The following takes place in an ESPN-type setting designed to look like the sky box in an NFL stadium. "Friction" by Imagine Dragons plays as very brief match highlights from the last show plays.
Hello everybody and welcome toooooo the (OOC) pilot episode of The Skybox! I'm your host, CJ Phoenix, and I'm here to give you a recap on WCF's latest show. Now, if you haven't already checked out the first of my "By the Numbers" series, I'll leave a link for you below to check it out.
By the Numbers-Revenge 2016
Alright. Check this out. Revenge started off with a video package announcing the return of "The Future" Jeff Purse on the September 11th edition of Slam. With WAR being 24 days from now, it's safe to say that Jeff, winner of WAR XI back in 2012, will be looking to join Logan as the only multi-time War Match winners. Can the two-time World Champ become a two-time War champ? We'll find out on September 25th.
TV Title Match-BioWalker VS Thomas Uriel Bates(C)
Winner-Bates
This match was uhhh...Bates didn't even use the Bates Boot of Doom and Destruction to win it. That's terrifying!
Chaos vs Greg St. Matthews vs Mark Gallagher vs Logan Burgess vs Nicky O'Reilly vs Cliff of Doom
Winner-Cliff of Doom
A great mix of noobs and guys who've been around the block before in this one as a half dozen guys fight to see who gets to potentially take that next step up on the card. Plenty of great moves in this one. Gallagher goes for a Double Underhook DDT, but before he can execute it, here comes Chaos. Chaos hits and inverted DDT on Gallagher, which causes Gallagher to DDT St. Matthews as well. What a move sequence there. Great to see that out of these talents. Then, you got the Moonsault here by O'Reilly to break up a pin attempt after Chaos hits Gallagher with a Natural Disaster. But in the end, it was Cliff catching St. Matthews and dropping him with the Doomstone. Great showmanship by Cliff after the match giving an applause out of respect. Really looking forward to seeing what's next for the kid.
Miles MacArthur is making his debut in the WCF pretty soon, and apparently, his focus seems to be making a name for himself as a musician. Can he rise up the ranks of the roster in harmony, or will he be caught out of tune? We'll find out when Miles steps in the ring.
Winner Becomes Tomohawk's Tag Team Champion Partner
Big Train vs Captain WCF
Special Guest Referee: Tomohawk
Winner-Captain WCF
I just can't get over this. A singles match to become Tag Champion.....okay. I'm over it for now. Into the match we go! Tom-O-Hawk didn't really seem to care too much about this one, just wanting it to be over ASAP with the constant fast counts. He's already Tag champ anyway. As for the competitors, lemme ask you something. Have you ever been hit by a train? Like a Big Train? Captain WCF did when BT nearly folded him up like origami with a Spear. But somehow, just enough of Cap's nerves were working for him to kick out. Then, to end it, Captain Punt would connect on a Big Boot to the temple of Big Train. Cap wins it and becomes Tag Champion. It's gonna be interesting to see how Captain WCF and Tom-O-Hawk will cooperate when they have their first title defense together.
Internet Title Match
Night Rider VS Teddy Blaze(C)
Winner-Teddy #BlazeIt
Teddy wanted a challenge from his challenger, but Night Rider initially just didn't care enough to want to put in the effort. However, after constant taunting, he pushed Rider over the edge and this one certainly didn't have any pulled punches. First, it was Blaze, who offered a handshake just to get a cheap shot it, but Night Rider quickly turned things in his favor with a Shoulder Block followed by a Spear through the ropes. It only got uglier from there. Watch as Night dodges the Blazing Knee here. WHAM! Knee first into the ringpost goes Teddy, and that looks gruesome! There were even points in the match where Teddy's knee gave out, stopping whatever momentum he would be building at the time, cold. Rider would capitalize until his nose gets nearly broken by a desperation Headbutt from #BlazeIt. Teddy would take advantage of that injury, twisting the nose until he has enough space to hit the Blazing Knee for the win. One thing's for sure, this was a helluva brawl between these two as both proved that they're championship caliber.
