The Aftermath
(WAR RP 1)
WCF Television Champion Gemini Battle sits in the infirmary of the Rupp Arena watching the end of Slam and is more than pleased to watch as Thomas Bates gets a taste of his own medicine, takes a boot of his own and gets pinned by Psychopomp. After his spectacular and grueling match against ZMac earlier in the night as well as watching his arch-nemesis Thomas Bates get pinned in the Main Event leading up to his first Title Defense it feels like the night could not get better.
He was nursing a sore back, but nothing a god night’s sleep wouldn’t take care of. Invidia stood tall next to him, guarding the door because she could sense the envy that the roster had for Gemini and his raucous opportunities leading into War. The entire Roster was out to get him and he was ready to fight each and every one of them if that’s what it took.
And this week at War he would HAVE to fight each and every one of them if he intended on walking out as the winner. Last year he eliminated more people than anyone else in history, and that record may stand for a while, but there’s only so long he could hold onto such an accolade. Beating more people and never winning isn’t enough for him. This week he had the opportunity to do something that no one else had ever done before in the history of the WCF.
He had the opportunity to walk out of War with the Television Title, the Internet Title, the Title of King of all Media and the number one Contender for the World Title. As he scanned the list of entrants in the match not one of them scared him. Each of them presented a challenge of their own, but he didn’t feel the slightest tinge of anxiety about any of them.
Sarah Twilight, Jeff Purse and FPV are all amazing competitors but none of them have competed actively in the WCF for some time. This doesn’t diminish their abilities; in fact it makes them fresh. It give them the energy and stamina needed to step into the ring and outlast 40 other competitors, but only one thing can get you into prime wrestling condition and that’s going out there each and every week and putting on the match of your life each time.
Gemini fought in a Battle Royal, and then a triple Threat match, and tonight against ZMac in a hardcore match to defend his precious Television Title. Each match presented their own unique types of problems. Psychopomp and Jason O’Neal emerged victorious form the Battle Royal even in defeat. They hit the radar of the WCF Galaxy. They are living proof that even in defeat you can walk out of the ring with your head held high. The Magnificent Bastard Adrian Archer as well as his counterpart Damien Kaine left last week looking as strong as ever as they pushed the former World Champion to the edge and left with the same result.
ZMac this week doesn’t walk out looking like the loser he is, he walks out and focusses on winning War as he should, as we all should. Each of these men has ONE thing in common, and that’s looking like fucking GOLD after stepping into the ring with Gemini. That’s what Gemini brings to the table; he brings the very best out of everybody that he steps into the ring with. It’s no surprise that every time he loses that the person who beat him is considered to have had the greatest promo of the week.
It’s a challenge being so competitive and fighting so hard and it’s even harder knowing that every time everyone sees your name next to theirs on a card that they know that they have to bring their very best. They know that they have to bring their A game- NO, they have to bring BETTER THAN their A Game to defeat you and that’s what Gemini faces every week. He’s been lining up all the challenges and knocking them all down. There’s nothing that could stop him. He’s riding a wave of momentum towards War and when the time comes for him to step into the ring with the rest of the roster he will happily dispose of them one-by-one if that’s what it takes because he’s not fucking done yet.
He’s…
Invidia: WHAT THE FUCK!?!?
Gemini left his trance and looked at the screen. His feeling of confidence and pride quickly diminished and was replaced by a look of disgust and frustration. He looked and listened as Former WCF Champion and interminable thorn in Gemini’s side, Joey Flash entered the ring and spouted his normal bullshit about being the best.
Gemini felt the spit on his face. He felt his shoulders on the mat. He felt the sharp pain of defeat in his soul. He felt himself dig deeper and deeper into depression and that never ceasing feeling of thinking that he just wasn’t good enough.
No one made Gemini feel the way Joey did. He was disgusted with Joey, but was more disgusted by his reaction to the man’s return. He felt sick with fear and disgusted with disgust. He hated Joey flash but the reason why he hated him was more revolting.
He hated Joey because he couldn’t BEAT Joey. He was the one man on the entire roster that he had faced on his own and not beaten. Even Thomas Bates got pinned by Gemini, a feat that Joey Flash was never able to accomplish, yet Joey remained a thorn in his side. He remained in his brain as the one who got away and when Joey left after the Mexico Incident, presumably abducted, probed and left to die by aliens, he thought he would never get the chance for redemption. Now that he’s back he’s not sure he wants the chance.
