I’ve been in the dub for over 3 years (with a 4 month hiatus) I came in, like everyone else, with the intention of winning the World title. I learned quickly that I was outclassed and outmatched and I had a lot of work to do. I had my successes. And most importantly I had a lot of fun. Most recently I had my biggest brush with glory as I had the opportunity to headline one in the World Title Match and then 2 PPVs later headlined another World Title match. Both of which I lost, and it was miserable.
Then the exodus happened. I was really beginning to get into the new Gemini Battle that I was trying to bring back, yet was starting to lose hope in it actually happening. I posted a substandard RP against Slane a few months ago, and realized that Gemini may be no more.
But that clown stays in my mind. I’ve been rping as this character for like 5 or 6 years now between 3 feds. (originally named twister, but the same character) He’s evolved from a circus act to an Alien Lord of the Underworld. I’ve been able to move from reality to sci-fi to reality based sci-fi. I love this character and when Ultimate Showdown came back up, and I’ve seen two but never got to compete in them I wanted to.
But I had no way in. The past two years Seth has done a Night of Champions the week before US where every title is defended. So I was hoping to get in that.
The tag titles were the most organic way I could think of… Gemini never lost them, he was stripped of them. But then Freezer Burn and Night rider won them and they’ve been fucking killing it RP wise as of late. Fortunately for me Thomas Bates wanted to team up with me… I honestly didn’t even know if I could get a partner, and I give all the credit to him that week for helping us win those titles. I had by far the worst RP of the four IMO.
Then US happened, and ZMAC fucking killed everyone 4 times before most of us could post one. I thought I had no chance. So I busted ass and got up the best that I could do and for the first time since War was truly happy with what I put out there. At the very worst I proved that I was worthy to be in the match after two very poor performances leading up to it.
I never in my wildest imagination thought I would have won the whole thing. I am so completely honored and amazed that it happened. It proves that hard work and dedication pays off. It proves that long winded RPs aren’t the way to win (EDIT: I think I may have written more words than anyone this week, but I typically write about 2-3000 words more than I did per RP than I did this week. I averaged 6500 rather than 85-9000) Most of all I had fun writing this week again which I can’t say I’ve felt truly happy writing since the Trio’s Tournament with Bates and Gonzo.
This place is full of the most talented and amazing writers and people. Everyone is always so supportive and gracious. After the exodus I thought the place was gonna crumble, but a few key vets returned (myself included I hope) as well as a bunch of great new comers. We’ve had our share of drama since but overall this place never lost a step, never missed a beat, and any other analogy you could think of.
To Seth for always believing in my character even when I didn’t.
To Bates and Mikey Extreme and the rest of the DRG for helping Gemini really gain footing in the WCF
To ZMAC/Odin for being both my harshest foe IC and greatest asset OOC in terms of RP feedback those years ago.
To all the champions before, and all the ones who will come after me. I thank you all, and I promise to do my best to hold this title proudly and honorably.
My goal was always to win it. Now that it has my goal is to be in the HOF. I’ve still got a lot of work to do to join the names of the greats in that category. This is only a small step, it’s what I do form here that matters most.

Yes, huge congrats to Gemini! I was initially very disappointed to have finished 4th because for a change I was happy with my work but then, looking at it, ZMAC busted his ass with brilliant work, T.U.B. is just a phenom and Gemini produced 3 brilliantly entertaining RPs. Bishop and Chambers produced good stuff too and are very very talented. Slane and Teddy weren't as prolific this time but they are also top competitors so I can count it an honour to be eliminated after them.
Going to focus on improving and telling good stories.
Gemini, having looked through your old work and all the dedication and creativity that went into it, you are a huge testament to the need for perseverance and determination in this place as it amazes me you haven't been champion before.

One important note: I don't want anyone in this match (well besides Gemini) to look at their placement and think they were "forth" or whatever the case may be. Since every fall was judged differently it doesn't tell the right picture. For example, Nathan Chambers did five roleplays!, but got outlasted by someone who only did 1 but was very prolific on the Internet board. ANYWAY yes as much as I hate judging I WAS happy to have an Ultimate Showdown match where no matter who won it was going to be a sweet moment, but a Gemini Battle win finally is a great story. Coming up short at One and then moving onto Ultimate Showdown and capturing the belt there is pretty epic. Congrats, Gemini!, if it was real wrestling the crowd would have ended the show with a YOU DESERVE IT! chant.

I have to say, coming in as a newbie in the group, it is interesting to see a multi-man match that looks organic, results seemed fluid, and no one was 100% butthurt over it.
Its refreshing. XD

Congrats man. Well deserved. Now to see if Slane cashes in on the rematch clause in his contract. I like you both as champion, but I wanna see the rp face off you two will produce. Should be an amazing spectacle with the world title on the line.

No sir, Oblivion never got IT's rematch. Conspiracy theorists would say "The Machine" Held Oblivion back.

I cannot think of a more deserving holder for that belt. You have come so close time and time again, winning Showdown is such a poetic way to finally reach the top of that mountain, Gem! Here's hoping the reign is as long as it is filled with excitement. Unrelated, I took a screenshot of the thread title because this is what my brain saw when I looked at the OOC board and I thought it was amusing!

Should be an amazing spectacle with the world title on the line. I get a rematch clause? Whoo hoo! Seriously, that seems unlikely given the nature of The Ultimate Showdown match itself. Everybody just swapped titles. I can't see a bunch of rematches booked. That would result in more Champion vs Champion contests with the rest of the fed on the outside looking in. That said, who knows what Seth has planned.