Alpha Title Match
Jordan Ciserano vs Dion Necurat vs CJ Phoenix vs The Butcher
Winner-CJ Phoenix
Okay. We're coming off a brutal, violent, slugfest. That means that this match is gonna be nice and clean and not at all chaotic, right? Hail Snow!(Hells no!) I knew this one would get messy, but damn damn damn did that get taken to new heights when Dion introduced his shield into the match! Then, things got bloody when The Butcher came out of the meat locker with his handy dandy skillet and went to town. First on Jordan, then this vicious running shot to Phoenix's skull. The weapon would end up drawing blood from all four competitors. Moving on to the closing moments, Baron looked to have had the match won when he hit the Blitzkrieg on Dion, but he wanted to make an example out him. So he taunted both him and the Galaxy. Big mistake as Dion would hit the Praetorian Driver, but his injury would stop him long enough for him to get Speared by Phoenix. Then, it was a meeting of the kicks as the Ciserano Super Kick met the Talon Kick and both guys hit the floor. Finally, after tossing Jordan out of the ring, Phoenix hit one more Talon Kick, this time on Massaker, to walk out of Revenge as Alpha Champion.
No Disqualification Match
Adam Young VS Freezer Burn
Winner-Freezer Burn
Yep. It's another gruesome one. Clearly this PPV isn't for the kids....neither is WCF in general, but the kiddies still tune in and watch it. Let me start by saying this match was insane from start to finish. Constant action. Consistent carnage. AY broke a damn hammer and threw it at Freezer Burn! Then, he took the handle and started beating the Freeze like a frozen Pinata. Just as it looked like AY was gonna run away with this one, Wayne slams the camshaft onto Young's foot! How's he supposed to enjoy a walk in the park after that!? Well, he did walk that kendo stick into Wayne's face before some fingers nearly got broken when a steel chair met a camshaft. And then, towards the end, it was camshaft versus kendo stick as Freezer slides into the ring and stands up with Adam close behind, and as soon as both men are on their feet, they both swing with all their might and nail each other in the head with their weapons! Both guys drop like flies! This roster might very well be limping into the next Slam. At long last, the match, better yet, the in-ring bar fight concludes with the old Freeze dropping AY with the Fastest Left Hand in the World. Freezer burn gets the win, but both his and AY's bodies took some Ls in that one. Great match.
At last, we get a quick break from the mind numbing, nightmare fueling violence. Looks like we have another returning guy coming back for the War Match. This time, It's FPV! That's right, one of WCF's seven Grand Slam winners and former World Champion Frank Venable will be looking to add on to his legacy as he searches for his first War Match victory.
Hardcore Title Match
Crazy J vs Lester Parish vs Doc Henry vs Oblivion vs Zombie McMorris(C)
Winner-Crazy J
With all the hardcore destruction that has happened so far, it's hard to believe that we're JUST NOW GETTING TO THE HARDCORE TITLE MATCH! And yet we are. Maaaannnnnn did this one not disappoint or what. Who else but ol' ZMAC would drive a fother mucking scissor lift to the ring! Then the maniac ended up flying into the crowd! To top it off, the bell rang AFTER that! Lord Jesus, no wonder there were so many paramedics at the PPV. So, after the match got underway, and psychotic dentist Doc Henry has removed one of Crazy J's teeth! Obliviion Powerbombed Lester Parish onto a Ford, and then burned him! Now this is what's scary, Doc took out TWO skillets and assalted Obi's skull with them, but the monster wasn't even fazed! He's not human! And then there's this. Just listen to this.
Freddy Whoa: Crazy J Up…SUPERKICK! OBLIVION HITS HIM WITH THE SUPERKICK!
Zach Davis: COLONADE BY PARISH ONTO OBLIVION!
DOVE KILLAH BY MCMORRIS ON PARISH!