Gemini: When I won the World Title at Ultimate Showdown I was proud. I knew I had done something special. I defeated 7 other wrestlers and walked out with the World Title. But it wasn’t quite as satisfying as I had hoped.
Invidia stepped closer, hardly able to hear over the deafening crowd in Kentucky and the anger that overwhelmed the entire fiber of her being. She became red with rage and he fists clenched exposing the whites underneath as she pounded on the table as if trying to tell the masses outside to shut the fuck up to no avail.
Gemini: After Mexico things changed here in the WCF. I took some time off, but I never truly left. I just needed to take a break. I was busy, I had shit going on that I needed to handle. But I watched as the company grew stronger and stronger, and when push came to shove I came back and took the WCF by storm. I brought everything I had to the Ultimate Showdown and came out victorious.
But still, in the back of my mind something was missing. BeachKrew was gone, and good riddens to them. But the victory would have been so much sweeter if it was over Jared Holmes, and Andre Aquarius, and Wade Moor. You spend so much time building up relationships, even if they’re terrible, with people that you need that antagonist to make your victories more meaningful.
I had no antagonist, and don’t get me wrong, Kevin Bishop, and Teddy Blaze; ZMac and Bates among the rest are outstanding wrestlers, and defeating all of them was no easy task. But something was missing. It was so satisfying to defeat both Wade Moor and Steve Orbit, two men that seemed like unpassable obstacles in my path towards glory. That victory was my proudest up Ultimate Showdown.
And how quickly the tide turned after that fateful night at Explosion. Joey Flash and Gemini Battle faced off against each other AGAIN. Just as they did so many times before. But this time it was going to be different, right? This time I was going to win and become the World Champ. I had my heart set on it… I had my MIND set on it.
And in an instant it was all gone. Joey Flash hit me with that ridiculous finisher of his, I hit the ceiling, and I hit the floor with the same ferocity. At the end of the day I was left staring at the lights not only wondering what I was doing with my life, but where I was going to go in the WCF. I had reached my pinnacle, I thought. I had reached as high as I was going to go.
I’m not ZMac. I’m not content at being the top middle of the card act. I didn’t want to be relocated to the guy that was the benchmark of the WCF. I didn’t want to be the guy that ‘if you could beat me you could move up to the main event.’ I wanted to BE the main event. I wanted to be the best in the WCF.
I could see how there were strength in numbers and my lone wolf status wasn’t going to be very helpful in the upcoming War that was clearly headed our way. I teamed up with Bonnie, and Andre, and DeMarcus and we started a Rebellution! We fought everyone that stood in our path and we won. We won the tag titles, and I was on my way to becoming the 2 time Trios Cup winner when shit hit the fan. The world as we knew it was no more. Logan had defeated Flash by cashing in his Final Destination Briefcase and he bitched and moaned so much that the world ended.
I blame Joey Flash for ruining what we had here in the WCF, but I also must give Joey flash a thank you for helping me rebuild my empire. If it wasn’t for the nuclear explosion that occurred in the WCF I wouldn’t have realized my true potential. And now that he’s back I can finally do the one thing that evaded me for 2 years. I defeated him in tag matches, but whenever it was Joey Flash and Gemini Battle one on one it was always me who came out the lesser man.
He looked at the monitor as Joey Flash finished his rant, not even bothering to mention Gemini. He couldn’t lie… it stung a little bit. Sweat dripped from his eyebrow and onto his hand but he could hardy feel it. The tiles walls seemed to close in on him as he grabbed Invidia by the hand.
Gemini: Come on… let’s go.
Invidia: Where are we going?
Gemini: OUT. Let’s fucking go, ya’ cunt!
Flash was rubbing off on him already.
The Mean Streets of Kentucky
Gemini bashes through the closed laminate door and enters the dirty carpeted hallway of the arena. He takes a deep breath looking at the raucous crowd all desperate to get out before the rush, not realizing that it’s too fucking late for that. He grabs Invidia by the hand and pulls her down the hallway, bumping into people, and barging through groups of slowpokes. He is usually a patient man. He hates crowds, especially ones like this. He immediately regrets the decision as local talents accost him.
Local Talent 1: Hey Gem, your boy Flash is back. Whatcha gonna do, brotha?
Ignore the fucker, he thinks. I’ll kill him later, he reminds himself.
