The camera opens up with Severan King sitting in a chair across from a woman. He is wearing his usual white suit, with his hair pulled back and his beard neatly groomed. The woman has some papers in her lap. She is wearing a brown pantsuit with her hair pulled tightly back into a bun. The backdrop is the familiar set up where King normally preaches his sermons. The setting is a little different, more “actor’s studio” less church camp. King adjusts his tie before nodding to the woman.
Thank you Mr. King for granting me this interview. It has been a long time that I have wanted to sit down with you.
It is my pleasure, Karen. I would like to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to make some time for me.
My pleasure. Mr. King let’s get this interview started. Sir, you recently went travelling in the desert. What was the purpose of that trip?
Well, I was dreaming one night and I saw that it was something that I must do. I saw the sand all around me, the dunes off in the distance, and I saw myself wandering. They saw you forget your dreams almost instantaneously but this one stuck with me. I knew it was more than a dream. It was a message from God that I needed to go out there and see what was shown to me.
Speaking of things shown to you, you mentioned a little about the visions you had. Said you saw things of a great plague that will destroy everything.
I don’t know if it will destroy everything or just some things. It is hard to interpret what I see with any true accuracy. I try my best but sometimes I am way off. I remember one time I was shown a vision of a rabbit in a field. Cute little white rabbit hopping along eating the grass and just being all kinds of cute. I thought this meant that serenity and peace were coming to me very soon. In reality, Karen, it meant that when I got home that day we had a new pet. Boy was I wrong on that one. On the bright side Mr. Fluffytail lived to a ripe old age.
King and Karen both chuckle for a moment.
Now onto your matchup at Blast. You face both Greg St. Matthews and Heavy Metal Machine Logan. You’ve already beaten Logan in one on one competition. You and Matthews have had some exchanges with one another. How do you prepare going into a match like this?
Well, going into a triple threat match is vastly different than a one on one matchup. I could turn out to be so focused on Matthews that Logan creeps in from behind and steals the victory. Who knows I may sit around let them beat up on one another and snag it myself. I do know that I will not be overlooking either of these men. Yes, I know I have already beaten Logan. Yes, I know that Matthews wishes he was as good as I am. In reality there can only be one winner in this match. I will use whatever items I have at my disposal to dispense justice to them. I will bring down the holy wrath of God himself to win this.
Well, Mr. King, you like the rest of us have seen the recent words of Logan. Logan said that he lost his first match against you due to a fast count by the ref. He then proceeded to say that he would “Rip his expletive deleted heart out”. How do you take those words coming from him?
He had plenty of chances for that, Karen. I think Mr. Logan is all talk. He walks around boasting a big game. Claims he has the best contract in the world. Growing up I was always told that you had to prove yourself before things would come your way. Logan is used to everyone handing him everything based off of his name. I came into this business with a mediocre salary. No one knew who I was. I didn’t boast or brag I just let my actions speak for me. My first match was a mess. They had me tagging with some kid who didn’t know a wrist lock from a wrist watch. It was a mark in the tag team loss column for me but the way I see it, it was a small victory for me without being pinned. After that fiasco I faced Logan. I pinned Logan. I knew I didn’t even need to use my finisher to get that victory. He can claim a fast count if he wants. All that matters at the end of the day is the wins you have. I have more than Logan. I have one over Logan.
On to Mr. Matthews. He said that you are a piss ant who he “could care less about”. He told us a story about his past championship accomplishments as well. Does this have any impact on how you view him going into this match?
I’ve said it before. How we got to where we are is not what matters. What matters is what we accomplish in the here and now. Matthews can boast that he won this title or that one all he wants. Let’s look at his track record here in WCF. He lost to Logan. He is about to lose to me. He said he “could care less” about me. Then why doesn’t he care less? I will tell you why. Because he knows that I am someone important and someone whom he should care about. If he meant he couldn’t care less than that is a whole other ballpark. We shall work with what he said though and maybe one day English will become something he is proficient at. Mr. Matthews likes to convince people that the “St.” stands for saint. I would like to correct that it stands for Street. Street Matthews because if he does not get his act together that is exactly where he shall find himself is out on the street. No one will be there to lift him. Satan will be there to drag him down ever further though. We all know that Matthews has a future that is not looking up for him.
