Skybox Productions Presents
In cooperation with the Wrestling Championship Federation
A roleplay by CJ Phoenix for the 8/14 edition of Slam
Shadow The Hedgehog
August 9th, 11:43 AM
CJ Phoenix's house, Baton Rouge Louisiana
The scene opens with our antagonistic protagonist, CJ Phoenix, in his room playing Madden 16 while eating Mandarin oranges.
Phoenix: Ahhhhh come on ref. That's bullshit! He was a mile out of bounds!
That fine ass goddess that is the female protagonist and moral compass to the hat trick batch of bat shit crazy Phoenix walks into the room. Kaiyah is her name, but y'all already knew that. Go ahead. Try to get under my...I mean...CJ's skin by trash talking her with your shallow asses. No, not you, handlers. You're not shallow. You're good. Know what? Whatever. Y'all know it's ya boy CJ Phoenix on narration anyway. I directed this movie. Hardest working man on the roster. Hard work on three! Hard work on three! One...two...three! HARD WORK! Anyways, so she walks into the room and sits next to Townsville's Greatest Antihero. Phoenix pauses the game to give her a kiss. Then, he goes to the instant replay and points at the screen.
Phoenix: Look at this. He totally didn't catch that in bounds, so I challenged it. Guess what these replacement refs said?
Kaiyah: They ruled it a touchdown?
Phoenix: They ruled it a damn touchdown. Now I'm down 24 zip in the second quarter.
Kaiyah: Well, if it helps you feel any better, the Slam card is up and you've got another tag match.
Phoenix: Oh goodie. The workhorse of the WCF gets to showcase his talents and carry three more people into relevancy. So, who's sharing the ring with me?
Kaiyah: You're teaming with Teddy Blaze against Doc Henry and Cha0s.
Phoenix: Cha0s? Cha0s is back!? That's awesome! I've been looking forward to-touchdown! I've been looking forward to facing off against him. Plus I get to go against a legend like Doc Henry? Wait a minute. Blaze is in the neutral zone, right?
Kaiyah: I believe so.
Phoenix: Well well well. I think that makes me the first guy since the last guy, or maybe just the first guy period, to be teamed with a face, heel, and neutral wrestler in a three week span. That's so awesome! Glad Seth has invested in my versatility.
Kaiyah: Me too. So how are you going to prepare for this one?
Phoenix: Well, it's halftime. So I'm going to start my preparations for Slam.
Kaiyah: So you're going to work out all the way to Slam?
Phoenix: Of course, but in due time. I want my people to be able to see that when I'm working hard, it isn't just in the gym or in the ring. I also have to mentally train myself for my upcoming battles. Just like this Sunday. When it comes to Cha0s, I need something different than Madden.
Halftime
Giants 24
Saints 7
Phoenix pauses the game at the start of the second half and pulls out his laptop. Once it loads, he starts Dolphin Emulator and loads Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. The game loads and he goes to the 2 player battle mode and selects the treasure hunt. Without choosing a character, he goes to Chaos Zero.
Phoenix: You see that guy right there? That's Chaos Zero. One of my opponents calls himself "Cha0s", and he spells it with a zero. Coincidence? I think not.
Kaiyah: You really think he named himself after a video game character?
Phoenix: Possibly. If he didn't, he should have. Chaos Zero's legit. Also, like my opponent, Zero has no problem taking things to the extreme. That's how he works. That's how Cha0s works. That's how chaos in general works. For me to know how to beat the wrestler Cha0s, I have to know about the concept of chaos and how to overcome it. Chaos is what happens when things get out of hand. It's what happens when there's no order to things. No organization. Just a wild rampage. Sometimes, chaos is good. However, if left unchecked, it's highly dangerous. I find it funny that the same place where I found chaos is the same place where I found a way to stop it, the character, the wrestler, and the concept.
Kaiyah: And what might that be?
Phoenix: You're about to find out.
Phoenix backs out of the treasure hunt mode and selects the pvp race mode. He picks the characters Shadow and Metal Sonic. Then, he selects Radical Highway for the stage.
Kaiyah: Should I play as Metal Sonic or just leave him there.
Phoenix: Play as him, and try to win with him. The reason is because Metal Sonic represents my other opponent, Doc Henry. At first, I was going to choose Sonic to represent him. Both are legendary. Both have had great runs. Both are still very entertaining. However, as iconic as Doc is, he, like Metal Sonic, has been overshadowed by the rest of the roster. He's amazing, I just wish more could be done with him...and I guess Doc could knock off some dust and get a little more in the spotlight. Actually, he is getting more spotlight because he's in a match with the versatile CJ Phoenix. This works for me too, though, because iron sharpens iron. That means that with all of these people I keep getting thrown into matches with, I'm gonna be beyond razor sharp!