Local Talent 2: Ya fuccin’ cunt.
He turns but Invidia passes by barging through and pulling Gemini behind her. He thanks her quietly knowing that a moment longer would have led to the murder of Local Talent 2 and even worse a load of paperwork that he didn’t feel like completing.
Local Talent 3: Don’t worry, he didn’t even mention you.
Gemini: THAT’S IT!
Gemini turns his head and grabs the young wrestler by the throat. Invidia tries to stop him but even she can’t relinquish the grasp Gemini has on the unfortunate soul’s Adam’s apple.
Gemini: When did it become OK to talk to me? Did I ever give you permission to use my name let alone talk directly TO me?
He dropped the man who grasped at the marks around his throat and others generally kept quiet at least while Gemini was within hearing distance. He looks around at the group of stunned onlookers and doesn’t break character. This frustration was real. His anger was real. He desire to rip the throats out of every single person in the hallway was real. He had to get the fuck out.
Gemini: See what that mother fucker does? He brings the shit out of people. He brings the worst out of everyone he has contact with. We could not be more fucking different.
They get to the exit and they storm past the slew of reporters hanging out in the parking lot.
Reporter: Gemini, would you like to talk about the return of Joey Flash. How does that make you FEEL!?!?
Gemini: FUCKING DANDY! Quote me.
He could get his car later, he decides. The trip through the parking lot was short and when he finally passes the exit he feels grateful that the security guard pretty much ignores him. Stepping out into the streets of Kentucky he takes in the sights as he always does. The town they find themselves in is like out of a movie, with small shops down one side and farms on the other. Each street they walked past had rows of houses perfectly placed and immaculately kempt.
The people, however, were just as stereotypical as the landscape. They stared at Gemini and Invidia like they were looking at monsters. To be fair, they WERE monsters but it wasn’t like walking around the streets of New York where unless you’re naked people won’t take a second look at you, and only if you’re attractive will people even take a third look after that.
Invidia: Not like home, huh?
She said seeming to read his mind, and it made him smile.
Gemini: No… not like home at all. But next week at War we WILL be home. Madison Square Garden, the place where I won the Grand Slam in my last fed and the place where I will win the Grand Slam in the WCF as well. But I’m not the only one with home-field advantage.
Hometown hero Cliff of Doom grew up watching wrestling at Madison Square Garden. He watched as Superman Jimmy Hooka jumped off the steel cage on top of Dom Norocco. The first time anyone has ever done a spot like that. And Cliff of Doom got into the WCF by watching his boy Wolf fail in his first venture at the match. Poor kid, living in this world of insecurity and mistrust. He’s losing it all.
He’s losing everything that made him unique in an effort to try to become something he’s not. He’s not too old to start; he’s too fragile, emotionally and physically. He can’t handle the stress that comes with travelling to show to show on airplanes, boats, or cars. But worst of all, he’s not out there 5 nights a week competing like I am. He goes back and teaches asshole kids how to be assholes and then comes out and makes assholes of the jobbers that he faces off against.
But this is his opportunity to shine. This could be the first name that he makes for himself. Undefeated thus far, but this week at War he will get pinned. Which is no surprise. Many of us are going to get pinned… but Cliff of Doom is going to get pinned for the first time. It’s going to break him. The only thing keeping his wife on his dick is the fact that he’s a winner but when he goes home having to say that he not only failed, but failed in miserable fashion he’s going to give up, and so is she. Just like his idol Wolf did when he faced adversity… and just like Wolf’s idol Bernard Core did after he lost to Mikey Extreme.
When you look up to failures you’re only going to become one yourself. Your poor future child, if your wife doesn’t leave you for being a loser, is destined for failure. But he will do better than, some other Hometown Heroes… JNJ and Steven Singh to name a few.
Those two just don’t truly get what it takes yet. They are here and they’re new, but that doesn’t count them out. Fact of the matter is that chances are that someone new will win the whole thing. Unfortunately, these two don’t stand a chance. It will be interesting to see what they have to say, to see what they have to pull out.
War often times brings out the best in people. People are more unique and more creative than any other time. They write songs, they act out fantasies, they go on drug trips; they tell their origins and talk to dead relatives about how they can succeed. Often times they suffer horrible losses and valiantly fight through it. It’s truly the most entertaining time of the year, and leading into ONE it’s even more exciting.
