Okay, so I clearly haven't been as active on the boards as I should have been during the break.
I've become super obsessed with Pokemon Go and I've been devoting pretty much all of my non-work time to it as much as I can.
That said, I'm also very excited for Ultimate Showdown!, and I appreciate everyone getting some matches submitted already! Just like many of you, I feel like I did need a little "break" to recharge some batteries. So it worked out nicely.
ANYWAY, that's what has been taking away my attention. NOW ONTO POKEMON GO
Anyone else play? What level are you guys at? I recently got to level 24 but I've stockpiled Pidgeys and whatever to evolve so I feel like I could jump halfway to level 25 whenever. That said, at this point, getting to higher levels just seems to make things more difficult... I'm finding I rarely have as much Stardust as I'd like. In earlier levels I'd pop Lucky Eggs all the time to get more EXP but that seems to have been pointless - I should've just stockpiled stardust instead.
This will obviously vary by where you live but I've found holding gyms difficult. It seems to be much more worthwhile to just find strongholds for your team and battle your way into them instead of trying to take from other teams. It also seems to be better to focus on areas that aren't common. There is a really popular park around here everyone frequents and I don't know why anyone bothers with the gyms there, they turn over so much.
I have a Vaporeon that is max CP, and my highest - as does everyone probably that cares about this game. My four pokemon defending gyms right now are a Slowbro, Nidoking, Jolteon, and Gyarados. To say Gyarados took a ton of work would be an understatement, since I also focus on hatching eggs - I walked around the same goddamn little pond area at my local park for a long time.
I barely have any electric/fire, any I do get are from eggs. I haven't frequented my old University yet - I hear they may have different types, but my park is mostly nothing but grass and water.
I'd love to farm Abras somehow but have no idea where to really do that.
