Match of the Night: Styles vs. Ambrose
MVP: Everybody put in a great performance, but I'm going to give it to the women. They exceeded expectations.
Thoughts: Great show overall. One of the best all year. It didn't drag and it kept my attention the entire way through. No bullshit. No filler. Whoever thought to make Kane vs. Wyatt No Holds Barred should be given a raise. If it were a regular match, it could have dragged the card down but instead it allowed the two to have more freedom and made the match interesting. I suppose the only reason for the stip was to allow Bray to lose because of Orton, but I don't care. It was a good call. In regards to AJ, his win was a formality at this point, but he and Ambrose had an excellent match regardless. Raw has some work to do in two weeks at the Clash.

Match of the night: The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler
MVP: AJ Styles
Thoughts: You look at my match of the night and you may question it, but damn The Miz is money and he's building toward a feud with Daniel Bryan that will wind up being a feud with Brian Kendrick (yes I'm calling it now). Aj finally got himself a wwe title and it winds up being the WORLD TITLE before anything else. The E knows he's a great story teller in the ring and he did a phenomenal (lack of a better word) job with Dean Amrbose tonight.

I've always been a Kendrick fan. Part of the reason he's my pic base. But his talent against the Miz's would just be epic beyond proportions.

Match of the Night: Women's Championship
MVP: Becky Lynch ... it's about damn time!
Thoughts: Overall great show. Glad to see they did right with the Slater angle. Also most of the match winners made sense and were the right call. I realize the heel push on AJ Styles but kinda 'eh' on them having to have him low blow on Ambrose to secure a match. Making him way too much bitch. I probably have more thoughts but too tired for that right now. Can't think right and fuck these evil crickets that won't shut up! UGH!

Match of the Night: AJ/Ambrose
MVP: The Usos/Bray Wyatt
Thoughts: There's a couple of interesting things here, one of Smackdown's major weaknesses to me so far has been a lack of credible heels, Styles notwithstanding. The big issue with the tag tournament is everyone assumed it would be American Alpha just sweeping through the competition because there was nobody else. Credit where it's due, the heel turn for the Usos was perfectly timed, and in one night they elevated both the Hype Bros and Heath Slater/Rhyno. Say what you want about Slater's likability or the overall story, it does not matter how good the face is if there is nobody for him to overcome, and the Usos played their parts to perfection as the cocky veterans keeping him from achieving his dream.
In that same vein you have Bray Wyatt, who on short notice put on a great match with Kane (which as we've seen is not an easy task) and lost because of Orton. Kane gets to walk away with a win and Orton looks credible again after the Brock slaughter, but as usual Bray's stock does not drop very far.
I love me some tag team wrestling, but even i have to admit that the tournament would have been extremely bland without someone stepping up as a legit heel team, and the Usos have done just that. Making a bland match more interesting is just as important as performing well in a match that's expected to do well. Dean vs AJ would have been great pretty much no matter what, the same cannot be said for the other matches lol.
So in my book, both MVPs elevated two opponents each and neither walked away with a belt.