CONFEDERATE ROCKET ONTO MCMORRIS BY HENRY!
ALL FIVE MEN ARE DOWN!!!
Crowd Erupts into thunderous ovation
Crowd: THIS IS AWESOME….THIS IS AWESOME….
Indeed it was awesome. The fact that none of the fans, that we know of, got hurt at Revenge is amazing. It all came to an end though when ZMAC would pass out due to Crazy J's Neck Cutter. The win gives the ZT member his first WCF Title.
People's Title Match
Psychopomp vs Kevin Bishop(C)
Winner-Kevin Bishop
This was one hell of a unique match right here. Both men campaigning really well. KB opening up to the people while Pomp scattered #vote4pomp everywhere he could. The people were in for a show, and they got one. The champ got the early momentum after this Exploder Suplex, but only got the two count. Pomp battled back and nearly ended it after nailing The Plague with the Kitchen Sink. However, what really had everyone talking was what happened next. Pomp puts Bishop in a sleeper hold...and the lights go to sleep!(playing off the non ending after the results were first posted lol) The fans were confused. The commentators were flummoxed. Even the guys in the match didn't know what to do. Fortunately, that didn't last long, as the two would continue competing after the lights came back on. Moments later, Pomp hits the Stargazer, but Kevin barely manages to keep himself in the match. Momentum would swing once more in this one, especially after Bishop connects with the Black Death. Somehow, someway, Pomp avoided having his shoulders down for a full three count. The Galaxy nearly exploded when Psychopomp locked in the Hands of Fate, and it took everything KB had to get to that bottom rope. It would be all Plague from there as he would hit three Butterfly Suplexes and an Inevitable Death Nail to retain the title.
Sweet Annihilation vs Lilith/Skittlez
Winner-N/A(Draw)
I honestly thought this one would be one-sided. Man was I wrong. This match went back and forth and had arguably the most controversial ending of the night. Let's get to what led to that. Skittlez was in a bad way and was looking to tag Lilith, but she had gotten distracted moments before, and was not there for the tag. This led to Drake Knight Booting the scrawny rapper into the referee. Now, fast forward pass the systematic destruction of Skitz, and Drake goes for a pin. The ref's still down, so another ref goes into the match. Meanwhile, Lilith capitalizes on this by locking in the Claw Grip on Ice prior to the original ref regaining his senses. As the second ref records the three count, the first ref acknowledges Ice tapping out to the submission hold. I'll leave it to you to decide who actually won that match.
Kira Izumi/Adrian Archer/Sarah Twilight vs Jason Cash/Salem Shepard/Damian Kaine
Winner-Cash/Shepard/Kaine
This might have been the match with the most storylines in it between competitors. You have Twilight's return, Kaine and Archer's Purge breakup, Kira being jumped out of ZT, and Adrian's twitter kerfuffle with ZT. It was a really good match, but it was the ending that got the boards buzzing. Izumi was looking for a tag, but instead of offering a hand, both Sarah Twilight AND Adrian Archer abandoned him. This left him to get pummeled by his opponents before getting pinned by Salem Shepard. However, the two Zero Tolerance members weren't done there. After Jason Cash blindsided Damian Kaine, he and Shepard continued to assault their in-match partner. I guess they don't like ANYONE but themselves getting the spotlight.
Winner Enters Last at War
Henry Spearman vs Mikey eXtreme
If Henry Spearman Uses a Superkick, He is Disqualified and Enters War At #1
This rivalry just keeps getting better and better, doesn't it? These two guys straight up don't like each other, and they're in one of the hottest rivalries in the WCF right now. The stakes in this match were astronomical as the winner would enter this month's War match last. That means they get to be the freshest person to come out to the ring while a good chunk of the competition has already been eliminated. However, the pressure was really on Henry Spearman, who had hit a Superkick on Mikey to win the Superkick VS Spear match. If he were to repeat that feat, he would immediately be disqualified and would be forced to enter first in the War match. Here he is after escaping a chinlock annnnndddd....no! He stops himself just in time, only to be marked by the X Marks the Spot from eXtreme. Henry would survive however. Clearly, Mikey wasn't happy about it. He goes for a low blow. That fails. He goes for a second X Marks the Spot, but Spearman dodges...and there it goes! Spearman hits Mikey eXtreme with a Superkick. The bell rings immediately. Worse case scenario for poor Henry. Not only is he forced to have to fight through EVERY other participant in order to win the match, his rival will enter on the other side of the spectrum.
