I would probably start with AJ and Joey. Although Joey isn't as much fun as he used to be.

What I use is your basic promo. Discuss the events, any past with the opponent, drop a little dirt on them...your basic WWE promo, the way I see it.

What do you feel are the advantages and disadvantages to this style of roleplaying? Advantage: It gets the job done. Talk about any feuds, any storylines, any possible opponents to take on, and at the same time give a rebuttal to the person you're feuding with. Also, allows a bit of fooling around into it. Disadvantage: Character limit. I usually keep about one to two characters in a promo, because any more and I'll give each of them lines, whether they have matches or not. A quiet character in a promo looks bad to me, IMO, so with at least Mike and Sasha handling the promos, things'll go well. Hope that made sense. XD;;;;

I like to make stories. My RP's don't have that much shit talking, and when they do, it definantly isn't anything special. I try to use rhetorical technicques like incongruities and paralellism, using it for mini stories. Lately, I haven't been RPing much. I got an idea for my RP's this week, so that will be fun.
I think the best types of RP's are ones with a definitive scene, characters, and RP's that don't really try to acknowledge there is an audience reading/watching the promo. I prefer to think of RP's as episodes of TV, like a sitcom. We just tune in to these people's lives. I like these opposed to the RP's Ragnal talks about because really, how many times can you say you're going to kick someone's ass? Don't get me wrong, if you RP like a basic WWE promo, and can actually get the dialogue to work, then major ups. Do it. But a lot of RPers can't do that, and end up making stupid analogies.
Ex: Come (enter event), I'm going to kill (enter opponent) like a cold-blooded murderer does an innocent victim. Do you really think I'm afraid of you, (enter opponent)? Do you think I'm afraid of you're (enter character flaw)? Do you really think you can beat me? Hell, you couldn't even beat (enter old opponent loss), and everyone knows he's a (enter slander)! So (enter opponent), come (enter event), you'd better watch your back. Once you step into that squared circle, there is no protection. No, just me and you. (Enter stupid catchphrase)!
(Enter scene fades to black).
EDIT: This is, by the way, how I format my shit talking towards the end of RP's.

That was my old style and how I liked doing them, but now that I can rp whatever I feel at the time and play off a ton of humor in them; I've been having ideas coming from all over the place. I don't like the "shit talking" scene myself, as you just showed it doesn't take a whole lot of creativity to come up with something like that. As a former owner of an efed, if I looked at an rp and felt there wasn't much time placed into it then I probably jobbed them. It is one thing to write out a short rp and just shit talk the whole time, but another thing to write a short rp and actually have something entertaining to say in it that we can all enjoy. But I agree with you on your style and I enjoy reading your rps. Don't get me wrong, if you RP like a basic WWE promo, and can actually get the dialogue to work, then major ups. Do it. Thank you. These were the exact reasons I suggested this board be made. People see a different way of getting out the point. Like with my promos with Sasha and Mike, if I can get a two person conversation that doesn't involve an interviewer, I can get the point across without sounding too generic, as seen in the example provided.

My style is the style of no style. That's what Bruce Lee used to say. What I mean by that isn't that I'm too cool for school. No, sir. What I do is I go with the flow. It's not exactly a stream of consciousness but it's something along those lines. I don't plan things out too much before hand. Now I'm not talking about the interview with Hank Brown stuff. That's different. That's just a straight interview. What I'm talking about is the more ambitious stuff that I've written. And before my enemies would jump in and say what ambition I would turn the tables and say this ambition. I use a lot of comedy sure. But it's absurdist and surrealistic in its basest form. It's motivated by my deepest feelings of fear and hatred. A sudden sense that the entire universe could cease to exist at any moment. If there is a higher power a God if you will he could annihilate me without even flinching. That's what I’m talking about. It's a fear that this entire train is about to wreck at any moment but I'm just thriving on the danger. Some of that may be presented in a more subtle fashion and that's fine. But if life is a waking nightmare just imagine where that puts me in the game. Think about it.
