Ryu Hazuki had never been much of an athlete. However, one passion of his ever since he was a little boy was professional wrestling. A few years ago, he had watched his fellow countryman, Kira Sakazaki, take the WCF by storm and become one of the most popular wrestlers of the time. Hazuki vowed while watching a Sakazaki match one night that he would get into the WCF one day and become the next big Japanese star of the organization. Hazuki had submitted his first application to join the WCF back on January 1st of 2014; however he received the rejection call from the WCF corporate office a couple weeks later. Hazuki did not have, well, any athletic background, including no wrestling experience of any kind. But he had a dream, and it was a dream that he was going to continue to pursue no matter what the circumstances were. He resubmitted his application again the following year, only to be rejected again a short time later. Hazuki never did get discouraged though; he kept up with the WCF product and continued to dream big. He submitted his third application on January 1st of 2016, but he never did receive a reply. Hazuki attempted to call the WCF Corporate Headquarters, but he was never able to get a straight answer from anyone. That was until May 10th. He recalled the day fondly; he was watching an old Teo Del Sol vs. Dustin Beaver TV title match when his cell phone vibrated in his pocket.
Voice: “Hello, is this Mr. Ryu Hazuki?”
Hazuki: “Yes, this Hazuki.”
Voice: “Mr. Hazuki, this is Seth Lerch, owner of the Wrestling Championship Federation. I just came across your application, and I am proud to offer you a contract. I can fly you out to the United States and we can go over the details, if that sounds agreeable to you?”
Hazuki began to tear up. He had always pictured what it would be like to actually make it, but there was always that doubt in the back of his mind that it would really happen. Hazuki knew that the WCF had just had a major roster overhaul, and although he knew that might have helped with him earning a spot, he didn’t care. Hazuki spoke to Lerch, attempting to hold the emotion in his voice back.
Hazuki: “Oh, thank you, Mr. Lich. This always been dream, I not let you down!”
Lerch: “Um yes, great. I will be sending you an e-mail at the address you provided us with a printable copy of your plane ticket and information on where you need to be and when. I look forward to see you, Mr. Hazuki.”
Hazuki: “Yes, thank you, I see you soon!”
With that, Hazuki had done it. He sat there in disbelief for a moment; he couldn’t believe that this wasn’t a dream. Hazuki’s eyes fell upon the Del Sol/Beaver match once again. He noticed how everyone loved Teo and how he had a look that really stood out with his flashy mask and outfit. Hazuki knew that he was going to have to come up with something to really make him pop and separate him from the rest of the new wrestlers trying to make it. Hazuki stared at Teo’s mask, he thought it made the Mexican residing wrestler look like a super hero. That’s when it hit Hazuki like a ton of bricks. He could be a super hero! But he had no special powers; he was just the biggest wrestling fan he knew. Just like that, it hit him again; he would be the hero of the WCF! He had the perfect idea, now it was just time to put it in action.

Before heading to the United States, Seth Lerch had set up a conference at one of Japan’s biggest sports stadiums to officially announce his newest signee. Hazuki sat in the back as nervous as he possibly could be. And then after a few words from a WCF representative welcoming everyone there, it was Hazuki’s time. He had went ahead and let them know the gimmick he had come up with, and they were about to let the whole world know who Hazuki now was.
WCF Rep: “…And now ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to announce the newest signing made by the WCF. We’re very excited to have him with us. He will be taking on Lilith in his debut match on May 22nd at Slam, live from Reading, Pennsylvania. Without further ado, here he is…CAPTAIN WCF!”
Hazuki, now officially known as Captain WCF, ran from the back to the stage at full speed. His bright red mask and costume made everyone in the audience cheer as he came into view. He reached his seat at the table on the stage, waiving and blowing kisses to the crowd. Captain WCF sat in his seat at the table; many microphones were setup in front of him. He took a deep breath and composed himself before he addressed the large audience.
Captain WCF: “Thank you ladies and gentlemen. My name Captain WCF and I proud to be newest wrestler in WCF! You see my mask and shield, I am hero that WCF need and deserve!”
The crowd, consisting of local media and fans, clapped and cheered as Captain WCF announced who he was.
Captain WCF: “I join WCF to be hero of people, to fight for fans and give them best wrestling ever see!”
More raucous applause continued after his statement. Captain WCF then became serious.
Captain WCF: “My first opponent, Rilith, he…sorry, she very beautiful lady and former champion... But this new era! This is time for new wrestler to make mark and I defeat Rilith because he…sorry, don’t know why keep doing that… she don’t have same need to make impression that Captain WCF do!”
The crowd clung to every statement made by their new hero, wanting to hear more.
Captain WCF: “I will win match, I won’t let fans or owner of WCF, Mr. Sef Lich, or anyone down! This my promise, wrestling is life,
I will be best, can’t stop me!”
After the last exclamation, Captain WCF jumped up on the table and struck his best super hero pose. The crowd erupted into a thunderous ovation, they loved their new hero and he loved being their hero. It was his time; Captain WCF wasn’t going to let them down.
