The Civil War has always interested me, and its disgusting what our text books (AKA Government Propaganda Books) teach our kids about it. Lincoln wasnt the man everyone thought he was, and he only freed slaves because he thought it would help him win the war. What happened after he freed the slaves? The first all black infantry was formed in the South and they FREELY fought for the South. Does anyone know what a Jayhawker is? No, not the KU Mascot. lol It was a group of Union Soldiers that went to towns with no men (cause they were all fighting in the war) and they raped and killed all the women and children. It disgust me that 95% of our population thinks the Civil War was started because of slavery. Slavery had almost NOTHING to do with the differences the two sides had; and Lincoln freed those people for all the WRONG reasons. Obviously, he did a great thing in the end, but he didn't do it with good intentions. That's what I thought the American civil war was about lol now I feel dumb what WAS it about then if not that? (Explain in a super dumbed down way which I'd understand cos I'm a dumb Brit) lmao

He is. A lot of his sins were suddenly forgotten. Yeah but he doesn't have statues and kids dressing up as him in plays and God knows what else.... or does he?! lol I think most of it has to do with him "freeing the slaves" Another part about Lincoln was, he sent some of those free slaves back to Africa trying to be the "nice guy." But he had already been informed the Africans would kill them as soon as they got off the ship because they had been "touched by the white man." Do you think he cared? No. And they got slaughtered when they got back to Africa and got off the ship....

I must point out that the black Regiments that fought for the South, only two CSCT Regiments (regular army) were ever officially formed, and only at the tail end of the war never seeing any action. There were many black Confederate soldiers though, including entire companies of them, and in Louisiana's case an entire Regiment (1st Louisiana Native Guard). This Confederate Regiment (Louisiana Militia, not Regular Army) was the first in all of North America to have black officers. They were pretty much written off, and soon was ordered disbanded, reorganized, and disbanded again. About 10% of their number went to the Union's version of the Louisiana Native Guards.
I used to portray the 4th Tennessee Cavalry Regiment, which had an all black company at one time. At the time, we even had black members which allowed us to accurately portray their story as well.

(Explain in a super dumbed down way which I'd understand cos I'm a dumb Brit) lmao The War was over Secession. Does a State have the legal Right to Secede from the Union? Yes they do, and you can see my latest roleplay to see the reason for it. It's when we get into the Causes of Secession that we get a little trickier. Some people falsely claim that Slavery was the only cause, or that it was even just the main cause. For the States of Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, and Mississippi, it was. Declarations of Secession for other States, such as Virginia, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kentucky show that it was the call to invade the South that was the cause of their Secession. Nearly all Declarations of Secession, or Declarations of Causes of Secession, indicate the violation of the U.S. Constitution as their primary cause of Secession. What we all have to remember, is that there are thirteen States to consider here. Each one with their own Causes. Some, such as Tennessee (my birth State) voted against Secession on the basis of Slavery, but voted for it on the basis of the Invasion. Each State has their own cause worthy of research.

Also, we're getting way off topic. If y'all would like to discuss this topic more we may do so on another thread or Private Message. Let's return this to the Hamiltonians.

What does seccession mean? Secession means what y'all just did to the E.U. It's a withdrawal of a State from a Union. People now days are just saying Bri-xit or something like that.

It's also what Scotland keeps trying to do, but voting down at the last second.

Lincoln's parents did not own slaves. They belonged to an anti-slavery Baptist church. Whether they were against slavery for moral or economic reasons, I don't know. There was an uncle in Tenneessee, Isaac Lincoln, who did own slaves.

Abe's family also moved from Kentucky to Indiana, a free state. I'll have to go through my notes. It may have even just been a myth. The whole "buy a slave to set free" deal. It's been so long that I may be getting things mixed up.

So, to wrap it back around, how about Hamilton? Did I get off topic again? I know I tend to do that.
