Once Stuart Slane had the WCF World Championship fastened around his waist he climbed the nearest ringpost. He threw his arms up in triumph, eliciting applause from the crowd. He did this in all four corners of the ring. He then jumped down and asked for the timekeeper to hand him a microphone.
Slane: Thank you, Philadelphia, for supporting me as I achieved a goal I never thought possible!
The Philly fans holler in approval at the mention of their hometown. Stuart’s exuberant face turns solemn.
Slane: Before I continue my acknowledgments, I request that you please keep James Chevalier in your thoughts and prayers. The young man suffered a serious injury prior to Blast, which was why he wasn’t in attendance tonight. But The Game is a strong person, a proven fighter, and I know he will recover from this setback.
The arena’s mood is far less jubilant, being reminded of the accident that kept Chevalier out of the WCF Classic Finals.
Slane: I also would like to take time to thank my opponents tonight, Nathan Chambers-
Boos rain down from the stadium’s seating.
Slane: - and my friend and mentor Jeff Purse.
The jeers turn to cheers when the former champ is mentioned.
Slane: Both of them gave everything they had tonight in pursuit of the greatest prize in professional wrestling: this, the WCF World Championship!
As the crowd roars in approval Stuart unhooks the belt and lifts it over his head with one arm. He waits a moment, soaking in the appreciation, before bringing the mic to his lips one final time.
Slane: Also, I would be remiss not to mention the efforts of, ahm, Joseph Malignaggi, known better to the WCF Galaxy by his ring name, Joey Flash.
The Wells Fargo Arena turns deathly silent. Stu, clearly embarrassed and out of sorts, drapes the WCF Title over his shoulder and completes making good on his obligations.
Slane: Without him, none of this would have been possible. Thank you! Good night!
The new WCF World Champion gives those still in their seats an awkward wave, exits the ring, and walks quickly up the ramp to the back. The reaction to his departure is so muted you could hear a Conway pop.
