Gemini Battle stood in front of his newest invention, the Astral Travel Machine, or ATM. The ATM looked like a giant metal globe from the outside, rather inconspicuous in a room full of failed attempts at time travel and regeneration, but on the inside it was a modern scientific miracle. Using the technology of 3D Cameras, Gemini was able to step into a room that was a projection of the inside of a person’s mind as they slept. He was able to step into a person’s dreams and manipulate them to his liking. It was like Inception but generally was going to be used to benefit Gemini and not the person sleeping.
Gemini: Can… Can I try it?
He asked his head of Astral Projections, Dr. Patel.
Dr. Patel: Of course, it’s in perfect working condition; we even have a subject ready for you to… intervene with.
He pointed at a quarantined room with glass walls and an Indian man lying on a white bed with a sheet over him. The beauty of this machine was that it was noninvasive… well it was incredibly invasive, but he didn’t have to attach any wires on the subject, all he needed was a sample of his DNA, which, seeing as the subject was yet another clone of Dr. Patel, he had in spades. He entered the machine, placed in the DNA and pressed ‘Begin.’
Gemini: Let the games begin!
He stepped out of the machine with a look of pure joy on his scarred and beaten face as he looked at the clone of Dr. Patel clawing away at the glass walls, desperately trying to escape the hell that Gemini created for him.
This was part of an overall goal to do something that no one thought possible. To be able to manipulate a person’s dreams, to shape them in a way that he saw fit, was something only seen in movies and in bullshit Lucid Dreaming exercises by pop psychologists. But this was real, and Gemini was going to do the impossible as he entered and shattered the dreams of Thomas Bates.
But first, he had a few other dreams to crush. Namely, the two fools that have decided to agree to compete in a match with Gemini Battle for the WCF Television Championship. Damien Kaine and Adrian Archer were embroiled in a feud that saw Kaine kidnap Archer’s daughter… which Archer completely no-sold. Gemini hated to admit, but both men were certainly interesting.
He decided not to bore Invidia with another amazing tale of how he would defeat these men, so he looked to Teddy, his son who was dying to spend some quality time with his father. The man was near 10 feet tall and over 750 lbs. His beard was unkempt and dirty, just like Gemini liked it and his hair was long and brown.
Teddy sat on a specially reinforced chair made for giants that the Battle Station had specially made after meeting the man and having seat after seat punished underneath the man’s massive form. Human beings weren’t meant to be this size, and Earth in general wasn’t prepared for someone like this to freely roam its surface. Gemini loved every second of it. He was invulnerable and the perfect soldier and ally to fight aside him in his quest to find the chosen ones.
Gemini: Sit down son; I’ve got some shit to tell ya.
Teddy: Yay, story time.
Even at his size he could still exude the joviality of childlike whimsy.
Gemini: This week, daddy has a big match coming up. Seth wants me to face not one but two rivaling wrestlers in a TV Title match. Another Triple Threat Match just like the one I lost my world title in, except with far lesser competitors.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that Adrian Archer and Damien Kaine aren’t talented in their own rights; it’s just that… how can I put this?
Ok, imagine you were fighting a hell demon. And the same demon continued coming to your place and fucking with your shit. You couldn’t kill it, but at the same time it couldn’t kill you. You both had this joint anger towards each other. You both wanted to kill each other and then out of nowhere you’re put in this situation where you need to fight this demon as well as someone who you have no affiliation with in order to get some gold.
What would you do?
Teddy: Well first I would kill the demon…
Gemini: Precisely. You would be so focused on getting your hands on that demon that you would lose your focus on the grand prize of it all. You would be hell bent on destroying the one that has been terrorizing you all this time and then the golden child that you two were pitted against would absolutely destroy the two of you… you get where I’m going with this, right?
Teddy: I don’t think the golden child would destroy me…
He said a bit shyly, knowing of his indestructible nature but not wanting to disappoint his father by disagreeing with him.
Gemini: Of course not you, Teddy. But in this parable I am the golden child and you and the hell demon are Adrian Archer and Damien Kaine disrepectively. And in this parable, such as real life I will destroy the two offending interlopers and I will leave the match as the Television Champion.
Teddy: How can you be so sure?
Again his tone, even for a man who could crush Gemini under his thumb, was that of fear and dismissal.