So watching guys like Alex Winterz and Jordan Ciserano and what they have to bring to the table, what kind of creative masterpieces they will undoubtedly bring forth is truly interesting. They’ve impressed in their short time here, especially Ciserano as he defeated Alpine and made him a mess of humanity heading into Revenge when he got that ever evasive title match that he always wanted. Ciserano broke Brent Alpine, and in the grand scheme of things was the reason that Bates was so easy to dispose of him. It’s Ciserano’s fault I lost my title… maybe I should teach him a lesson? Regardless, the chance that either of these two men winning War is unlikely. They can put forth a viable attempt at victory, but it is still yet to be seen.
They turn the corner and the storefronts are gone. They are now surrounded by acres and acres of farmland. Corn fields border the streets as far as they eye can see. The moonlight is the only things lighting their path as they walk the desolate road, finally happy to be away from any bright lights and noise.
Quiet was their only concern. His mind was racing like a mile a minute. It was all he could do to focus on the serenity of the moment.
Gemini: You don’t see things like this in the city. In the city you can’t see a single star yet here you can see all of them. It’s like every constellation is visible from where we stand. You can see things that you’ve never seen before. It’s breathtakingly beautiful, isn’t it?
Invidia: It’s like when we travelled to Omicron Persei 8 for Luglok. I always loved celebrating that holiday across planetary boundaries.
Gemini: Yes, yes it is. You can see Gemini, right there.
They stopped and simply looked at the beautiful night sky. He enjoyed the serenity of the moment.
Gemini: There are more stars in the sky than there are grains of sand on earth. Each and every one of them could potentially have a planet just like ours on it with people just like us staring up at our sun wondering if there is intelligent life out there.
Unfortunately for them there isn’t as much as they would think. Yes, there’s life for sure, but to call life here intelligent would be a bit of an overstatement in my opinion. You’ve got people who follow others like sheep, but worst of all you’ve got people herding them to the slaughter like Kevin Bishop.
I teamed with that man, if you remember.
Invidia: I do.
She was tossed out a 3 story window by Kevin Bishop in an attempt to break Gemini free from his shackles of the hospital bed to fight Zero Tolerance about 2 months ago. She remembered the men very well.
Gemini: He was a valiant fighter, and he is the current People’s Champ, and has a whole slew of wrestlers backing him at every turn. It’s cowardly and weak and EXACTLY how the DRG ran so I get it. You see in this fed there is power in numbers. You have to be able to trust people to have your back.
But what Kevin Bishop doesn’t understand is that in War it’s every man for themselves. Me and Gonzo were best friends, but when push came to shove, I saw my opportunity to eliminate him and I fucking did last year. Our relationship was strong enough to where it remained strong after that but your followers may not feel so inclined to forgive if you screw them over.
Or worse, they may see fit to screw you over. Now I know this is a long shot. The Brotherhood has really just started to get its feet wet. It’s unlikely that you guys will turn on each other. Your main goal at War is to make sure that each of you looks strong. You are fighting for Stable of the Year with Zero tolerance and no doubt all of your paths will cross and it will be bedlam and mayhem in the ring…
But when the dust clears from that interaction who do you think will be standing tall? Will it be The Brotherhood… will it be Zero Tolerance? No… it will be neither and none. Even if one team wins that small battle waged, NONE of you will win the WAR.
But one man I consider to be a dark horse to win the whole thing is Mikey Extreme. I feel like he’s fallen under the radar in the past few months, since the incident in Mexico especially, but honestly, I think he likes it that way. Mikey Extreme was never meant to be a main event player in his own head, but the fact of the matter is that he is truly meant to be a main event player.
He is the very best pure fighter in this match coming up. If anyone is fit for War its Mikey Extreme. However, his mental state leaves him lacking in a certain area. Fighting Mikey Extreme one on one is a challenge. He can meticulously and feverishly gather all of your fears and insecurities and use them against you in the most painful and mindlessly numbing ways possible.
I do not look forward to the day when Mikey and I are to step foot as enemies into the ring one on one. But surely that day will come because after I win War he will certainly earn a World Title Shot and I will gladly give it to him. But he won’t earn it this week. He won’t earn it by winning the War match because he is incapable of compartmentalizing and executing. His mind moves to fast for his body and when there are multiple challenges his ability to multi-task makes him a mere pittance in this match.
