So, WWE is adding the universal Championship.
And if rumors are to be believed, they're also adding tag and women's belts for Smackdown, which admittedly has been done before, albeit briefly.
Meaning that soon we will have:
2 world titles 2 tag titles 2 women's titles. 2 Midcard titles. 1 (maybe) Cruiserweight belt And 3 NXT belts.
Doing the math that means at wrestlemania weekend we will have 12 title matches in 2 days. Plus if you count tag teams that's 15 distinct WWE champions.
Is that a little silly?

they should of kept the women on smackdown or raw and all the teams on the other show. That would be better, plus the cruserweights should always be on smack down.Nxt doesnt count to me but the "midcard" belts are already meaninless so why add more to just make the title holders paper champs.

The brands are distinct. Imagine watching raw or smackdown and there's no world champ. The us title is the top champ there.
I agree, smackdown should have drafted 'the woman's division' then smackdown say 'oh yea. I draft the tag team division!'

They shouldn't have separated the shows, plain and simple. Do a "soft" separation in booking theory only - book Raw so that it has more women's matches, Smackdown so it has more of the tag team division - but nothing set in stone. Highly different talent on both shows instead of having Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose constantly main event both shows. Give yourself options instead of limiting yourself on purpose.
With the brands split, they have no choice but to add more titles so each show has them. I liked the traveling World Champion in the first few months or however long of the first brand split, but that has one severe limitation. The biggest advantage the brand split has is when it establishes its own "guys" so that when they meet, its a huge deal - and having a traveling World Champion takes away from that.
That said, having a second World Champion also devalues the concept of World Title reigns since we get Jack Swagger and Khali and everyone.
Meh.

Vince must be losing his mind. They are trying to make each show be a completely different entity and I think it's a mistake. He's trying to bring back the bidding wars for wrestlers and capitalize off it. Ratings must be down. lol

They do this every Tim rating plunge. Then end it when they pick up. There should only be one big champ. And its defended at ppvs. Feuds would be those fighting for the chance to bring the big one to their show

I think the brand split was necessary vecause you just had to many main event stars for one show. That said, wwe NEEDS to figure out some way to make it so the shows are actually in competition with each other. Idk how to do that other than to it them on the same night in competing time slots which obviously won't ever happen but it needs to feel like the shows are trying to put each other out of business

Only need one WWE title..make the best on each show fight over it. Something to hold over the other shows head