Kaiyah: Don't let it get to your head though. Stay humble.
Phoenix: I will try.
The two play through the stage until Phoenix reaches 60 rings. He then uses Shadow's ultimate ability. Shadow yells out "Chaos Control!" and Metal Sonic becomes frozen. At that moment, CJ pauses the game.
Phoenix: Did you hear that? That's how I stop chaos, and it'll be how I stop the Doc as well.
Kaiyah: With Chaos Control? You have chaos emeralds now?
Phoenix: Hardy har har. Very funny, but yes to the first question. With chaos.....control. Key word: "control". That's how you stop chaos. You stop it with control. You control it with organization, precision, and planning. Chaos cannot thrive in a room of calm minds because there is nothing to make them erratic. So how do I stop Cha0s? I take away what makes him chaotic. I force him to become one-dimensional. While I know that is easier said than done, it's not entirely improbable either. In fact, I have two options. I could take away his ability to be chaotic, or I could feed into it until he becomes too extreme to be contained by his own partner. That is how chaos control truly works.
Kaiyah: Makes sense. How do you stop Doc Henry then?
Phoenix closes the game of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and turns off his laptop.
Phoenix: My answer has been paused at halftime the whole time until the time was right. Now is that time.
He unpauses the game and goes back to playing it.
Phoenix: The reason I fell behind by so much so early, aside from a few bad calls that I won't speak of, is because there's been a lot of, for lack of better words, chaos. My team hasn't been playing as a unit, and that's what has been our downfall so far. However, on my last full drive before halftime, I focused and controlled the tempo of the game all the way until we crossed the goal line. That's what it's going to take to come back in this game, and that's what it will take to overcome Doc Henry. He's too wise and experienced in the ring for simple tricks. I have to really take him seriously and not give him a chance to take over the match. Fortunately, I have a partner who's no pushover either. It'll take some teamwork to win this match. Individually, we are better than them, but it won't matter if Teddy and I can't gel like a team. If we can't flow like a good offense and defense, they won't beat us, we will. Just like this game, It won't be easy to walk out with a win, but it sure as hell can be done.
End of the third quarter
Giants 27
Saints 14
Phoenix scores on the first play of the final period, cutting the deficit down to a single score.
Phoenix: When momentum is on our side, we can't afford to get too confident. We have to keep building on it until we're victorious. Like right now, I've outscored them 21-3 since that bogus call put them up by 24. I can't let that deter my focus though. I have to keep doing what works and take a methodical approach to the latter stages of this game.
The Giants go down the field and get in the end zone, but they fail to get the 2 point conversion.
4th 5:11
Giants 33
Saints 21
Kaiyah: You can still comeback from that, right?
Phoenix: We'll find out. You see, even with that score halting our momentum wave, I can't panic and try to Hail Mary my way back in. This Sunday, there will be moments where momentum shifts to the side of my opponents, and rather than going off the deep end, I have to stay focused and take things one move at a time. I trust that my partner is smart enough to do the same.
Phoenix leads New Orleans down the field rather quickly to get them back in the game. However, they still need a stop in order to have a chance to complete the comeback.
4th 3:20
Giants 33
Saints 28
CJ holds off the Giants, but it costs him two of his timeouts. He gets the ball at his own 5 yard line, needing 95 yards to take the lead.
4th 1:04
Giants 33
Saints 28
Phoenix: This is where everything I've said thus far comes full circle. From the chaos that caused me to fall behind to the control that kept me alive long enough to get back in it. This is what happens when you can keep a level head when it matters most.
One play at a time, Phoenix uses a combo of out routes and no-huddles to lead his team down the field. Every second is precious as time is of the essence. The closer he gets to the end zone, the closer he gets to running out of time. He gets sacked on 1st and goal, forcing him to run a no-huddle into the next play. Instead of losing focus, he concentrates on the play at hand before throwing what would be the game-winning touchdown pass on the final play of regulation.
Final

Saints 35
Kaiyah: Nice job.
Phoenix: Thank you. This game is a lot like Sunday. Things will go right. Things will go wrong. We'll dish out some hits, and we'll take some too. Also, like this game, cooler heads will prevail. I wish everyone involved in my match the best of luck, because if it comes down to skill, then it'll be a win for us. If it comes down to who worked the hardest, then we'll win by a landslide because no one, NO ONE, outworks me. Simply put, no matter what happens, iron will sharpen iron, and I will take one more step up that mountain and one more step toward rising above the peak that everyone's reaching for.
He goes to save the game, and under the save file, he renames it "Chaos Controlled". The game saves and he turns it off.