But, what he does have going for him is his fortunate position in the match. Coming in last has HUGE benefits. It makes it so most of the competition will be gone by the time he comes in. He had to focus and foresight to get himself into this situation and he understands what it takes to win, and knew he could do it. The stipulation that he could potentially enter the match first didn’t even cross his mind. He is a devious individual and knew exactly what he was doing.
Mikey Extreme is a man close to my heart. He and I battled countless times in the DRG together, and many considered him to be the loose cannon that glued everything together in that non-outlaw biker gang. He manipulated Thomas Bates, but still is endlessly loyal to the mountain. But he, just like everyone else, wants this opportunity. Will he be able to open his mind and gain peripheral vision or will his eyes tunnel towards one goal and disregard the chaos around him.
It could be good, or it could be devastating. The one thing it won’t be is a victory for him.
As they turn another corner and the skies open up just a little bit. He feels the first drop of rain fall on the tip of his nose and then the flurry of excitement that rushed after it as his internal temperature dropped a few welcome degrees from the cold rain pasting across his beaten body.
Invidia: It’s amazing how even though you can’t see a cloud in the sky that the heavens still piss on us. Isn’t it glorious?
Gemini: Indeed it is. But nothing is quite as glorious as home, now is it? At home is where I will wage a War. Many of us can call New York home. Even Skittlez can since no one wants to be known as living in fucking New Jersey. Even the Jets and Giants call themselves New York even though their stadium is in New Jersey. But Skittlez has not done himself a favor by being who he is. He has the slightest tinge of talent surrounded by a terrible gimmick and a terrible choice of partners. He is striving, dying to get a shot at a contract despite his shortcomings, and the greatest thing he can come up with is teaming with Lilith. The very same person who is minutes away from being fired at any moment.
But alas, I can understand why you would want to call New York home. It’s the greatest fucking city in the world and this week at War I come HOME. I have made my career by defeating people that I shouldn’t have in Madison Square Garden. I’ve ruined careers by overcoming the odds and winning matches that no one thought I deserved to win.
I’ve been up and I’ve been down. I’ve seen the top of the mountain and the deepest darkest pits of hell. But no matter where I go there’s only one place that I can call home, and that’s New York fucking city. Joey Flash can say whatever he wants about going home, the fact of the matter is that he’s been home sitting on his ass while men like Me and Corey Black and… God Damn it I hate to say it… even Thomas Bates has been busting our asses every week to make ends meet. And rebuild this company that he fucking helped destroy.
He's waging War on a company that he wanted nothing to do with. He had Sharkboy use magic powers to convince Seth to sign him to a contract that ends at the end of the year. He thinks he's going to step into the ring at War after fucking abandoning the place that made him relevant, and fucking win? Then he thinks that he's going to go to One and fucking win the World Title?
He said that he came back to ruin my moment. I would love nothing more than to tell that redemption story and I will when I hit him with God’s Paradox and pin him in the middle of the ring. And he won’t have any of his fucking 3 stooges to save his ass from being embarrassed again. Last year he had the fight of his life and barely walked out of War alive. This year, he WON’T be walking out of War at all.
This year we go to Madison Square Garden and I show the world whose house it is.
The rain really begins to come down and the corn stalks wave in the wind. Gemini looks up as a bright light gets brighter and larger and a beam of brilliant light comes down welcoming Gemini and Invidia towards it, ruining the serenity of the moment.
A force stronger than man wills them and they feel helpless to the demands as they step towards the light and feel their bodies hurled upwards by an invisible force pulling at him from the waist.
They’ve felt this before. Alien ships always came to Podunk Hicksitucky because no one would give a shit if the residents here live or die and no one would believe those drunken fucks if they were even brave enough to admit what had happened to them. But this one wasn’t like the others. This one wasn’t looking for a deplorable mass to probe. This one was looking for Gemini and Invidia and god damn it they found them.
The Abduction
The dazzling light faded and darkness once again filled their eyes, but that too was short lived. As their eyes acclimated to the new scenery the motherboard of the tremendous spacecraft they found themselves on. Gemini and Invidia were accustomed to being on such vessels, but the technology on this one was far beyond any that they had ever experienced.
Gemini looked around and didn’t see a soul, but sensed something far greater. He knew that there was power on this ship and the fact that he couldn’t feel any type of residual motion from outside meant that there were complex functions at work as well. Invidia shuttered. It was an off motion for her. It meant that she was becoming envious and it was making her weaker as she fed off her own insecurities.
