Jack of Blades
Gimmick:
Born Jack Blaine Nolan, the English-Irish wrestler used the clandestine reality of professional wrestling as a method of escaping the ordinarily cruel scenarios that his 'real life' provided him. An impoverished child who watched his mother suffer and toil for her employers, Jack developed a sense of Weltschmerz at an early age but refused to give in to it preferring to be the introvert and not the cynic. After a tumultuous upbringing that shares many of its routes with Ace Resoland, Jack of Blades decided to follow his dream. Unfortunately, he found no respite from bad luck in this life being forced to wrestle the 'next big thing' each week under a cliched persona which very often led to a loss. Upon hearing that Ace had managed the accomplishment of becoming the youngest champion ever of a rival company despite showing no interest in wrestling in prior interactions, Jack Blaine Nolan was booked in a match with a powerful athlete whose aptitude lay in other sports. Despite punishing Jack severely in the match, Jack let all the previous mishaps of his life wash over him causing him to break into riotous laughter. A laughter that has continued throughout his wrestling career. Surprising his opponent by changing from manic laughter to a rampaging attack, Jack Blaine Nolan adopted the name Jack of Blades and set out to prove the wrestling industry as a corrupt entity that needed to die and that he was the consummate product of the corruption. Showing a sadistic streak along with a perverse enjoyment of it (which he appeases with his plethora of devastating submissions), the 'Bastard Clown' has been described as insane but as he often comments 'surely the greatest victory against adversity is to laugh in its face regardless of how horrific and tragic it is. And then poke its eyes out.'
Height/weight:
Billed as 6'1 (Real height 5'10)
Billed as 244 (Real weight undisclosed)
Hometown:
Manchester, England
Alignment (Face/heel/neutral):
Heel
Appearance/attire:
Jack of Blades is in his early twenties and is a Caucasian white male. He doesn't really purvey a sense of power in his build but of confidence. His body is not particular ripped (more Burchill than Masters) but definitely muscular for his scale. It is obvious that he cares more about building rather than toning muscle. He has shoulder length black hair and is often seen wearing black sunglasses to hide his eyes. His eyes, a combination of brown and green, suggest a struggle between rationalism and panache within them. They would be his most endearing feature but he hides them underneath his sunglasses or obscures them to some degree with his hair. He's neither ugly nor handsome but he tends towards the latter. There is a possibility for beauty but it's either scarred by Jack scathing frown or his insane smile (which he should carry most of the time) During promos, he will more than likely wear a large and flowing (black, always black) suit. The jackets of said suits should always be long in their tail but vary between reaching down to the ankles and to the knees. The tails should also vary in design with them sometimes splitting in two or being a jagged cut. Underneath his jacket he would more than likely where a 'geek-chic' or 'political' T-Shirt. This contrast once again shows the conflict between sanity and instability. Within his entrance he should wear the jacket and no T-Shirt but instead wear an ebony dirtied leather trenchcoat over his suit. In the ring he will simply wear black tights adorned with a red rose down his right leg and the letters 'OCD' on his left. He has a solitary tattoo on his right arm which is of a Jack playing card but instead of their being a conventional suit i.e. hearts, or clubs, there seems to be knives replacing them.
Entrance (Specify music):
The sharp fiddle that opens David Draiman's 'Forsaken' preludes Jack's entrance. Simultaneously, a deep crimson envelops the entire arena. The large video screen begins to play a video featuring dark silhouettes. As the fiddle dies out in transfer for the gruff vocals and electric guitar, the red is dispelled with a sharp explosion of fireworks coming from the ramp. As well as this, the silhouettes in the opening video are also given form showing Jack seemingly in a ritual of preparation and grimacing. As the pyro clears and the video evolves, the camera pulls to the top of the ramp where Jack of Blades is kneeling in ceremony. Soon after, Jack of Blades moves upwards to his feet and poses as if he were being crucified; his arms leant out, his body forced forwards. At the same time, a red rain of sparks fall from behind him where the curtain lays, adding effect. As the 'rain' dies down, two walls of flame burst from the each side of the ramp and Jack sets down it, his face changing from ecstatic grin to professional glare. When at the ring, he slides through the bottom rope and spends a few moments on the canvas as if establishing the surroundings before charismatically getting to his feet by spinning on his heels. At his feet, he launches himself onto the second rope of a turnbuckle, sideways, and reveals to the crowd a red rose from his trenchcoat pocket, raising it up beyond his head with one hand before catching it in his other and crushing it. This cues a steady stream of rose petals to fall from the ceiling around him as he apes the same crucifix gesture.