Now before we get to the Main Event, there was a crowning of the King of the Deathmatch. Corey Black, AKA Creeping Death, winner of the King of the Deathmatch tournament, spoke about a draw he had in a match against Thomas Uriel Bates. He has chosen to come after whatever title Bates is holding, be it TV or World. What a deathmatch that will be. I can't wait to see it!
World Title Match
Brent Alpine vs Thomas Uriel Bates vs Gemini Battle
Winner-Thomas Uriel Bates
What a matchup we were treated to in the Main Event of Revenge. Brent Alpine was awarded the now Alpha Championship after it was changed from the United States title. He would trade it in for a shot at the World title. Meanwhile, Thomas Uriel Bates and Gemini Battle were the last two competitors in the Ultimate Showdown match. They headed into the match as Tag Team Champions, but after Battle defeated Bates to win the World Title, Bates became the TV Champion. Once again, they were in the ring, fighting for the coveted WCF World Title. Early on, Bates connects with the Badge on Alpine, but a Moonsault by Battle breaks the count at 2. Bates responds to this by hitting Gemini with the Memphis Giant Slam, but it isn't quite enough to get the three count. Alpine would soon go for the Glow Worm, but Bates powers out, giving the defending Champ the opportunity to lock the Mountain of WCF in the Victory March. However, the hold is broken up thanks to a clothesline from Alpine. Brent would follow up on this with a Mount Unpleasant on Gemini, but Bates nearly decapitates The Shine with a big boot that knocks him right out of the ring. Moving on to the closing moments of the match now. Bates grabs Gemini and nearly Hail Marys him to Neptune. Brent Alpine tries to capitalize on this by attempting a Glow Worm, but Tommy elbows him away before knocking the light right out of the Shine and picking up the win, securing his first ever WCF World title. This makes him the record breaking 8th different wrestler to win the World title this year. The reign of Mount Bates has begun.
Now that you're all caught up, it's time for "3 In, 3 Out". This is where I interview a handler and ask him/her three In Character questions and three Out Of Character questions. My first guest at this time weighs more than the chair I'm sitting on right now can handle. That's why I got a reinforce chair for him. Introducing the pilot guest of The Skybox's "3 In, 3 Out", WCF World Champion, Thomas Uriel Bates!
Bates comes out and takes a seat in the reinforced chair after shaking hands with Phoenix. It doesn't break, so he doesn't get pissed and kick my head off my shoulders. Yaaayyyyy!
Phoenix: Welcome to the show, champ!
Bates: Thanks for having me.
Phoenix: No problemo. First question. How did it feel as a handler to see a character of yours win the World Title?
Bates: As a handler, this is about my 33rd or 34th World title. The WCF World Championship is perhaps one of the most rewarding of them all. It took me about a year to do it, and facing amazing writers each time. I do find it funny, that one of the first things I talked to Gemini Battle about after our match (my first here) was that one day both of us would have held the World Title. Well, it happened.
Phoenix: Indeed it did, and you two faced off for the title in back-to-back PPVs with each one getting a win. That's gotta be a good feeling there.
So, now that the Mountain...is on top of the mountain in the WCF while also being the TV Champion, what do you see as the biggest challenge(s) of having two belts to defend, especially with one having a 2 RP limit and the other having a 1 RP, 2000 word limit?