As he looked up he saw the reason why. The stunning blue eyes and blonde hair of a familiar colleague walked in through a sliding door.
Gemini: Bonnie Blue.
Bonnie: That’s right, bud!
She stepped over and gave Gemini a hug. He wasn’t sure what to make of it as he tensed during the embrace and vaguely returned the gesture. He wasn’t totally sure of her knowledge of the whole Grayson situation. But the envy that Invidia was feeling made more sense. She had consumed Kat Pierce, who was horribly jealous of the rather innocent relationship that Pierce had with this lovely young lady, and she is still very much a part of Invidia as Grayson is a part of him.
She was smart, Bonnie. She knew a lot more than she led on. He was in unfamiliar territory and he knew that where Bonnie the rest of the Guardians weren’t far behind. He, in a rare case of self-preservation, chose honesty as the best policy.
Gemini: Bonnie, I…
How can he say it?
Gemini: I’m not Grayson. I’m Gemini.
Bonnie: I know hun. That was the plan the entire time.
Gemini looked at her with stunned eyes. She not only was taking the news awfully well but was claiming responsibility for the entire charade.
Gemini: Bullshit.
His frustration got the better of him, but Bonnie no sold the shit out of it. She sparked a joint and then simply pointed towards the door as another familiar face walked in that Gemini couldn’t help but smile at.
Gemini: The Maniac?
He said as Alex Richards walked into view. The Maniac was Wrath incarnate. He was the final piece of the puzzle that would complete the chosen ones. This was clearly not Ira.
Alex Richards: Not exactly, let me get a hit of that.
He knew it couldn’t be that easy. Richards remained jovial as he often did, but there was a tense feeling about him, something almost inhuman in nature as he pointed the joint towards Gemini who refused the drug. Richards shrugged, puffed another puff and passed it back to Bonnie before coughing slightly.
Alex Richards: But we found him… Ira, that is. We found him and we need you to come with us.
Invidia: YES!
Gemini: Hold on.
Invidia leapt forward at the prospect of completing the final task, disregarding the fact that they had no information of the situation. But Gemini was not so sure. Mostly because…
Gemini: Aren’t you supposed to be dead?
This small seemingly insignificant fact did not go idly by Gemini when he saw the creature standing in front of him.
Alex Richards: I just left. Didn’t die. Too many broken promises. Too many shallow lives at stake.
Visions of the past year flew through his mind and he sorted the memories of Grayson Pierce and intertwined them with his own. He remembered the promised match against David Sanchez and how that never came to fruition. He remembered the terrible circumstances and the horrible bullying that forced Richards out of this beloved place
Gemini: Yes, indeed. But that’s all changed now.
Alex Richards: I know, you finally won the World Title, so did I. And here I am. All of those things you were doing were leading to this moment where you and I would finally meet again and we could take you off to destroy Ira.
Gemini: Destroy Ira? No, that’s not what we want to do. We need to CONVERT him into a proper chosen one. We need him to protect the Capuans, not destroy him and make him useless. Besides, if you destroy him another one will be reborn.
Alex Richards: Not if we kill Ira the GOD.
Gemini: Are you fucking kidding me? Do you know what that would do to the Capuans. The circle could never be complete again. Chaos would overrun and the Capuans would be destroyed.
Bonnie: What do you care? You’re here on Earth. You and Invidia are special cases. You are mostly human at this point. If we destroy Ira then you two would be fine, and you can simply go one living the life you are living. Capua would crumble atop itself, but you and the 5 others would live on Earth.
He was shocked to hear Bonnie speak so callously towards living creatures. She must have been through hell since they parted ways to have small regard to life.
Gemini: I can’t…
Alex Richards: Trust us, man. We’ve seen the future. The Capuans will destroy themselves eventually anyway. You know this is true. But in this scenario, the way it’s going, you will be one of the few destroyed. We haven’t run a matrix for converting Ira but I don’t think things will change very much.
Gemini: It HAS to. The Prophecy wills it to be so.
Alex Richards: Not exactly. Those things are open to a lot of different interpretations.
Bonnie: Come with us. We need you. Despite what we do with Ira we need you with us.
Gemini: As long as I’m back in time for War I can help you out for a bit, but…
Alex Richards: Where we’re going there’s no returning from…
They explained this paranormal Phenomenon called The Wave and how it split the universe in two. Many of the former WCF Wrestlers have joined a near carbon copy of this world. He explained the need to help destroy BeachKrew and what they stand for. This interested him. He explained how Andre Holmes was falling into deep despair and how he needed our help.