Gemini: You see Adrian Archer isn’t ready yet. Seth even told him himself. He said that he will be one day, but he ain’t there yet. Unfortunately, Seth is a moron and allowed himself to be played by the man. He may be able to get what he wants through smooth talking, but his skills just aren’t there yet. His biggest accomplishments are almost beating Corey Black and Odin Balfore, and taking Psychopomp to his limits. All of these are losses that he is twisting into success.
His greatest weakness is actually a strength? Not in this case. His strength is weakness. His strength is the fact that despite the fact that he can’t fucking string a few wins together he keeps going out there a fighting the good fight. And trust me, I get that. I fucking struggled for two years in the WCF before I could make a name for myself. It took me 2 years and 2 War Matches before I was started to be taken seriously.
But I headlined One and still was disrespected because I was the guy who would go out there, put his all into every match, would fight like there’s no tomorrow because for me there was no tomorrow and would lose. But I would go out every week, tell the story I wanted to tell and fight the fight I wanted to fight the way I wanted to fight it.
My greatest accomplishments for some time were tying Dune, eliminating the most men ever in the history of War, and competing in 3 World Title matches. But they all were losses. At the end of the Day Dune had my number, I watched Jay Omega win the World Title at War and I lost all three of those shots at the title.
But STILL… my ‘accomplishments,’ the things that I touted over and over again in an effort to convince others and myself that I was relevant were still more effective than what Adrian Archer has to brag about. And all it takes is time. He will be there one day, and just competing in the same match as me, as conceded and egotistical as this sounds… just being in this match with me will elevate him to a new level that he has never reached yet.
This will prepare him for War and will prepare him for the career that he can have one day. He’s an arrogant fuck with all the talent in the world but without the ability to harness it just yet. Love him, hate him… he’s fucking right. You gotta respect him. And the fact that I respect him is the very reason that I will defeat him.
But a man that I do not respect is Damien Kaine. And I’m not gonna hassle him about his size because if anyone knows that size doesn’t matter it’s me. I’m barely 220 and I stepped into Ultimate Showdown with a mountain, a Zombie and a powerlifter and I took them all down. It’s not the size of the dog in the fight it’s the size of the fight in the dog, right?
But…
Gemini pauses for a moment. He seems disgusted and is rubbing his tongue on the inside of his lips over his teeth before spitting crimson salvia to the garbage can next to him.
Gemini: He talks like he’s a serial killer. We have one of those. Oblivion is one of those and I’ve taken out that monster time and time again. He wants to hurt and punish people… well who doesn’t? He’s not unique and he’s barely capable. However, unlike Archer who is living off of ‘almost’ victories, Kaine is living vicariously off of past achievements.
It’s been said time and time again. It doesn’t fucking matter what you did before you got here. In the fed I was in before I got here I fucking won the Grand Slam in 6 months and was the first and only ever simultaneous Triple Crown winner. But when I came here I was fucking nothing. I was the bottom of the barrel chump getting tossed 25 feet through the air by a mountain as he stole a victory away from me.
You can almost see the blood boiling inside of Gemini as his body turns an unnatural red color and his fists clench turning his knuckles blindingly white.
Gemini: But I’m not fucking letting something like that happen again. I’m not getting distracted, I’m not letting myself get eliminated from the match this time so someone can come and steal another victory form me. If either of these men want to win this week they’re going to have to do it through me, and let me fucking tell you something, that ain’t fucking happening.
I’m the WCF Television Champion. I’m not giving this title up like Thomas Bates did because of some bullshit reason that ultimately means that he feels that he’s above the title. There is no above the title. Even when I win the World Title after winning my shot at War I will STILL be the Television Champion and I will continue to defend this title every week because THAT’S how important this title is. It’s not something to be tossed aside when something better comes along, it’s something to be prized and cherished and honored.
Thomas Bates may not have gotten that fact but I do, and sure as hell Adrian Archer and Damien Kaine understand that as well. However they find themselves in the horribly unfortunate position of facing off against a Gemini Battle who is more motivated than ever, and who has great plans with this title to bring it to heights that have never been achieved with this title in the past, and believe me, this title has been fucking space bound if you know what I mean.
The best way to predict the future is to create it. And I predict great things for this Television Title while I hold it. Kaine and Archer are not part of that future.
Gemini patted his son on the shoulder. It may not be the time his son was wanted to spend with his father but it was the time he needed to spend with him.
Gemini: Can… Can I try it?
