(The scene opens up inside an arena, quickly panning across the crowd before making its way to the stage. The camera pauses on the stage for a few seconds, when music begins to blast through the arena. "You Got Another Thing Comin'" by Judas Priest begins to fill the arena, the crowd is mostly silent, save for a few cheers here and there. Out walks "The New World Warrior" Tony Miranda. He smiles, looking out at the crowd, before making his way to the ring. Before he reaches the ring he breaks into a run and hops up onto the apron, before jumping over the ropes. He walks to the other side of the ring, asking for a mic, before walking to the middle.)
(As his theme dies down he looks out towards the crowd, for a moment, he was put off by the silence, but he quickly adjusted to it. He stood there for a few moments, trying to piece together his thoughts. It was a long time since he felt like this, a stranger in a new promotion, a new face in an unfamiliar crowd. He took a deep breath, before letting it out.)
Tony Miranda:
"You'll have to excuse me if I seem out of place, or nervous. Its...been a long time since I've entered a new promotion. For years I've always toured around with the same group of people, no matter where I went, I always could feel comfort in seeing a familiar face. But here? I don't know a single soul. Not a single person knows me, or probably even cares about me. That's fine. I've gone through this same song and dance a million times before."
(Tony smiles. He hears a few distant cheers, but they were enough to get his energy up.)
Tony Miranda:
"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tony Miranda. For those who don't know me, I am the Very Absolute Best in professional wrestling. Now, I understand that some of you might think that's cocky of me. Maybe it is. But those who know me, they know for a fact that everything I say tonight, I can back it up without a shadow of a doubt. For the past five years I have been wrestling down in Texas, making a name for myself. Ask any person down there, they'll point at me and easily say 'Yeah. He's the best.' Again, that's not me tooting my own horn, I worked my ass off for the right to say that. I've sacrificed my blood, sweat, and tears for this business. I've wrestled all around the world, but my best years are down in Texas, but believe me when I say I've got a ton of years left in me."
"This week, I have my first match in front of a new crowd in a new promotion. Here, in the WCF. My first opponent is a man named Kevin Bishop, who has the wonderful nickname of 'The Plague'. Not bad, not bad. I'm sure the third graders your trying to scare are very afraid right now. Unfortunately, us grown adults aren't going to be so easily frightened by spooky nicknames. See, I listened to everything you had to say, and all I gotta say is...wow. Ten out of ten, man! I have never seen anyone with bigger delusions of grandeur like you do!"
(He sighs.)
Tony Miranda:
"Man, why can't I ever fight regular wrestlers anymore? I've literally lost count on how many people like you I've fought, all these people who talk about prophecies and destruction, about bringing messages of death. I swear, where do you people come from? Is there some kind of training facility for Evil Cultist Wannabes? How many cookie cutter jokes do I have to go through before people get the message? Let me tell you something, Kevin. I've fought people like you, I've beaten people like you. I've CRUSHED people like you. I've been in this business for a very, very long time and I've seen countless faces come and go. Some of them? They go on to become the biggest and best stars in professional wrestling. They go on to become multiple time world champions, wrestle across the world, and have long, successful careers. Others? They're just a quick flash in the pan. A few ooh's and ahh's here and there, but just as quickly as they showed up, they're gone. Never to be seen again. You, Kevin? I can already tell. You aren't going to be a champion here. You aren't going to even be a flash in the pan. You're just going to be one big DUD."
(He smiles, a few cheers come from the crowd.)
Tony Miranda:
"I love this idea that you're going to come to our match and break me. Break me? Really? Do you honestly have any idea what I've been through? Actually, I already know the answer. No. You don't. Because if you did, you'd be turning your tail and running very far away from me the moment you saw my name on the card. But, since you don't know...let me give you a quick run down. I've fallen off ladders, I've been sent through tables, I've gone through barbed wire. I fought in a Taipei Death Match where my face and body was torn to shreds by broken glass. I've been strangled, I've been cracked upside the head with a shovel, and I've even been BURIED ALIVE. But do you want to know something? Every time I've been beaten to within an inch of my life. Every time I was lying down beaten and bloodied, I got back up. I got back up and I kept fighting, because that's what I do, I fight! Every time I've been knocked down I get back up, and I kick my opponent's head right into the rafters."
(He gets closer to the camera, an intense look in his eyes as he stared right into it.)
Tony Miranda:
"Everything that you say you're going to do to me? There's already someone that's done it before. Do you wanna know something, Kevin? Everything they've done to me...I survived. I survived and beat them. Most of those people are no longer in professional wrestling. I've not only survived the worst beatings of my life, but I've prevailed against those who tried to break me. So let me ask you this. What can you possibly do to me, that hasn't already been done before? The answer is nothing. Every idea that comes to your mind, every little thought of what you could do to me to break me? Its already been done before. Hell, you can even bring a knife and try and put me down for good. Someone already tried, and those people were a million times more talented and more skilled than you could ever be. You have absolutely no idea who you're getting into the ring with. So, you can go ahead and try and break me, or torture me, or whatever you think you can do. Me? I'm going to do things the old fashioned way, and straight up just kick your ass. I'm gonna kick your ass until I get bored, and I will make sure to beat as much respect into you as I possibly can!"
(He steps away, pointing into the camera.)
Tony Miranda:
"Listen up, and listen well Kevin! If you even think for one second you're going into this match thinking I'm an easy win, I'm going to knock your teeth right down your throat! Throw all your ego and delusions right out the window because the moment you step into this ring with me, you'll know that you're going to be in for the fight of your life. You had better bring your best, because I will certainly bring mine. I am not going to play games with you, I am going to fight you with everything I have, because being the best is what I strive to be, day in and day out. So be ready for the biggest fight you've ever been in, because in just a few short days, "The New World Warrior" will be waiting for you. To you, and to everyone else watching. To these fans, to the other wrestlers in the back, you had better stay tuned, because in a few short days, I am going to do what I do best. And to everyone out there, if you aren't ready for what I'm about to bring to the table, I only have one thing to say to you..."
(Tony then raises the mic to the air, and screams at the top of his lungs...)
"GET HYPE!!!"
("You Got Another Thing Comin'" begins to play once more, with a good part of the crowd now cheering for Tony. He lowers his mic and smiles, once again nodding his head to the camera, he drops the mic, quickly exiting the ring as the camera fades.)