Gemini: Rebellution.
Most importantly of all they explained that as long as he remained here that he would never find Ira because he wasn’t in this dimension any longer. He was in the extended universe. As long as Gemini stayed here, in the WCF, the prophecy would never be fulfilled.
Gemini: I… I can’t leave here. I’ve got too much going on. I’m the Television Champion, I’ve got War, and I’ve got Thomas Bates to fuck with. I've got this whole invading his dream angle I'm running with...
Invidia pulled Gemini aside and whispered.
Invidia: But the Prophecy. We can figure a way back here eventually. But we have to get him. You heard what they’re going to do. They’re going to destroy Ira and destroy Capua. We can’t let them do that.
Alex Richards: Listen, you don’t have to choose now, but this ship sails in a fortnight. You need to make a decision by then… and I hope it’s the right one.
An out of breath Polar Phantasm bursts through the same door that the others emerged from, panting and sweating profusely.
Polar Phantasm: Did you feel it?
Gemini: Are you drunk?
Polar Phantasm: Yes, and high. But did you feel that? Something fucked just happened. Something powerful just came here.
They ran to the motherboard and Omega expertly navigated the system and pulled up a familiar image on the screen.
Gemini: Is that…
Bonnie: Yep…
Polar Phantasm: Straight from Poon Guinea…
Gemini: Fuck.
History
The Guardians graciously brought Gemini back to New York where he belonged. And as he stepped foot off the ship and onto the top of Gemco Towers he felt complete for the first time in a long time. He looked up at the silent spaceship as it began to fade into the night background.
Alex Richards: We’ll be in touch. We hope you make the right decision.
He shouted down as the hangar doors closed and the ship flew up in the air at the speed of sound and shot off in the distance.
How the tables have turned. The Nordic God of Poon Guinea has returned to the WCF and is hell bent on winning War. Gemini had stepped into the ring with the giant man before, and if memory serves him right he pinned the man to win the quarter finals of the Trio’s Tournament. But this is not the same man as over a year ago.
It is, but this Odin was more powerful and more effervescent than ever. He was back with a mission and Gemini couldn’t help but notice how he and joey Flash emerged at the same time. It seemed like there was something that the Guardians were keeping from him. There was a fourth member that they refused to introduce him to for one. But there was something else nefarious going on.
FLASH…ODIN…RABID
Gemini: What the fuck is going on here? Why are they back? What are their intentions? And you know what’s most fucked up? No one has any idea what these guys are capable of. Adrian Archer, that Magnificent Bastard, has got some balls on him. But he has no idea what he’s stepping into.
He’s beginning to toss shit down the legacy of these three men. He steps towards them and what does Odin do. He no sells the shit out of them. They aren’t even important enough to be on his radar. But I am. I was a focal point of both men’s promos because they know that I’m not only a threat to them, but I’m THE fucking threat.
When Dion Necurat comes out and tells them that he’s gonna make them tap out they laugh, as they should. Neither Joey flash nor Odin know what it means to tap out. This has nothing to do with their fighting spirit, its mere stupidity and stubbornness that puts them in that unenviable situation.
Archer says that he’s going to kill Odin. Like he even has the ability to kill anyone. He can’t even save his own daughter from the hands of Damien Kaine. These two men have so much more to settle that he should be focusing on him rather than trying to take down Odin.
Basically everyone should avoid Flash, Odin and let me dispose of them. But they won’t. They think that they are so much better than they really are. Maybe they’re underestimating how devastating these invaders to the WCF are, or perhaps they’re overestimating their own abilities. Which is the greater sin, The sin of Pride or the sin of Ignorance?
It may be bliss, but it could also be fatal if they don’t study up on their past. They don’t see what’s happening. There’s an uprising, an upheaval. These memories of distant past are coming to haunt us. Do you think it’s a surprise that the Guardians have come back? They know. They know something fishy is going on and we need to stop it.
Invidia: How?
Gemini: War, of course. It’s the only way. It’s the only time I’ll be able to get my hands on them. It’s the only place where we will all be in the same place at the same time. In that match I will have to fight not only for victory but for survival. I will have to step into that ring and truly aim to destroy, not just to defeat.
