequently, if I have to bring my heart to the ring, then I bring them too. End of story. If it weren’t for Jade, I wouldn’t have been Hardcore Champion. Katie will also have her chance to prove her worth to you. But she doesn’t have to. Jade didn’t have to. I don’t have to talk about Jade, or Katie, or my home life, but if I want to keep succeeding inside this ring as World Champion, then I have to keep fighting with my heart, and not my muscles. And if I have to keep fighting with my heart, then I have to keep fighting with my family. It does not get any simpler than that.
Point three – my focus should be on you. believe me, CD. I’m focused. My family may be taking up your precious TV time so you can’t watch CSI, but in the ring, my mind is set on my opponent. And unfortunately, Creeps, this week it’s you. I have no intention of letting go of this World Title to anyone – not you, not Thunder, and not Cairo.
So when you get in that ring on Sunday, Creeping Death, I am going to put it to you straight.
I am going to beat the fucking shit out of you and there is nothing you can do about it.
I am Skyler Striker, WCF World Champion.
And I am the Ace of Hearts.
Skyler motions to attack the camera but does not and simply walks away.