Now, Mr. King, a lot of people have recently mentioned to me that you and Kevin Bishop seem to be exchanging some words. You having a vision of plague and pestilence and he just happened to be called The Plague and having a pet rat named Pestilence. Would you like to comment on any of this?
Kevin Bishop is a man who is the other side of the coin that is Severan King. For everything that I hold Holy and dear he corrupts. He is a wicked man. He has brought my family into this verbal joust he started. Ezekiel is a good boy and I shall not let him corrupt my son. He says I need to let him live his life and find his own path. My son has a path. He is on the correct path. Mr. Bishop thinks that living a life of excess and impulse is where life is at. I’ve been down the same path as Mr. Bishop. I do not want that life for my son. He is better than Bishop will ever be. Everything is pure coincidence, Karen. Bishop and I are not friends. Karen, I told you that when we set up this interview I would not comment on him. You lied to me when you agreed. Therefore this interview is over.
King stands up and begins to remove the wiring from his body. He takes that ear piece out and tosses it down on the table.
Mr. King I am sorry. It’s just that so many people had mentioned it I would be remiss if I didn’t ask. Please, sir, do not leave. I’ve got a few more questions for you. All on script I promise.
One more mistake like that and I will leave. I promise you that next time we are done and you will never again interview me. Do you got it?
King walks back over and lets one of the assistants rewire him back up. He makes a motion to another assistant and they bring him a glass of brown liquid. He takes a sip and sits the glass down on the table. Karen looks at him and waits for his nod to start the interview once more. King takes another quick sip and nods to Karen.
We are back once again chatting today with Severan King. Mr. King we all know that you are accomplished in the ring here at WCF. People do not get too much of a glimpse into your personal life. What does Mr. King do for fun?
Well, I am a very active member in my church. That of course comes with being the figure head. I do charity work all over town as well. I spend as much time with my family as I possibly can. WCF has been in my home and have seen how blessed I am there. I have a beautiful dog. I am an avid swimmer as I’m sure you pieced together from my pool.
What was your life like before you came here? We already know about your church and your home life but what about little Severan?
Well, I was born to a single mother. She raised me as best she could. Moved around a lot to make ends meet. I was never an outstanding child academically but I passed. I never wanted for anything. I rebelled like all kids do but those were dark days.
I noticed you mentioned your mother. What about your father?
Well, this is something that I have never really told anyone. My father is someone we all know, or should know anyway. You see my mother and the Virgin Mary has something in common. Miraculous births. My mother was visited by an angel. He told her that she had been chosen by God himself, like Mary before her. That even though she had never been touched by a man she would come to be with child. That child is me. Last time my father sent Jesus to save humanity. God has been watching and saw what we have been doing with our time since then and he is not impressed. Jesus was his merciful side. I am not so merciful. I am the one that brings wrath with me I realized my true purpose after the hard life I endured growing up. It was all a part of His plan. What better outlet for my wrath than the WCF? You see I can do both. I can bring people to the light through my teachings and I can show people how angry they’ve made God through my work here.
Wow, that is something incredible. What evidence do you have that your mother was in fact chosen by God to receive his seed?
King looks at Karen disapprovingly. He stands up and removes the mic from his person.
We are done here.
King stomps off the set and we see him approach someone who looks familiar but we just can’t quite put our finger on it. All around them are cameras and boom mics from the interview.
Is everything in place?
Yes, sir. Everything is in order for your match. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the victory when it happens.
Good. Tell your boss that the terms have been accepted. It is time to right this failing WCF ship. I will do so by any means necessary.
The long haired man nods and begins to walk away. Severan King smiles and starts walking another direction.
By any means necessary.
King walks out of frame and the camera fades to black.
Thank you Mr. King for granting me this interview. It has been a long time that I have wanted to sit down with you.