He stepped through the door on the roof and into the narrow hallway leading towards the penthouse suites atop the rotating G of Gemco Towers. The world revolved around him and he took note of the still hauntingly empty New York Landscape and looked at One World Trade Center standing tall above the skyline but still paling in comparison to its predecessor.
He felt a connection to this tower. When the two crumbled and only one arose it resembled too closely his own life as he and Grayson crumbled into obscurity and oblivion and only Gemini emerged. He hated that tower as it stared a hole straight through his own tower. If he hadn’t been given the building he’s in by Trump himself then he would have had it destroyed and rebuilt where he wouldn’t have to be reminded of the atrocities put on the city 15 years ago.
15 years…
Gemini: 15 years ago the WCF was in its bare infancy. 15 years ago at War III Seth swerved the entire company and hand-picked Logan as the WCF Champion as he rigged the match so he would win. And now, 15 years later so little has changed. Logan was the chosen one as he won the Final Destination briefcase leading to the catalyst of the Mexico Incident.
So many people have joined the WCF since we rebuilt. And we have become stronger and more relevant than ever before. We’ve had Zero Tolerance come in and take the tag team division by storm. Crazy J even won the Hardcore Title in his first singles match. These men could have chosen anywhere to join, and knowing how their defunct last company went, I know where many of them went.
The worst went off to lie in bed and become the sloths that everyone knew they were. A few bounced universes and others started their own thing. Zero Tolerance could have gone anywhere to assert their influence, but they chose us. And we should feel honored. Despite the roster’s general opinion of the Trio they have a storied past and an honored future.
We’ve also been joined by the likes of Jason O’Neal and Serujah Goldstein. These two have come up through the wrestling ranks to get to the WCF, the greatest wrestling company in the world. They deserve to be here, but they too could have chosen anywhere else in the world to go. There’s a reason that people come to the WCF and not anywhere else.
People are so quick to dismiss history, but it’s the history that makes this place so great. Those not understanding of the history are destined to repeat it. We know who is slated to be in the War match, but is there any doubt in anyone else’s mind that there will be a few surprises that we didn’t know about? If Logan shows up I wouldn’t be shocked, I would be ready.
If Bobby Cairo, or Gravedigger, or Jay Omega or anyone else who has won War showed up I would be prepared. Just as I am prepared for Jeff Purse, the only man in War who has won it in the past. He’s the only one who knows what it takes to become a War Champion and a World Champion. Some may call him a legend, and he is in his own right, but I don’t. He’s a wrestler, just like any one of us. When he steps into the ring he bleeds, he sweats and he fights.
And he lines things up in perfect order and counts to three before moving on to the next thing.
His OCD has been shot on more times that ZMac has shot up heroin. But he uses that disability and makes it strength. He is the walking embodiment of a terrible job interview question. But he fucking makes it work. Charismatic and one hell of a wrestler. But he’s been out of the game for so long, and lately he has been so weak in performances. He shows up and leaves and shows up and leaves. He’s only in this match for the recognition and the paycheck. It’s hard to believe that he actually wants to win.
Invidia: You really love this match.
Gemini: But that’s what War does. Anyone could come out of the woodwork to compete in it. My goal in 2016 was to compete in Ultimate Showdown. And not only did I get that opportunity but I seized it with the cold steel hands that only I could. I defeated everyone else in that match and won the World Title in the most epic fashion possible.
I never lost that title, and I deserve another shot. But I also understand that Seth doesn’t abide by the automatic rematch clause. Especially when a man like Corey Black who has the history he does not only in the WCF but in wrestling in general. Corey Black came back after hardly wrestling to win the King of the Deathmatch Tournament.
So I took my step back because I know when it’s time to wait in line. Title shots are earned, they’re not handed out. Despite the fact that I didn’t get pinned to lose the title in the books it still says that I lost. I will fight and I will earn my title shot at One. And this time it will go differently than last year. This time I will step into One the Challenger and return victorious.
But I have to get there first. I have to get there by defeating everyone in the WCF and winning this massive Battle Royal. War brings out the best in people, but for me it brings out my worst. It makes me hunger for more. It makes me feed off the insecurities of everyone in that match. I live for War, baby. I fucking LIVE for it.
Gemini and Invidia get to their bedroom but the sun begins to come in through the UV resistant windows of the spiraling space. Morning had come far earlier than they would have liked, but he ignored the sun. He wasn’t a child of the stars.
He was a child towards baser instincts.