Bates: The Television Championship is perhaps one of the most difficult to defend. Every week you have an opponent, no matter what. Now that you have the 2,000 world limit, it makes it easier, but it’s still a very demanding title.
He takes a moment to think before answering the question about the World Title.
Bates: The biggest challenge I see with holding the World Title, is keeping it. Big names want this belt. I’ve already been challenged by Corey Black, Gemini Battle could cash in his rematch clause, Zombie most likely will be wanting a go for it eventually, even people not in this company want a shot at his belt.
Phoenix: Everybody wants to be World Champ at some point. The big names make it a big challenge. It'll be interesting to see how Bates will handle trying to hold on to that title.
Okay, last OOC question, there are obviously a lot of very talented writers in the WCF right now. If you had the choice, which wrestler(s) would you like Bates to face for each title and why?
Bates: There’s so many of them right now, and I don’t want to give any spoilers. There’s some legends I can see going for it, and there’s some new people I can see too. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to face everyone for the title, assuming I can hold on to it.
Phoenix: And so the Bates gauntlet has been thrown! Hahaha.
The questions have now shifted from OOC to IC related.
Phoenix: Thomas Uriel Bates, WCF World AND Television Champion, there's a huge TV Title contention match this Sunday on Slam. Assuming you defeat your mystery opponent, what are your thoughts about having to face off against the winner of that contendership match?
Bates: Well, that will depend on who wins of course. Many deserving competitors, and each one could lead the Television Division to new heights. I can’t wait to see who wins that match.
Phoenix: It'll be a potential show stealer for sure.
You've been Tag Champ, TV Champ, and World Champ all in the span of just three months. You've been Tag Champs with Gemini Battle. Faced him for the World Title in each of the last two PPVs. If Battle were to win this week and become the number one contender for the TV Title, would this be a rubber match of sorts between the two of you?
Bates: Gemini is a tough competitor, and I expect nothing less from him. I’m also not convinced that our, disagreement, is at an end.
Phoenix: It's been a great story told between you guys so far, and I'm sure the fans are gonna get their wishes whenever that next chapter is written in the ring.
The two exchange a nod in agreement before moving on.
Phoenix: Final question here and then I'll let you go do your champion things. WAR is the next Pay-Per-View on the schedule. Jeff Purse and FPV have more or less been confirmed to be competing in this year's War match. Are there any other names you would like to see make a return and throw their hats in the ring?
Bates: Absolutely. I would love to have seen some of the old legends making a comeback, including Natural ICE Beckman, Steve Orbit, Jonny Fly, Odin Balfore, Johnny Reb, the list goes on and on.
Phoenix: And so on and so forth. What a WAR for the ages that would be. Well, thanks for taking the time out to accept this interview. It's been an honor having you here. Good luck in your match Sunday.
Bates: It was a pleasure. Thank you.
The two get up and shake hands once more before Bates walks away. Phoenix is grateful that Tommy didn't inadvertently break his hand either time. He sits back down and looks at the camera.
As I get ready to wrap this up, I have a couple of questions that I want to know your opinions on. Thomas Uriel Bates currently possesses the TV and World titles. The question is, which one will he hold on to longer?
A) World Title
B) TV Title
C) He'll lose both in the same night
D) He'll hold both titles FOREVER!
Also, if you haven't seen it by now, at the top of the screen is the Poll of the Week. The first one is a controversial one. Who do you think won the match between Sweet Annihilation and Lilith/Skittlez?
Last, but not least, starting next week, I will be answering some of your questions. They can be IC, OOC, or both, as long as you specify which is which with each question. You are free to start PMing me them now, and I will answer a few of them next week. That's all the time we have this week. This has been The Skybox. I'm CJ Phoenix. Have a great day and may God bless you!
"Friction" plays in the background as the screen fades to black.

3 In, 3 Out
Bates comes out and takes a seat in the reinforced chair after shaking hands with Phoenix.
Closing Segment/Q&A
A) World Title
